hello! will be going to KU this fall and was wondering if u tried requesting for a transfer from CJ to Anam Int? I was assigned a CJ double and I'm thinking of appealing to Anam because all my friends are there :'( I'm also scared of being assigned to a 5 people suite haha. would like to understand the differences between Anam and CJ better, such as for heating since it will be winter while I'm there too (does CJ have heating?) Thank u in advance and i look forward to ur response!!
It will be very hard to transfer because ANAM is almost always completely full. There are way less rooms in Anam. The dorms are super close to each other so don't worry too much! There are only around 10 rooms that are 5 person dorms. If you do get that appeal it will be awesome but definitely don't expect it
CJ has heating it just works worse. But honestly the building is fine enough you won't be cold. Anam is way less private cuz the bathrooms are open but CJ has like a hall within your dorm room where you can close off the stuff. Anam is more high tech and has a nicer kitchen, CJ is quieter and has more spaces
I am on going on exchange year this fall and looking to stay in the dorms. 1. If I apply to Anam, can I stay the entire year? (Fall, Winter and spring))? Or do I have to re-apply each period? 2. Do I have to leave sometime during the winter period and get temporary housing during the break? Or can students stay in dorms all the time?
You have to reapply each session. I did this as well it really sucks because I had to change rooms each time and move all my crap for winter and spring session. But there will be a few days in-between session they let you stay on the dorm
So Ananam international houses for graduate student and what about CJ like they did not allow undergraduate student in Anam international house or something?
Heyy! I’m gonna be an international student at KU starting fall 2022, and since you mentioned you’ve been there for 3 semesters, i had a quick couple of questions. 1. While browsing KU’s guides on dorms and stuff, i noticed they said there is a period during which it’s cleaned?? I was a little confused and wanted to ask, if that just follows the summer/winter semesters, where you would apply for the winter/summer semester? 2. Is it likely that I would have to go from one dorm to another? Is it common for people to go between CJ/Anam when the next semester starts?
Heyy great choice of school, so the cleaning period is usually in-between spring and summer or fall and winter and you are allowed to stay in the dorm for a few of 13k won per day. The cleaning is annoying but won't be any sort of a bother for you. There is a big chance you will move each semester for me I was in CJ, then moved in another room in CJ for winter and spring I was moved to Anam. It was a bit inconvenient because I had so much crap and you have to move it all out at 10 am and you can't move back in until 3-4 for "cleaning" I'm pretty sure no one even cleans the dorms always have hair on the floor. I know I had a unique situation because there were many COVID guidelines that weren't there before but I'm sure it's very similar still
@@emmanemm how high are the chances of my dorm switching?? I got into anam and i reaaally am not happy w the idea of moving so much crap i am already bringing with me around campus 😭😭
For me I had to move out every single break it sucked. I think they started to fix the issue but it's probably 30-50% chance u will depending on enrollment and covid stuff
@@emmanemm ughh that’s kinda inconvenient but Oh well 😭😭 so from what i understood for the extra couple of days i would be staying at the dorms for ex. between the summer and fall semesters (i think there is like a week or so??) and so on i would have to pay extra per each night?
Very nice video! I'm gonna study master at KU this fall 2022. I have been permitted to a triple room in Anam global house. I have heard that because of the covid-19 epidemic, the room for 3 people can only stay 2 people. Is this regulation still up to now? Do I need any documents to check in for the dormitory? And could you give some reviews of the triple room? Thank you 😄
I haven't actually lived in Anam global dorm but I heard it's pretty average. I think the people per room limit was lifted tho! U also need a tuberculosis test, your flight info, a covid test within 24 hours and just your school entrance info to check in
@@emmanemm Thank you so much. Do I need to check in on the same day I receive the dormitory? (August 20) or can I check in later because I don't think I can make it to Korea on time.
So they are almost always there they have brakes at night time for a few hours but if they're expecting you for moving I'm pretty sure they will be there
CJ is much older, there are single rooms in CJ tho BUT it is all suite-style so even if you live in a single you will be sharing a bathroom with 2-4 other people in your suite. Anam is only double rooms with less privacy but is considerably nicer and more updated but has only one big shared kitchen (gets super crowded) compared to CJ which has two on each floor. I like Anam more but it does have some fallbacks because there is no ATM or heater
Okay then for you, you can get in fairly easily! International students have easier qualifications than korean students. There will be a lot of classes that you may need to take in korean tho, but you might be able to work around it! I think for an international student you just need a good gpa and reference letter and declare that you will be computer science
I am a political science student and there are a lot of majors that offer english classes in the liberal arts feild. The STEM majors have way less english offerings
my friend was taking English computer science classes last semester. Definitely can for a semester or two but completing a degree here will be hard in completely english because many of the required classes are in korean.

Anam international and CJ are both for undergrad international students
Anam Global house (very similar names) is for grad students
