Great video, questions. Will it work if I connect those cameras directly to NVR? What's the point of Switch > Router I think to get internet right only. What's the difference? Where is the Uplink of that router to get internet?
Thank you for your questions, if you connect cameras directly to the NVR they will work. The POE switch has a couple of uses, if the NVR can handle 32 cameras, many times the actual direct connections on the NVR can be 16. The POE switch adds the additional direct lines to get more cameras connected to the NVR. Connecting to the internet requires connecting the NVR to the Internet Provider. Hope this helps answer your questions. Let us know how we can assist.

Is it possible to connect the external switch to one of the NVR Internal Switch Ethernet ports (usually used for cameras) so that the cameras connected to the External Switch are assigned ip addresses from the nvr internal switch, so the cameras on the external switch appear to be on the internal switch’s network?
Yes, in order to use all the channels that NVR's or DVR's offer you need to use an external switch to add more cameras. Many NVR's and DVR's do not have all the ports needed in the back. For example, an NVR that can handle 32 Cameras may only have 16 ports available, you would need an external switch to add the additional 16 cameras. However if a recorder is not able to handle more than 16 channels, adding a switch to add over that capacity will not work. The key is, how many channels can your recorder handle.
Hello, thank you for this clear explanation. I have one question. I have connected the Nvr to the PoE switch. The PoE switch is connected to the router. If I search the cameras, he sees them, but al have the same ip adres and same image. How can I change this? Thank you in advance!
You will need to use the appropriate IP configuration tool. Scan for the cameras with the tool, then assign IP addresses that follow the general network scheme. The tool will depend on the product line.
ENS Security Plainview | Professional Security System Wholesaler thank you for the quick answer! I don’t think I have a config tool for this camera system.
Does those cameras supports PoE? What if those cameras/devices doesn't? Is this setup still applicable? About the setup on your IP addresses of the cameras, is it remotely viewable? Because, I think if the IP address is different to the network, it wouldn't be remotely viewable. Right? Correct me if i'm wrong. Thanks!
yes, it supports POE.it's still applicable, just need to make sure the cameras/devised get powered up. The IP address should set according to the local network. The IP address on the Video is an example to show how to setup.
You can also connect the NVR LAN port into any available port on the PoE switch. It is recommended for the PoE Switch to have an UPLINK port so it can be connected to the Router. If the PoE switch does not have an UPLINK port then simply connect one of the PoE ports to the router. So basically everything would be connected to the PoE Ports on the switch. NVR, IP Cameras and Router.
Yes. You can connect them this way. 1. Switch 2 is connected to switch 1 and the NVR can be connected to any Switch or directly to the Router as long as the Switch 1 is connected to the router. 2 Switch 2 is connected to switch 1 and NVR is connected to the router as long as switch 1 is connected to the router.
what will happen to 2 NVRs and few ip cameras connected within the same network? Does this mean both NVRs will sense all cameras ,I mean same cameras in NVR 1 will appear in NVR 2
@@dicksonkimanzi9510 You can have 1 IP camera connected to 2 NVRS or more as long as the IP cameras are connected to the External PoE switch and they have their local static ip address. So on each NVR you will need to add the ip cameras manually using the ip addresses of each ip camera that you want to display on the NVR.
Great Video! Question: SInce this setup is already connected to the network switch, can we do away the NVR and retrieve the video footage on a desktop PC instead? If it is possible, is there software available for me to interact with the cameras on a PC without a NVR?
Yes that can be possible, but the Computer needs to be 24/7 ON in order to Record. Also make sure that your IP cameras Have a CMS Software. I really dont know what type of cameras you have at the moment but if they are Our Brand you can go to our website and download the NVMS1000 for windows or NVMS1200 for MAC under Support. Note that the HDD on the computer needs to have a large space for the IP video recording and also that the CMS does not work exactly like a regular NVR.
