In my admittedly limited experience, it seems that Adventists/former Adventists who reject Ellen White do so for a similar reason that many people reject Christianity as a whole...the teachings serve as a restraint against what that person views as 'freedom'. As an example, I recently listened to a former Adventist who said she wanted to be in theater and felt she was robbed of that calling on her life because her family told her Ellen White said theater is bad. The virtue of theatre is a separate discussion, but the ultimate reason for leaving the church and rejecting Ellen White is because she couldn't do what she wanted. If we understand our condition as a fallen race, then we know that many of the things we desire are actually not in our best interests or the interests of others. As a Christian, what I want is not to be the deciding factor. Jesus, as our Example, submitted to the will of the Father when He said, "Not My will, but Thy will be done." I honestly believe that this is at the root of all this 'Adventism is a cult' and 'Ellen White is a false prophet's stuff. If the teachings of the church were in line with what the world desires, they'd be accepted wholeheartedly. It's because they cut against our desires that they are rejected.
As far as the "a few months", I'm a bit confused as to why this is such an issue when I could see that she was referring to the time of the mark of the beast. That just before that time and in between the little time of trouble, people would have a short time to learn truth or unlearn lies. Isn't that what she is actually referring to?

If you are biased that bias trumps your learned status. IMO this Dr. Daily had a bad experience within the SDA Church and is now and adversary against the SDA Church, particularly EGW. Unfortunately I don't think Myles desires to give a fair representation and space to those he is such adverse to. He has a point and an agenda to carry out. I really do not think that the other pastor really genuinly wanted to hear your explanation. He gets a little defensive when his view is challenged ( views that seems to be disjointed). He also likes to use words like "stupid" etc often. Yet pastor Kevin seemed to be ne able to keep a more collected composure. Myles needs to keep to the role of a moderator because it reflects poorly on him and his intentions when he butts in more often then not.
I think pastor Kevin made a good point. Often criticism can come from a place of past negative experiances, rather then actual fact. It is easy to forget context and lean towards our personal feelings when trying to comprehend the information before you. It's easier to point the finger at someone else then back at you, Becuase then we might have to evaluate our own heart, and that is usually not a nice picture.

Im not SDA but my fisrt look at the pictures of Ellen White had me questioning if she was mixed race,so was surprised to hear the racism accusations.
