I don't agree with Red Bull. Telling an employee what they can and cannot do in their private time is against the law in most countries. It's not like he is up all-night drinking and most human are fine with 6 hours of sleep. The team has had an issue setting up the car since Newey left and instead of owning up, they blame it on the driver. This is just going to add more tension.
Red bull pays max millions and millions every single year...I'd say they can tell him that he can't stay up all night before a race. He's acting like a 12 year old...he should expect to be treated like one.

How does his teammate figure in this? Max is an awesome driver, probably one of the best there has ever been, but he is an arrogant spoilt little child who throws his dummy out when he doesn't get his own way. He was Max 1.0, he morphed into Max 2.0, but now he's under pressure again Max 1.0 is back
Max himself say he will continue to race in sims. "We talked about it," Verstappen said. "There is no other sim race coming up anyway, so no one needs to worry about that. "So no, it's not that I have a ban or whatever. I also don't need to tell them what they do in their private time and during the weekends, and that's the same to me.
I don't think sim racing has anything to do with. Max is accustomed to easily winning every race and now that he's not his frustration has boiled over.
I don’t really see how they’re going to enforce this. Are they going to have someone follow Max at all times and tell him when it’s time to go to bed? 🤣
When you have a 10s of millions dollar contract you have to fill it at your absolute best.. last weekend was just and absolute shitty attitude that could have been turned down a notch.. he needs to be at least respectful toward the team, just cause he got a shitty sleep doesn't give him the excuse to dice bomb where he shouldn't have then swear and freak out at the team... maybe get 8 hours sleep before you have a high level job to do and relax on a damn video game lol

One small correction in some of the verbiage used here. The captions said Max, "...had a very loose reign at Red Bull". Understanding that the word 'reign' means to govern, that is the wrong word to use. The caption should've read, "...had a very loose rein at Red Bull", as a 'rein' or 'reins' are straps used to control the movements of pack or ridden animals like horses. Therefore, 'rein' is the correct word to use as Red Bull controls the drivers and Max was controlled less as he was winning and behaving. Now that he's gone back to his petulant, and moody behavior, Red Bull is likely to 'rein' him in.

I feel banning Max from Sim racing is a mistake that will only lead to more animosity. Only Max knows his limitations with regards to his rest and what needs to be done. I can see RBs stance on Max here, it's low hanging fruit to put a stop to the sim racing and say that's a contributing factor to poor performances, but it's a drop in the bucket compared to their other issues. I think this is a nothing burger in the grand scheme of things. Newey is gone. Checo is getting free money to cross the line in the back. Team is not on the same page. Newy's absense was noted at the beggining of the seasson, not from part perfomance, but from the car's adjust for each race... Newey always had a hand in checking the configuration and adjustements of RB cars... now is even more of an issue, because the new parts are not perfoming or achieving the objectives the team wants... it's eviden newey was not a part in dessigning the RB20 and al work related to it before and on seasson

Question: Last year Red Bull was untouchable by a huge margin. Why do they make some many changes which is not working? Wouldn't they just stick with the setup from 2023 overall? Thx Friends!
Because F1 is a development race as much as a motor race. If you use last year's car, you'll be a second slower than your competitors when they improve.

