This was very helpful especially starting on a fresh install and having this upload location already available. Thank you.

But this does not solve the problem with downloading large files, because Proxmox first puts the file into /var/tmp and only then moves it to the final storage.

Do you realize that sharing an nfs share from your NAS can accomplish the same task? Additionally you can resize it in the future. The only downside is the speed limit of your network. Not a big one.

Pubdigitalix, good insights here. I plan on playing around more with NFS and Promox coming up soon.

Does this also work with established shares of isos? I was able to do this both with smb and nfs to my unraid share that houses all my iso files (in theor respective sub folders) but when I go to proxmox it sees and connects to the shares, but doesn't show ANY of the files/folders in said share. And none are available in the vm creation options either.

silly that you have to dedicate a whole new disk for ISOs, whats wrong with allowing an iso folder on an existing disk

@roryniland I agree, this is one aspect of Proxmox I don't like.

@@VirtualizationHowto This is what I came here for. I have a 2TB SSD and I would like to carve out about 100GB of space for ISO files. I guess I need to add another physical drive to my host for that. Kind of strange.

ISO image is still not visible, anyone know how to do that, when I go into the drop down, no images to select? Hmm seems you can only see ISO's in VM's not containers.

This is infuriating. ESXI does this so much better. They have to make it so that I can use a LUN as ISO storage.

    /var/lib/pve/local-btrfs/template/iso
что-бы проверить файлы можно следующей командой
    du -h | sort -h