I'm new to all of this can you plug the bot into the router and see the cameras on your computer or do you have to gave an nvr. I was think of recording using my computer or can you do that.great video btw
You dont need to have an NVR to Watch the IP cameras remotely from a Computer. Some IP cameras have a software that would allow you to make your PC to record as an NVR but the PC needs to be on 24/7 just like an NVR would be. Also, the software allows you to see all IP cameras on the screen as if you had an NVR.
@@ENSSecurity I thought that was the case as far as using a PC I'm guessing you have to have some kind of Hub to plug all the cameras into and of course power them if you're using Poe
Can I connect the router to the POE switch instead of the NVR and the NVR directly to the POE switch? I ask the question because I think it will be better in case that there is no power and the NVR and the POE is running with a battery backup. And if that is the case what is the process to setup everything on the NVR?
Yes, you will be able to connect everything to the PoE switch. Remember that the UpLink port on the PoE is the one that is going to be connected to the router. Hope this helps.
meaning if we want to achieve this, we need POE switch that has more ports, right? anyhow...i was wondering, what is the difference between these 2 connection types; NVR to router VS NVR to POE switch? Please advice. Thank you.
If you connect the NVR to the PoE switch and the PoE switch to the router makes no difference as the other way. The only thing is that if you connect the IP cameras to the PoE switch then the NVR would Auto configure the IP cameras instead of adding them manually
@@cktrading72 Hello, It will depend on whether the DVR accepts IP Cameras. If the DVR does accept IP cameras, you typically need a PoE switch with 802.3af(PoE) or 802.3at(PoE+) compliance.
Hi what if i want to have 2 poe switch? Does it work 2 cameras every switch ( wanna use the second switch to another building) so that only 1 cable for 2 cameras long range
If you have 2 or 3 PoE switch you can connect them this way. From the Router connect a CAT5/6 To the first PoE switch on the UPLINK port, then plug one CAT5/6 on any PoE port in the PoE Switch and connect it to the 2nd PoE Switch on the UPLINK Port. This way you can connect as many cameras as the PoE switch is capable of using just one cable run to the Router. Note. You can also connect the NVR into the PoE Switch, Just make sure you connect the LAN port of the NVR to any available port on the PoE Switch.
Excellent video....very well explained. However, I have a two questions I am hoping you can assist with. Q1... The configuration software that you use to check the settings of the network, and also add the cameras. Is this standard software that comes with the NVR or is it an additional purchase. And in addition to this, if the software is part of the NVR, where are you viewing this to enable you to adjust the settings. Is it via a HDMI cable to a monitor or to a PC screen. Q2... If one of these cameras was say a very high end IP PTZ camera whereby it needs additional power, say 12 or 24v, how do you connect this if the camera is say 15 to 20 mts from the camera to the POE switch. I'm sure the Adaptor does not have a cable that long. Is it possible to add a video on how this would be setup. I am thinking of getting a system using 1 or 2 IP PTZ cameras (high end) and want to ensure I get the right POE and NVR. I wouod also like it to work with a Apple environment NOT WINDOWS. Any assistance would be helpful...I find your videos very informative...Keep up the great work.
Q1 A1.. That is part of the NVR interface and there is no additional Purchase. It comes standard on all our NVRS. Q2 A2. Most cases IP PTZ cameras Installers Run a Pair of 18 Gage wire to provide power. If the PTZ needs 24V AC you can run 24V AC on 18 Gage cable easily 800Ft. If you are running 12V DC you can easily run 200Ft. The connections as for the network stays the same. IP Cameras to PoE switch, PoE switch to the Router and NVR to the Router.. The NVR has a software client for PC and MAC OSX. Mobile remote is fully supported with Apple and Android devices. "Super Live Plus" that's the app name. Note: If you buy a NVR system and have IP cameras from different manufactures this features might not apply. It is recommended to have the NVR and IP cameras from the same manufacture or brand to work best. Thank you i hope you find this useful.
