This video makes me happy. Not only the colab with Robert "Aging Wheels" Dunn, but the dragged JR, quirky cars... AND the working electric Frankenstein bike.
I used to know a guy back in the 90's who built a "Custom" Honda C90. One of the mods he did was cobble together a set of conventional telescopic forks for it. He said the biggest hurdle was finding a set of yolks that had a long enough stem to reach all the way through the standard headstock, but after that the rest was just a relatively easy job of finding fork legs with the right stanchion diameter for the yolks that were a suitable length, then finding a brake drum hub that would fit the fork legs backplate locating tab (The bit that stops the backplate spinning with the wheel). The final collection of bits all just bolted together like they were always meant to be there. I think the only one off bits were some spindle spacers he needed to make to get the wheel centred properly. Annoyingly, he did actually tell me what all the parts originally came off at the time, but this was all well over 25 years ago, and these days I have trouble remembering past details as big as ex girlfriends names, so the parts used in SOMEONE ELSE'S project bike has no chance of sticking in my head, and unfortunately he's no longer around for me to ask him. 🙁
zongshen still makes a copy of the old-old version of honda cub under their brand Ryuka, with model name Classic. it's a bit crappy compared to modern honda wave or whatever like that, but it's the cheapest 110cc you can get, even though like said the frame etc is more sized for original 50cc cub.
ok, genuinely impressed... it has been a while since you posted any ev swapping shenanigans... this is satisfying and you got you both visit with the aging wheels 'i have yet to finish the escape dual motor swap' Robert Aaand you re-purposed and improved upon an old bike... now... shall we start talking about ev swap KITS? pick the three top ICE vehicles sold or on the road... find how to convert, manufacture adapter and supply parts list/suppliers... you only make the adapter [i'm talking about manual transmissions only, of course]
Cool, this was fun. The off-road tires make sense as a security feature, the motor is too silent so at least the tires will alert innocent pedestrians... 😁
That was a lot of fun! With those plastic sheilds on , it looks great, and no longer screens "science project". It's always great to see two RUclipsrs collaborate, and you both have very wry and twisted senses of humour which made this episode very enjoyable.
You gotta love Robert. He's always come across on camera like a hyperactive Labrador puppy of a guy. Incredibly entertaining to watch, dangerously inquisitive, infectiously up beat.......... and you wouldn't be THAT surprised if you found his teeth marks all over your phone charging cable if he was left alone in your home for 10 minutes. 😁 He's one of those people I'd love to meet, but would be slightly scared that he wasn't the same guy when not being filmed.
Always great seeing a 100 💯 % Jake video. Like I said on your Patreon page, you alwys have the best background music. Best of luck with this project and the others. I see you are having some work done on the house.
Shenanigans and automotive history. Who could ask for anything more. Cool result. Maybe just needs a luggage rack or “pillion” seat to cover up the wiring. 10+ years ago my kids and I built a Quadra-ped from golf cart type plans, and of course modified it to an “F1” style vehicle. Eventually I added battery assist and it can do about 30 mph. Just never put your feet down at even low speeds or you’ll be dragged under in quite a surprise fashion. More stable than a trike, but more dangerous in other ways. And fun was had by all….
When I was 16, my dad came home with a bright yellow Honda C70 that was about 8 years old. It wasn't particularly well cared for but with some cleaning and a good dose of maintenance, I rode that thing everywhere. Topped out around 50, ran forever on a tank of fuel. Not shure why every color they offered came with that brown and white seat, I'm sure it was Honda saving a buck.
Zip ties, hot glue, duct tape… I’m actually impressed nobody asked Robert for an angle grinder when they were adjusting the battery holder. Also, Robert and Jake in the twike: oh god this is terrifying Everybody else in the same road: who are those clowns driving an egg?
Make a pannier frame, bolt to the bike frame and bolt a top case on it. Stuff that topcase with batteries and hook it up in parallel to the other battery. Instant increase in range.
I want to see Hoovie on this bike PS. April can go for a ride too. Separate time of course, Hoovie isn’t Paul Newman with April on the handle bars.. haha
I guess in my mind you'd have a smaller battery as a reserve, so when the main battery dies you can switch to reserve to make it home, just like the motorbikes of old.
Yeah. Could have an "on/off/reserve" switch on the side of the bike just like the fuel petcock on a gas bike. Only issue is that a small battery would have smaller ampacity, so you'd have to have a really good idea of how much throttle you can apply to not draw too many amps from it and trip the BMS.
problem with amphours is that the real capacity changes with the voltage. watthours can tell you the real capicity without doing any math. you would probably think that 50ah at 50volts is bigger than 40ah and 100volts
I personally prefer amphours+volts when talking about battery specs because then I can make a decent guess on current capacity based on a lot of batteries being at least 1C discharge.
Cool bike. With such a large battery you think it would get more range but that 1980's frame probably ain't light. Wish you had gone into a bit more detail on the build. The EV videos are your best.
The battery is still only 60V 18.2Ah, so a little over 1kWh. The built itself is extremely simple. QS Hub motor hooked up to a motor controller (in my case a 140 amp Fardriver) and pos+neg to the battery. There's a 12v voltage converter that runs all of the lights, for some reason the ignition relay also runs on 12v (not how I would have done it personally) but all of the "chassis wiring" is semi-inscrutible 18 gauge wire that I haven't untangled because, well, it works, and it's all loomed together really pretty. The gauge itself is just a chinese gauge designed to work with the fardriver. Three wires between the two and away it goes.
Is there a reason you didn't bother to move that strap that kept swinging back and forth in front of your face? Because it wasn't distracting at all 🤨. The guy wearing the mom jeans has the 2nd most annoying thing in the video that being his hi pitched hysterical laughing 😵💫

Watch Aging Jake Go
100percent aging watch jake r go wheels
YES! the collab i never knew i needed, but I did. great stuff Jake!
Seems like Robert is great to work with. I always tune in to any of his collabs.
Watching Robert kackle histarically at someone else's terror in a vehicle he hasn't even mastered yet is hilarious.
100PercentAgingWheels is the super group we're here for. Also the Super Cub is AWESOME!

