On this episode of Meet the Machines, your Uncle Ben Eller is checking out the new Jet Black head by Bad Cat! It's a 38 watt, two channel rock and roll MACHINE, and it's my favorite amp they've ever made! I wrote and recorded and original song with it that you'll hear at the top of the video, then we're gonna spend some time checking out the amazing sounds this amp has to offer. MEOW!

I’m not a good enough player to even care about amplifiers, but that’s one of the coolest sounding amps I’ve ever heard.
I just picked up one of these a few months ago and have been loving it so far. Seems these amps are starting to gain the notoriety they deserve.
That tone you have dialed up at the beginning of the video with this thing is SO GREEN DAY! Love IT!
You know, I bet with a Les Paul Jr it would be perfect for Nimrod era tones!
Great demo, dude. You really dial in a nice amount of bite, punch, and clarity that are missing in other demos of this amp. Shows how aggressive it can sound for a rock amp.
Sounds amazing man!!!🤘🤘🤘
I tried this one out -- I really like it. I'm very close to pulling the trigger. That into tune was fun bro -- Thanks Ben!
Bro, that was sick! Love the hang on the bend in the lead. Sounds awesome! Going to listen again.....
Loved the sTank face solo in there Benjamin bhai. Killer tones all the way. ✌🏼😊
Bad Cat really knocked this one out of the park!
Seriously. My favorite amp they’ve built yet.
I like nice things and therefore LIKED this video (along with that killer intro song that kept me smiling). Thanks, buddy. Happy Thanksgiving.
Killer amp. Dude on the guitar wasn't bad either. Tasty AF phrasing in that solo break.🤘
Sounds great Unc.
Thanks buuuuddy
Very cool man. I like it. Sounds great. Seems very diverse 😎🎸🤙
wow, sounded amazing to me. nice playing to show it off too.
You got the groove 🤘
Trying to! Thanks!
Best Jet Black demo so far.
This sounds awesome man. I run the Badcat fan page on facebook, and I am looking forward to the Jet Black they are sending me to try out. Thanks again for the awesome demo😎🎸🤘
Are those point to point wired ?
I thought you said "Meat Machines" and I was like, " hell yeah you are brother"
Hahahaha
Sounds amazing! Have a Happy Thanksgiving uncle Ben!
Thanks! You too!
Sounds fantastic my dude! Love this demo👍
Thank you for your honesty Zom-Ben!
Yeah, "What Do You Do For Money Honey". 🤘😃🤘
Thank you for another slice of fried gold Uncle Ben, how about a break down of that song ? it was wicked, so much groove 👍
Pure Rock Fury as in from my favorite band Clutch???
Have a Happy Thanksgiving Uncle Ben.........!!!!!!!!!!
Same to you!
If I'm looking for a new cross-genre amp, I am now going to be checking that out. Thank you for the review! 😎😎🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
I think you’d love this one!
7:25 - 8:09
That is a great classic rock/hard rock tone !
Next amp for sure.
Uncle Ben with the Dad guitars!
*step dad guitars
Black is the new Orange.
Great video. I am tempted to snatch one up.
You should! Killer tones.
@BenEller As a beginner player, Vox AC30 is telling me not 😆.
Uncle ben that amp sounds great, think i could borrow it this weekend? If ur not using of course.
Great amp uncle Ben🤘🏻
Can you try Peavey windsor 100 watt head? I'm curious about you thinking about it...
Hello, any plans for some Mastodon anytime soon? How do you like latest record? I haven't seen or hear you upload or say anything about it and im curious because Mastodon is a frequent guest on the channel. I personally think its a bit watered down, has a lot of meandering, features good parts but the band seem not to find a good followup to it (it fits but loses what been accomplished by previous part), so to summarize some good parts (for example pain with an anchor outro or savage lands main riff) that have wrong followup which loses the interest of the listener. Also, to me, they overdid Brann's vocals, its just to much compared to Brent and Troy's vocals. Songs that stood out for me were awesome pushing the tides, more than i could chew and skeleton of splendor. What do you think as a fellow Mastodon aficionado?
*UNCLE BEN!*
HI!
Poopin right now!!!!!!!!
Tht does sound good . A bit tempting .
I love that intro song Uncle Ben ...is that an old prism tune
Nope, all mine. Thanks!
@@BenEller hell yeah Brother that's an amazing tune
Thanks for showing me all these perfect tones, just so I can butcher them in practice.
Hahaha
A really great demo video! However, I'd like to hear this amp with a P-90 guitar and a treble booster.
almost Big Wreck like... even the mix :D
I've finally figured out who you look like! Scott Stapp, but you can play like Mark Tremonti! Happy Thanksgiving dude!
That first riff sounded like Cheryl crow
If it makes you happy
I don’t recommend drinking a fair amount of whisky before listening to that tremolo effect…whew.
The intro jam reminds me of Stone Temple Pilots
Rippin dude.
Sounds like an oak tree...in a good way.
Room starting to look like a caricature, there’s almost no room left for Uncle Ben soon…
Hahaha what a lovely problem to have
How is this compaired to the hot cat? Sound wise
This has less gain overall, and more of that chimey Vox character. Heck, might be a fun A/B video!
Upon information and belief, plaintiffs state that Pure Rock Fury is a registered trademark of Clutch.
This doesn’t sound like it.
Hey Ben! Is this amp digital or tube?
All tube.
Built like a Mesa but, sounds like a not as aggressive Marshall
I can't quite approximate the tone of bad cat amps. Sometimes they sound kinda like a modded marshall, this one sounds like a tweedy/jtm-like with reverb and tremolo, has its own thing. Need to try one in person so bad....cat?(sorry)
definitely try to find one and play it yourself! you're right that they sprout from the british lineage (marshall, vox, orange, etc) but we tend to think of the "bad cat sound" as really being about a higher level of clarity and touch-responsiveness. the gain range, eq and general topology are a bit different across the lineup, but it's absolutely necessary that each amp retains that string separation and dynamic depth whether the gain is dimed or you're at bedroom levels, and to be tuned such that the full range of EQ settings stay musical and utilitarian. it's not easy to design an amp that's so responsive and flexible no matter how you set it and what guitar you feed it but that's typically the thing that makes players choose bad cat over the competitors.
To me, it’s a uniquely British tone, with elements of Vox AND Marshall amps.
Thanks ash and uncle ben. Appreciate the info, honestly
Completely off-topic question, but I gotta ask how the hell do you manage to play complicated riffs without your mouth spazzing all over the place!? Every time I go back and watch myself play my mouth is going nuts haha
How do you feel this compares to the current version hot cat?
Hot Cat is great! Overall, more gain, and smoother mids.
so more gain and smoother mids on the hot cat? its the only one ive actually played but that was a few months ago for 15 min. thanks@@BenEller
Yeah, that’s correct. It’s a great amp, too. Just depends on how aggressive of tones you’re after.
Only way it could be better is if you ran it through a dimed grunge pedal .
What was I thinking?! I have TWO Grunge pedals right here waiting for the job!!
I don't know it sounds thin to me. Not my cup of tea. I doubt it's the strat.
Had BadCats before.. not for me, articulation is not even comparable to Mesa.
