    When you showed your meal cooking in that cast iron skillet I really believed I could smell it frying. Sure looked good. Found an app for COE lake side camp grounds. I didn’t know it but there are three South Carolina just over a hundred miles from me. Talked to Kompact Kamp this morning. My adventure is getting closer to becoming a reality. My local Harley dealer has a hitch ordered for my Tri-Glide. Who knows we may run into each other some day. Thanks for the inspiration to get my 70 something tail out of the woods.

      One of the things I like best about hauling a tent trailer... one can carry a decent stove and cooking gear. After a day on the road the last thing one wants to do it get all dressed again to go find a restaurant. I xan eat better and a lot cheaper at camp. Glad to see you will be getting out.

      That was an event that I never want to duplicate and I posted so others would think twice about checking their safety chains. I was still in my early hauling days.

    I really enjoy your adventures, as I senior I can identify. This year after 7 years off a bike I am getting back at it and doing some camping - with my Pug! My only concern is that you wouldn't drag your feet on the ground as you start up- this is an easy way to catch a boot and break and ankle; take it from me! Ride safe and have a great 2020!

      I've got a Noma 50 watt panel that I bought at Canadian Tire when it was on sale for 1/2 price. It's doing the job so far. I was using a standard cigarette style plug and "waterproof" outlet on the trailer. I just swapped that out for an aviation style 2 pin. Have not edited that video yet. Got a few electrical tweaks I'm doing still.

    Interesting project. What was the sleeping bag you mentioned?

    • @OldGuyonaBike
      @OldGuyonaBike  3 года назад

      God, I've got some old gear. They are a Woods brand product. They no longer seem to make this one and they don't have a magic name for the filler anymore. These ones are rated down to only 7C/44F but of course that is survival rating not comfort. I bought those particular ones as they were in a "tall" length, would zip together to make a large sleeping bag for two on occassion and they were also on sale at our Canadian Tire at the time. I have had them over 10 years. I already had a big -10C sleeping bag that just doesn't work for bike camping. I just came off a 3 day cold weather bike ride, video won't be edited for a few weeks, and i put one bag within the other and slid a 12 volt electric throw inbetween the two layers. The electric blanket (running on my solar batteries), on low, auto shuts off after 45 min. Turned it on when lying down,and once in the middle of the night. I was quite comfortable. Sleeping bag shopping is always fun but at least this time of the year one can find sales.

    • @OldGuyonaBike
      @OldGuyonaBike  3 года назад

      I'm using a Woods, MicroLite sleeping bag filled with "Quadratherm Plus" (what ever that is) I bought 2 of them over 12 years ago. These do join together. I'm 6'3" so I like the fact they are long i.e. 75 l" x 33"w single zipped up. They have a 7C/45F rating and I have used them down to 0C/32F with one stuffed in the other, a cheap ripstock liner and a quilt over me. I was in long johns and thermal base layer. They are my goto for camping. With the compression sacks they take up very little room. I don't know if they make the same product now but there must be something similar.

      That is a Canadian Tire trailer jack, lists for $50 but always wait for it to be on sale. It is generic, a lot of automotive and boat trailer places carry them. This one fits from 2" square tubing (Mini Mate) up to 3" square tubing. It does make a big difference in set up and moving it around the garage.

    Theater technician and uses a swell bottle :D Are we related? What is it about making a puzzle trailer that I'm finding so appealing? And I'm a hammock camper! I'm breaking my brain trying to justify some design to make a Mini into a portable camp kitchen.

      @OldGuyonaBike  3 года назад

      All my modifications have their root in touring shows lol. Still tweaking and can't wait to get camping in late May. The best thing about going to trailer camping is the cooking possibilities. I haven't been in a lot of areas where hammock camping is easy. Lots of evergreens and scrub up here.

      I'm pretty good at keeping track of my blinkers... no, this is a common thing with action cameras fliming at 60 frames per second. LED lights cycle on and off quicker than our eyes register but the camera picks it up. Not all the time, but quite a bit of the time. I've also had a couple of times when car headlights coming towards me seem to be pulsing but it's due to their LEDs.