Like anybody, Max can do what he wants in his own time and it is up to Max to balance his personal life against his professional life just like all of us. We all need downtime and I can't imagine how much he would get considering who he is. However considering what his job is and the amount of money he is getting paid, then mabye RB have some right to say maybe not on a Saturday night before a race? I think Max has already stated that the season is too long and its taking time away from the work/lifestyle balance for all concerned, not just the drivers, but the whole team either at the track or at the factory. I think he is right. 18 rounds a year souns a good balance to me, but I guess Liberty want big bang for their buck and they just want more races. Maybe Max will retire and that would be a shame and go and race in a series with only 16 rounds a year. Does he need F1?
Both needs to be a bit more professional! Sim racing or any kind of activity a night before the race is a bit sily imo. But the team also needs to start performing! They’re relying on him far too much and I believe they have a lot of other, bigger problems they need to solve before Max’s sim racing imo
If he likes sim racing to relax, and has been doing it for years without a problem while not only competing in high stress environment, but dominating it... Its a cowardly move by RedBull to point to it on the first sign of trouble. Cowardly and childish. To quote the man himself, "fix your damn car." Start whining like little ***** and saying on the media that its because of his hobbies (even if it were true) is bad leadership and bad team energy.
You think he's frustrated now? You're prohibiting from sim-racing which is his stress reliever, now where do you think he's gonna take it out on? We're gonna see an even more brutal and frustrated Max in the team now. The friction in Red Bull only continues.
Haha, sure blame Max for the incredible bad form RB. The car was 2 tenth slower than last year... Go fix the car and strategy before saying anything to Max, who now will be at Mercedes in no time. Well done.
I've said exactly this across many YT vids and chat rooms since Hungary and I have been laughed at and ridiculed for saying such. Everyone knows if you have an "important" day ahead, you need rest beforehand in order to aproach said "important" day at your 100% best!
Max - "I use sim racing to unwind from real racing!"??? Is this guy for real? In order to correctly "unwind" you need to shift your focus to a DIFFERENT task "preferably" less mentally and/or physically demanding! REST IS BEST!
If I sim Race till 3am, I literally can't function for the next two days, let alone be good at sim racing at that time. I have no idea how he races an F1 car after racing that late
I like your videos very much, you are insightful and good researcher keep them coming! But please please stop using "Bombshell" in every other thumbnail this is just regular news a Bombshell was "Hamilton to Ferrari". This is just like a parent telling his kid go to bed.
It all makes news and free publicity for F1 and RedBull, maybe the rest of the divers and teams should get in the act too. If you can’t win every race start blaming the team, other drivers and teams, use bad language on the radio, let’s have a proper s..t fight over everything!,😢❤
Max just needs to keep his Cool, because F1 has been boring for a while so let's attack Max! Stupid really! RB should be supporting their Number 1 driver regardless! Checo has underperformed for ages yet No talk of that Since he got his extension with RB! Good luck Mad-Max 🏎
If you sleep at 3:30 and you wake up at 11:30 you have 8 hours of sleep they race at 15:00 if he comes in at 13:00 their is plenty of time for the race. His toxicity is genetically it’s also in his dad and the apple das not fall from the tree.
Unfortunately it doesn't work that way. Max would need to attend RB engineering meetings, RB race strategy meetings, RB promotional commitments on race day, FIA race director meeting and more. So Max just can't appear when he wants.
Just so we’re clear, it’s not the sim racing, it’s the lack of sleep. The lack of sleep impacts his ability to be focused. Combined with the physical demands of driving an F1 car, he’s already fatigued when the race starts and he ends up making mental mistakes, like the wonky dive-bomb pass he tried to make on Hamilton at turn 1 at Hungary. It was due to poor mental judgement and a lack of focus, both of which are classic symptoms of sleep deprivation. Babies get cranky and irritable when they get overtired and adults get the same way, but typically display a lack of focus and concentration, and frequently some degree of irritability too. Plus, sleep deprivation can build up over time and is likely exacerbated by the fact that he’s constantly changing time zones throughout the year. He can sim race all he wants, as long as he makes sure to get a minimum of 8 hours of sleep before the race.
Yeah they are only his employer who pay him millions every year and control 2 (or maybe 4) of only 20 spots in the sport. In F1 no one man is more important than the team. Drivers who believe that they are find themselves without a drive quite quickly! Happened to Prost at Ferrari and he had to take a year out in 92, Happened to Alonso at McLaren TWICE and he’s not been in a front running car since. Happened to Mansell and Prost and Hill at Williams! despite them winning the championship the previous season they were replaced by a preferred driver the next season! Red Bull were winning before Max arrived and they will win after Max leaves whenever that is. I kind of think that Max’s sim racing isn’t that big of a deal but if he’s then going to act like a petulant child on the radio it’s then low hanging fruit and an easy thing for his critics in the media and within the team to criticise. If he’d been a bit more professional in the car then there would be no reason to question his habits outside of the car.
In one of my prior jobs people came to me with problems. It wasn’t that I knew how things worked, I understood why. RB could have designers understand how the car works, but not really understand the why
Its allready old as red bull took back that they said they font want him to simrace...besides it was never a bann on simracing this is just creating sensation for nothing.
This is such a stupid argument. He has always done this. One bad race and they are slapping him on the wrist. Take the passion out of the driver, great idea. Toto might get his wish.
If you don’t want people to question your professionalism and your attitude maybe don’t give them a reason to question your professionalism and attitude! I personally don’t think Max’s sim racing is that big of a problem but when he acts like a petulant child on the radio it’s then an easy thing for people in the media and within Red Bull to criticise. If Max had been professional, kept his mouth shut and waited until the private debrief no one would be talking about his sim racing at all! All the focus would be on the team and how the upgrade didn’t work well enough.
Olympic athlete Usain Bolt used to famously eat thousands of chicken nuggets before events. Did he still win, yes, did Max still previously win staying up late at night, yes, BUT, true athletes want to get absolute peak performance and win faster, harder, stronger, and if eating healthy, which Bolt eventually began doing, or in the case of Max, getting more sleep, may potentially increase performance, then you do that because there are always people around you that are doing everything they can to beat you, and if you aren't at peak performance or there is more potential, you do what needs to be done to get there or else, people are going to say stuff like this....Max could have gotten more sleep. Don't give them anything to say, that you aren't trying hard enough.
Max and for that matter Lando both behaved like petulant children. Given the money they get paid, maybe they should behave in a more professional manner. They both showed a level of disrespect to their team and competition. if i was their parent i would be disappointed in their behaviour. but i must say i do like the fact that Max isn't winning every race.
Sim racing has nothing to do with his performance, it’s just the car. Max was used to having the best car and being the best. Now he’s realizing that there are other car/pilot combinations that are better than he currently is! Same happened to Lewis….but when the Mercedes performs so does he! The worst that can happen to Red Bull is Max leaving to join Mercedes!
It’s never so simple! Max is good but so are others, we just thought he was much better because he had a much better car. Now look at the gap between him and Perez he’s still much better but probably the car is not a match to McLaren!
@jimS, Max is under contract to R/B, and have much invested in him, therefore they have the right to tell him no more late night Sim playing, as for Max knowing his limitations, that’s not necessarily true, he has said he has a severe vision issue, yet he still puts his life on the line, as well as everyone else’s and then add the lack of sleep! That’s very irresponsible behavior! If he doesn’t want to play the game, he should move on!🙄👩🏻🦰💜
I believe the only thing that’s it’s different and happening is that he not longer has a superior car. He is back to his old driving style “Aggressive” I would call it more dirty driving. I liked to see MAX get penalized by FIA for his driving, who cares about his sim racing. After all the winning races the team has helped him win he treats them like S, childish and spoil little brat. I can’t wait to see him be beat again by LH, Norris, and the rest of his generation. The best drivers win with worst cars.
Imagine what Max would Do if he was robbed of the championship like Lewis Hamilton was a couple years ago. Even though this such an egregious Misconduct by everyone involved except for Hamilton who took it incredibly well considering it was daylight robbery but Max I think you would jump
Hmmm we have been told MV is the best driver in the world. Even a poorly perform car is not a problem, he can just cover the problems. Hmmm but he is not winning anymore. What happened? Not really the best driver I guess. 😂

