I’ve always loved how many foxgloves and ferns grow naturally here. I’m going to try to film some more of the yard this week to show more. My camera was less than 2 feet away from the owl at one point! I was so excited.
@@allegrarosebrown238 My Grandma collected little owl figurines for most of my life and she gave many of them to me before she passed--I've always loved them! Last night, just around dusk, a tiny barn (?) owl landed on a branch right beside my window and spent a few minutes twisting his little head around and giving me a good look-over. I know she's just a little animal out for her nightly hunt, but I felt like my Grandma visited me, and it just made me so happy! Blessings to you!
@@micparker2235 That’s awesome! Owls really can make you feel like they know something. I feel very connected to the owls around here. It is nice you have that connection with your grandma.
This owl looked so distinct up close. We have different owls in Australia with one being a Tawny Frogmouth, which is not an owl. There are a few in our area and I live in a suburban city. They catch their prey with their beaks rather than their talons.
The younger owls let me get right up to them before they get wise and keep their distance, but tween the adult Barred owls are cool about letting me get pretty close up.
I know this is long after the fact, but this video really disturbs me. How and why would you get so close to an owl? A wild bird would not let you get that close, so what is going on here? And by following it and getting in its face when it caught the rat, you risked causing it to lose its prey, and probably prolonged the rat's suffering by distracting the owl from finishing the kill. The owl was looking at you instead of paying attention to the rat.
With the Ferns and foxglove your place looks like a fairyland. So cool that you got so close to that owl.🦉🦄🧚♀️🧚🌲

Circle of life 😁 It's so cool the owl let you get that close!
I was so surprised it let me get that close
Owls are such beautiful animals--I can't believe how close he let you get!
Yes I was pretty surprised. My camera was less than 2 feet from it. I love owls!

That is truly amazing! What an awesome experience!
My heart was pounding a little after that! I was so surprised I was able to get as close as I did.

I guess the owl didn't want to share the rat with you...

Mutual curiosity. This is my 2nd comment. I think the first disappeared because I referenced de a-d. r .a_ts and le a de rs being of equal value.
I can agree to a point….I value the rats more : )