Yes I did, thank you. Just wish you guys operated here in Australia, would get you to provide and install the system. Have a very hard time getting reliable feed back here. I am looking to spend a reasonable amount, just want it done properly.
After connecting all the cameras to the NVR, can I now view all the cameras from different location in the house eg different rooms on a regular smart Tv as Monitor? If possible, how to go about seeing this up??
You can view the cameras on the TV as connecting the regular monitor via HDMI or VGA port of NVR. If you ask for the app support on smart TV, SuperLive Plus (Titanium app) doesn't support on smart TVs.

@@ENSSecurity hey good day again to you. I was wondering if I could use a HDMI to ETHERNET adapter to transmit the video signal from my NVR to multiple TVs in different locations as a monitor to be able to view my network cameras??
if I have a 16 channel NVR with 16 IP cameras can I group them either by 2X 8 port POE switch or 4 x 4 Port POE switch as long as the uplinks of each POE Switch and the LAN of the NVR is connected to the same router? Secondly could I add another router from one of my main router ethernet ports to handle my IP Cameras and NVR so I don't have too much overload on my main router between the IP CCTV system and other computers and tablets on the same network! Basically I want my IP CCTV system to have a dedicated network from my home computer/tablet network! PS: In my current home I have a 8CH NVR with 8 IP Cameras which are connected via the POE ports of the NVR, However I might be purchasing a bigger home which requires double the cameras that I currently have now and the structure seems to have more obstacles than my current home to have all 16 ethernet cables to meet at the same point!
The answer to both of your questions is Yes you can. You might need to add the IP cameras manually because they are not connected directly to the PoE Ports on the NVR If they are EasternCCTV Titanium Series IP cameras and you have a titanium NVR just follow the steps on this video. If they are not EasternCCTV then you might need to refer to their manual or call their Tech support =)
would I be correct to say that direct connection to the POE Ports of the NVR the IP cameras are automatically assigned IP addresses by the ports that each is connected to?
Yes. The NVR would automatically assign and configure the IP camera. In order to do so the NVR and the IP camera has to be the same brand and of course they need to support Plug & Play Feature.
if you connect the NVR LAN port to the External PoE Switch and the switch to the router then it will work. if you connect the POE switch to one of the POE ports on the NVR, there might be a chance that it might not work. also, the NVR has a limit to the number of IP cameras that you can add.
Do you connect the land cable from your modem to your router or can you connect directly to the Poe uplink using a gateway if your Poe switch has 2 uplink switches I don’t see where you connected a land cable into the Poe switch or the router in order to gain internet access
@@mrpierce17Pierce there are two ways you can connect them. 1. Connect the LAN port of the DVR/NVR to the Your Router and connect the UPLINK port of the PoE switch onto the Router as well. Way number 2. Connect the LAN port of the DVR/NVR to any port on the PoE switch along with the IP cameras and then connect the UPLINK Port of the PoE switch to Your Router. It is recommended to have a Router and not just a modem. Nowadays usually your ISP gives you a Router/Modem 2in1. So connect them this way and you should be fine.
hello is it possible to do the same thing but creating a Point too Point with Ubiquiti antennas then connecting cameras under a poe switch and the switch poe under the reception antenna ubiquiti? so that the cameras are seen?
Hi, You may use PtP Ubiquiti antennas to transmit data but will need to make sure the equipment can support the total bitrate of all cameras transmitting data. It is preferable to pre-configure IP addresses on the IP cameras when doing this if the PoE switch where the cameras are directly connected to are difficult to get to with a laptop because scanning tools may not find the cameras across the Ubiquiti equipment.

Question? I assume that the cameras run off of the Ethernet cable power as the dc leads are disconnected. Is this correct?
Yes, that is correct. As long as the camera is Power-over-Ethernet capable and connected to a PoE switch.
Very good teaching video
I'm Planning to connect Poe switch to without Poe NVR is this work or not ? can i have a reply ?
Yes it will work.
Nice man!👍
Amazing video, thank you.God bles you.