Very cool project, and fast... You and Robert do an amazing team...
Jake we need videos in the Insight ❤❤
👀
17:09 This shot with 100PercentGirlfriend, the red-roofed building, and the little red-topped fire hydrant at the end is pure Francis Ford Jakeola.
Any collab with Robert is always going to be good.👍

Yes! This is one of the collabs I’ve hoped for years would eventually happen.
These two tisms combined really fills my heart with joy.
Get a rear carrier and you'll hide all those unseemly wires
An EV Super Cub, a weird Bicycle Car and a freaking LADA in one video... Amazing!
If Rob offered me a ride in the Twike, I would 100% need a new pair of pants 😂

man... this brought memories from the bus.....
That is cool.
I have a 1984 Jawa Shopper that I am playing with the idea of EV swapping.

Love that I gave you a chance after seeing robert in the thumbnail. Love aging wheels.
i love my little honda trail 90s with the dual range transmission. How learned to work on engines.

What an adorable budding brolationship!
If you are ever offered a Piper super cub also say yes.
Love the video, thanks Jake. You and Robert are great together!
It’s a cool little build. Very practical
You need the long seat for it. It’ll cover the taillight wiring, too.
Add battery capacity on the rear deck. Build somthing retro,or a red metal gas can with battery inside. I.e. disguise the battery
I really enjoyed this video!
White fenders would complete the look. A package tray can cover the wiring too.
Looks like you all have a great time :)

You can get a back rack for the cub. I regularly have 40 plus lbs on it. And i cruise at 55. 1980 honda c70. 125cc zongshen engine.
The music at 16:30 Set off some serious Mall vibes.
We know it's been awhile as Robert was in the midst of insulating his workshop ;).
100percentJank.

Also,
Robert and Jake in the twike: oh god this is terrifying
Everybody else in the same road: who are those clowns driving an egg?
Zeitgeist! Screwdriver! Go Jake! Style all your own.
Did'nt know that there are TWO handsome funny guys "there overseas" and that they know each other.
Kind greetings from Germany!

Faster, it's alright!
My dad bought me a ct90 when I was 12. Best introduction to automobiles.
You are correct about the amperage and it all depends on the battery
so was it you or John that crashed the solo? never mind if its was over a year ago it probably wasnt you guys
My guy with the Earthbound/Mother 3 reference.
Just remember, the Lada is just a 1969 Fiat 124...
Today On Aging Weeds,You See Everything But The Trip To Taco Bell 😂 BEST EPISODE EVAR!!! ❤
We need to get you the temporary wiring shirt from questionable garage
Hi I'm just here to remind you of every thing you've ever said wrong ever.
Oh no, Robert seems to have gained more nephews.
Once I seen the Solo I was like oh. This must be the day of the roll over...
Looks Great Jake.
Oh, you’re turning a Honda Super Cub into an e-bike. Does that mean it’s an E Honda? “DOSUKOI!”
You should get one of those little behind seat fairings like a cafe racer…lol
Fat tires and ape hangers.
You have a new subscriber 👍

That won't ever happen.
100Percent Aging Wheels!
This is a pretty great colab...
Three wheeler with single front wheel has never worked out.
Hey, is that Robert? It is Robert! HI ROBERT!
This is what we need as a society. $3k or less if we can get it.
Put the wires in a wire loom glued to the underside of the rear fender.
I love a good Bog Seat
Because amp hours aren't comparable between different voltages? A 36v 20ah and a 52v 20ah are *very* different capacities.
That actually has more power than my CT 200 so enjoy

Put a luggage rack on the back for another battery.

You should have dumped the hub motor and then started over!
You could swap the front suspension from a >1969 CT90 if you wanted proper front forks. You loose some of the look unfortubately

I'm not sure if you can still call it a Honda now, but it's still going. So i'll allow it.😏
I like the screwdriver mic.
Gorgeous battery 😂
Is it me, or does Wichita have the worst streets?
ETA: what the hell is going on with the back of your house?
It's not you. Our streets are really bad. It's tempting to drive in the ditch or sidewalk
😂
ah... saved the vid til you were done... that explains the time travel regarding robert dunn
I've been thinking about getting a brand new Super Cub for about a year. I kinda want it but I'm not a motorcycle person at all.
Not going to lie. I want it
Looks horrifyingly slow... Just like the original! :-)
Great vidoe gents
show up to next year's kansas city moped rally
well its no sur-ron so im sure @johnhicks wont be riding it any time soon...
Was that a LADA?
Is that Hoovie's Lada?
is there a link for the controller you used?
Mine is an ND72360 w Bluetooth from E-Conic Cycles.
One question..... WHY
Don't Electric Bikes/Motorbikes need a Licence plate? 🤔
Not in Kansas 😂
WTH happened to the back of your garage?
Not his garage.
Nah
Was this filmed many days ago or did Robert buy the Lada back from Weezard?
Ah, I should have waited until the end to speak.

Jake - I don't get it - the world vehicle with the lowest carbon footprint - Why increase it?
first
Sew watt 🤷🏼