Max is doing whatever he can to decompress from the hard weekend of f1 taking that away from him is crazy
5:40 No apostrophe in the plural of "driver" please. Get someone literate to do your captions!
Disgusting the way they are treating Max
So where is that 'bomb shell' ?!
It's all staged for some excitement. The championship has gone numb and boring. They just want to add some spices.
Got the bell on and yet no notification....... thanks a lot RUclips
Marko needs to go
But Di€k Helmut said max could win a race in a vcarb 🤪🤪🤪
Who believes that he doesn't take a rig with him and he just uses controller?
Apparently he has a rig in his plane. I have seen footage of him iRacing with an xbox controller on race weekends though so maybe it is true?
@@F1REVERSE if that's true and he can race in top split with a controller that's impressive as hell
If you value Sim Racing over the reality of Formula 1 then Crash Musthappen.... silly boy.
This is absolute Redbullshit!!
@@Jackster4505 And the timing of sleep is more important than just "putting in the hours". You have your body clock to accommodate.
Yea
Asif RB has ANY leverage on Max LMFAO
@@princeoftonga No need to write idiotic essays. RB is in NO position to critisize Max.
@@PanzerChicken69 yeah sorry got carried away.
@@princeoftonga Lol, that was funny, thanks 😆
How quickly things changed when Newey left, and how little that is discussed is shocking
I think Newey has taken away a couple of screws from the car which made it a perfectly balanced car as soon as he announced his decision to leave 😂😂
In one of my prior jobs people came to me with problems. It wasn’t that I knew how things worked, I understood why.
RB could have designers understand how the car works, but not really understand the why
Such BS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
Its allready old as red bull took back that they said they font want him to simrace...besides it was never a bann on simracing this is just creating sensation for nothing.
This is such a stupid argument. He has always done this. One bad race and they are slapping him on the wrist. Take the passion out of the driver, great idea. Toto might get his wish.
Late nights sim racing the night before an F1 GP? Simply unprofessional.
Or arrogant
Max is not the pronlem he's the only one doing his job as it should, get rid of Horner
Verstappin is far too arrogant.... he thinks the world revoles around him and now its not hes being a baby.... they need to drop him as a driver
I thought max was the best driver in the world, shouldn't he be able push that tractor to first place without taking others out?
It’s never so simple! Max is good but so are others, we just thought he was much better because he had a much better car. Now look at the gap between him and Perez he’s still much better but probably the car is not a match to McLaren!
@jimS, Max is under contract to R/B, and have much invested in him, therefore they have the right to tell him no more late night Sim playing, as for Max knowing his limitations, that’s not necessarily true, he has said he has a severe vision issue, yet he still puts his life on the line, as well as everyone else’s
and then add the lack of sleep! That’s very irresponsible behavior! If he doesn’t want to play the game, he should move on!🙄👩🏻🦰💜
Video games? Really? Why dont you all grow up. A grown man getting paid millions and he has to be told to go to bed. You cant write this stuff.
Real drivers never needed sims to win 4-7 championships.
Max can pole and win ini a Haas right??!!! Let's see it come on!!! It's not the car right???!!! 🤪
Hmmm we have been told MV is the best driver in the world. Even a poorly perform car is not a problem, he can just cover the problems. Hmmm but he is not winning anymore. What happened? Not really the best driver I guess. 😂
Still tell that to Perez, why are they so far apart.......
Hello! Bruv needs to get some sleep. At least this is a more interesting season I think
New flash, max is a petulant dude who’s a brilliant driver, unfortunately he’s also a pain in the arse.. nothing ever is or will be his fault. RB should bring back Ricci, and maybe sterling moss lol😂😂😂😂😂😂