Soo Good Explaine
Does the POE switch need an uplink port? My NVR network system will be separate from my internet network.
Thank you .. very well explained.
Thanks great info! Helped me out!
Another great video!
Very helpful!
Thank you Very Much Thank you for watching. =)
Can you have two or more POE switches plugged into a network then the one ethernet cable plugging into the NVR?
Dickson Kimanzi I don’t know. I’m trying to learn as much as possible.
@@quintriggins6557 Any questions feel free to ask. =)
Great Video to get knowledge Good luck Sir to you
Thank you, =)
I'm new to all of this can you plug the bot into the router and see the cameras on your computer or do you have to gave an nvr.
@@ENSSecurity thank you by the way preciate your reply
@@nightstringers Correct.
Thank You sir😘😘
Hi, what if I don't have a Nvr but DVR is it possible to connect Ip cameras to a Ip cams?
Hello, could you clarify a bit? If you have a DVR that supports ONVIF IP Cameras, you could add them to the unit.
@@ENSSecurity Hi,I have a DVR and Ip cam can this 2 be connected with a switch, what kind?
@@cktrading72 Hello, It will depend on whether the DVR accepts IP Cameras. If the DVR does accept IP cameras, you typically need a PoE switch with 802.3af(PoE) or 802.3at(PoE+) compliance.
@@ENSSecurity thanks
Can you connect more than one NVR to the PoE switch?
Thanks for the video
Good video! Thank you!
Great video.
Do I need to have internet for this or can I do it all locally without an internet connection?
You don't need the internet but you need the router because it's responsible for the DHCP server that manage the IP addresses.

If I had a ethernet switch that had more POE ports than the NVR's POE ports, how many cameras could i connect to it?
Hi
How to connect ip camera hikvision with nvr different brand
After connecting all the cameras to the NVR, can I now view all the cameras from different location in the house eg different rooms on a regular smart Tv as Monitor? If possible, how to go about seeing this up??
You can view the cameras on the TV as connecting the regular monitor via HDMI or VGA port of NVR.
If you ask for the app support on smart TV, SuperLive Plus (Titanium app) doesn't support on smart TVs.
@@ENSSecurity so the situation is my customer has 5 smart TVs all in different rooms/locations, he wants to be able to view the cameras on all the TVs. Would I have to use a HDMI splitter or is it way to do it over the Ethernet?
@@ENSSecurity hey good day again to you. I was wondering if I could use a HDMI to ETHERNET adapter to transmit the video signal from my NVR to multiple TVs in different locations as a monitor to be able to view my network cameras??

great tutorial !
if I have a 16 channel NVR with 16 IP cameras can I group them either by 2X 8 port POE switch or 4 x 4 Port POE switch as long as the uplinks of each POE Switch and the LAN of the NVR is connected to the same router?
Hi what if i plugged a whole bunch of Cameras to the NVR and use another Switch to NVR and connect more cameras to the Switch will it work?
if you connect the NVR LAN port to the External PoE Switch and the switch to the router then it will work. if you connect the POE switch to one of the POE ports on the NVR, there might be a chance that it might not work. also, the NVR has a limit to the number of IP cameras that you can add.
Great tutorial clip
Ok so can you use a gateway if not how do you connect to the internet for cloud access
Hi, Can you rephrase your question because is not clear. I can't understand what is the question sir.
Got it thank you
hello is it possible to do the same thing but creating a Point too Point with Ubiquiti antennas then connecting cameras under a poe switch and the switch poe under the reception antenna ubiquiti?
so that the cameras are seen?
Hi, You may use PtP Ubiquiti antennas to transmit data but will need to make sure the equipment can support the total bitrate of all cameras transmitting data. It is preferable to pre-configure IP addresses on the IP cameras when doing this if the PoE switch where the cameras are directly connected to are difficult to get to with a laptop because scanning tools may not find the cameras across the Ubiquiti equipment.
