    Ahhh Ive spent literally hours looking for a connector tube... The metal has blown out!!!! You saved my life!! I would have never in a million years found this out on my own. I have the exact same issue with the exhaust leaking! Thanks 10000000000000000 :D

      haha Your video saved me from a shitty day as well... I was going crazy looking for some kinda pipe or fitting for the hole and nothing on google anywhere had the answer. It was just blown out. Crazy! You had the exact same problem as I did. I just ordered the part. Cool stuff!

      What do you mean by exhaust leaking? I have some smoke coming out of the tail pipe on mine. I noticed that there is hole directly underneath the egr valve seems like a freeze plug could have been there. Also coolant over the top of the transmission

    This helped a lot. I managed to get one bolt off the actual valve, but that second bolt is impossible. I'm going to try your way. Thanks again!

    one of the most helpful video! I like the speed up comic effect. anyways this video helped me a lot, I have the same problem. PO411 It's so difficult to take off and put back on. Coz I was trying to do it without taking the coolant hose off. It didn't work. You did the right way. again thanks a lot.

      +J Ma Thank you🍻 I'm glad it helped you. I try to show everything that happens when trying to do a job but a lot of people bitch about the length of the videos so I started speeding them up to 150% in order to show as much as possible in the shortest period of time. But like anything else people started bitching about "the chipmunk voice" saying the videos were unwatchable.

    • @ysfma755
      @ysfma755 8 лет назад +1

      haha too funny. I enjoyed the chipmunk voice. It works well for me. I wonder if you remember when you screw the coolant flange back. did you use a new seal, or just old seal or old seal with sealant?

    • @116falconer
      @116falconer  8 лет назад

      +J Ma I went through and watched the original footage and yes I just used the old seal. I also realized that I never put the video together of changing out the pcv valve and hoses, that job was a real nut puncher.

    Such a great in depth video. You made me laugh a few times my friend. I have the same 18T engine in my Audi A3. I think I may have a problem with the dam EGR valve.

      Guillermo Andres Leyton Ensignia I'm contemplating running a sea foam treatment to diagnose my combi valve. My reading suggests it may just need one hell of a cleaning. Was this the case with your combi valve? (Waves from Colorado)

  • @Dxrect

    I have a similar problem, i have the check engine light, my secondairy air pump is so loud at the engine start, i think my EGR Valve is also broke... im not sure tho

    • @116falconer
      @116falconer  8 лет назад

      These cars are a pain in the ass. The check engine light still comes on BUT if I disconnect the battery to reset the light it passes inspection without issue? When the light is on I can have it scanned at 5 different shops and get 5 different codes. If you only need to change the EGR value it's a fairly cheap and easy job.

    when u said u have exhaust gas shooting out
    .wonder if that could be the exhaust smell I get in the cab sometimes

    • @116falconer
      @116falconer  7 лет назад +1

      +Bobby Munoz if the adapter was bad you'd know it. When the soft plug goes it's louder than hell and you'll have exhaust shooting straight towards your plastic master cylinder. In my experience, if you're getting intermittent exhaust in the cab it's more than likely coming from near the rear of the exhaust. Tailpipes are usually to blame, if they aren't shooting the exhaust past the rear bumper then the gasses get sucked back up, usually thru the trunk.

      116falconer hello I have the same problem of exhaust odor I thought it was coming inside but I noticed that only the smell comes in when I open the windows I don't know if it's a problem with the EGR because a mechanic told me that the turbo gas burner was not working well but he didn't tell me where that piece was not what it was called

  • @pw5192
    @pw5192 8 лет назад

    would have thought unclamping the rad hose would cause all the coolant to rush out, if i can get away with not letting all the coolant out to aid me loosening the temp housing that would be a bonus.

    • @116falconer
      @116falconer  8 лет назад

      I think if you were to leave the cap on the radiator reservoir and just remove the sensor your coolant loss would be minimum. I don't think I even used a quart to get mine topped off.

  • @Ali-uv3dz

    why you did replaced the egr did you have any problem with the power or any think ?

    • @116falconer
      @116falconer  8 лет назад

      The brass plug on the egr blew out, which caused the exhaust to blow on the brake master cylinder. Prior to the blowout the car was lacking power, it's better now and the check engine light is off.

  • @babisfoititis
    @babisfoititis 6 лет назад

    did you also have problems with the secondary air injector pump before replacing the egr??

    • @116falconer
      @116falconer  6 лет назад

      +Χαράλαμπος Καναλουπίτης the pump seemed to be operating fine but the egr base was clearly blown. I don’t have the 02 Jetta anymore, instead I have a low mileage 13 Jetta that’s also burning through parts.

    • @tylerbeard4092
      @tylerbeard4092 6 лет назад

      Χαράλαμπος Καναλουπίτης This valve is the first to fail, causing the SAI pump to fail. This leads to problems with O2 sensors, problems with Catalytic converter, as well as misfires.
      On the 1.8t engine, the SAI pump is also of poor design. You can remove the bolts (rivets?) on the housing and replace them with your own as preventative maintenance, but once you can feel air blowing outside of the pump while it is running, it is recommended to replace the SAI pump.
      Best preventative maintenance for this issue in a problem-free 1.8t is a check/replacement of the"Combi valve"

    did you drain all the coolant so you could loosen off the temp sensor housing?

    • @116falconer

      No. I just slid a catch pan under the engine and then removed the radiator hose.
