There's so much about this contest and its history that most people don't understand. first off its an invitational .. you can not just sign up you have to be an invitee number 2. You get the notice of who's been invited and then there is a "wait" period. Once you've got the notice that its "ON" you get a 72hr notice that its "ON" ..so they have to make sure all invitees have the ability to be on call to show up with a 72hr notice. Before social media it was all by word of mouth. Who was invited and if it's on. It was all word of mouth. And then something happened and either social media or the movie Mavericks made it so now its a media run event and its lost a lot from that. Maybe its gained some. But, my feeling personally its lost more than its gained. But, with time we shall see. I also thought that the prize money is split between the finalists and the title itself is more what they are after than the money. Now of course this is all hear say and I really don't know that much and admit that I've not actually been to Maverick's nor have I surfed there. But, I do know some that have and have heard this as a 3rd party observer. And as far as women in the pack. If a woman is out surfing Mavericks and is in the "Big Wave" circuit then of course she has equal right to the title as a man does. But, to give her special invitation just cause she's a woman. No. She should have to earn it as the men do. And yes I am a woman. Raised in Santa Cruz married a surfer graduated Harbor High. Have known and am married to a surfer that are part of the "Big Wave" circuit and that is a different breed of surfer and if a woman can and does compete then she should be invited. I admit I didn't watch this entire very boring video so I maybe confused about the purpose. But, I do know women that are as competent to ride big waves and do .. and they should be equal and not be add just because they are a woman just to say we added a woman for status quo or we need a woman so we meet the coastal commissions regulation. Say next year or the following year there is no woman that is qualified do you have to include a woman just to meet the standard but maybe she's not qualified .. I don't see that happening but it could. And not sure I agree that a woman should be included just for the sake of including women. Personally when I think of women and men that surf Mavericks its a breed that stand out and for a woman to be in that class of big wave riders is a really big deal really I've only personally known 3 that I'd put in that class. But, its really hard for a woman to be in that class of surfers for so many reasons beyond that it would be hard to put it all in here. I remember during certain contests I went to and I'd be sitting on the beach observing taking pics or whatever and being asked to join the contest cause there was only one woman entered or they needed one more woman to make a heat. Not saying I ever entered for that reason but that I'd been approached to and gave it some thought. Then I envisioned it and said No that would not be a pretty site.. lol but, its happened and that's the kind of things Id worry about. Inviting a women just to invite a woman so they can have the contest but the women that was invited isn't competent. I'm pretty sure that level of competence is the reason the competition is invitational. But, that would give the organizers reason to find and help women to achieve the level of competence to compete at a level that would be capable of winning. But, still in the back of my mind I don't see a women winning in a pool where she's competing against men. But, I've been told not true women are just as capable and competent as men and don't need a special women's class division. They compete with men at the same level as men against men. But, of course my main thing and problem with Mavericks is there is too many and its become too publicized and that I'm not completely for the Mavericks competition at all since its become so commercial I prefer they don't hold it at all or go back the days it was all word of mouth. So basically if I had my way they wouldn't hold the competition at all. But, don't tell anyone I said that lol I think that it should go to the locals and I'm not local to that area. That's part of my problem with the Mavericks competition is how much of it is put on by the local community and how much of it is put on by the "Titans" and ya that was intended to sound facetious as I've known most of them before they were mountains or titans and it really makes me laugh. But, its a prideful laugh. As I can say I knew them when they were still picking buggers out of they're ears and so I do laugh some. But, ya. Anyway. Let the locals decided the outcome and the criteria its they're wave not ours. We're all just intruders. They live there. So they know and should have say about what happens there.

I want to make a music video for Lana del Reys Song "13 Beaches". Is it okay for you if I would use some of your vintage footage? If I will upload the video I will write in the description that I get this footage from your youtube channel.
