I was privileged to have attended joe cocker in brussels it was unforgettable. In 1972 I lived in Amsterdam very close to Brussels and other capitals. I had the opportunity to see Jimmy Hendrix in Paris and Led Zeppelin in Amsterdam...it was a unique musical time.

+Deanna Kramer All the talent is kind of back underground like R&B, Blues and Rock and Roll was in the beginning. The crap on the radio today is all unimaginative, cold, computer generated junk.
Drown In My Own Tears was a favorite of mine. Back in the 60s and early 70s when I was playing and singing in a band, we did a slower arrangement of it, more bluesy, with horns. I was always surprised that Cocker never did a version of it.

Joe played a bit of harmonica and piano, but as far as I know, he was never recognised as a musician, yet he made it to the top in the music business. There's a lesson there somewhere. He found a niche as singer in a genre that suited him and with his own voice. He had help, particularly in the early days, with Chris Stainton but he made it. Like Eric Burden, Ozzie and others, he made it as himself. Whether in music or anything else, find your voice and let it go. Who knows where you might finish up.

I'm a Joe Cocker fan. I became a bigger fan after I heard his version of this Ray Charles song Unchain My Heart. His voice had so much raw power which was already evident at Woodstock when he had performed the Beatles classic A little help from my friends. His version of this Ray Charles song though ( Unchain My Heart ) made made me a much bigger fan of his. Saddly Joe Cocker has left us too soon. He's moved on but he's not at all forgotten. R. I. P. Joe Cocker. You're loved and your legacy lives on. Thank you for the great music. You had fire and soul in that great voice. R.I.P. Joe Cocker.
