My favourite number is 360 because it describes the number of degrees in a circle, and has a huge number of factors, making it very easy to divide a circle into equal parts.
It would be a great series for objects/books to be chosen from those shelves and for the Prof to tell us the significance of each. I'll bet each item has great significance.

Professor, I believe you ARE extraordinary. You've done a great deal to inspire and educate people all around the world, and your work has probably had a greater positive impact than any one winner of Nobel Prizes.
Regarding the question, what experiments should high school students do - as the parent of a child attending a comp school, I'd be happy if they did *any*. We do more at home. The chemistry teacher, in particular, teaches the test. Every lesson the kids sit with the exam in front of them until they've memorised the answers. This is what the leagues table and privatised education has done.
Thoroughly enjoying these videos despite having little to no chemistry knowledge but a whole lot of curiousity and a massive amount of respect for the Prof.

As a young man I weighed chemistry vs an electrical eng. degree. Moore's law drove costs down to provide income for research. I visited Gulf Oil research as a 16 yr old. Blowing glass to make instruments for petro chemical research. That art that craftsmanship that pride in doing something few humans knew about blew my mind. Science advancement comes from unestablished norms. I went EE. This Expert makes me wish sometimes I stayed in chemistry. No regrets. Change keeps us young. Thanx.

As an undergraduate chemistry major who is graduating in a few weeks, I'm still scared of lab. Scared me straight into doing computational chemistry research, just submitted my thesis yay.
What a man....its kind of reassuring to listen to the words of an old-school gentleman who's gets so enthusiastic about his subject. And who could not love chem after an hour in the company of the Professors wonderful, if a little alarming, hair-do?!
My 2 boys (lap dogs) watch the telly with me and whenever I watch you they stand up and wag there tails like when I give them a treat! I think you are their favorite!
Those were some brilliant questions! Also, brilliant, and honest answers. I could go on about the parallels of my young life as a preteen and teenage chemist, but I won't. That said, I once ran my family out of the house with a miscalculated experiment involving Ammonium hydroxide, which led my father to build me a little 10' X 10' building in our backyard, where I "accidentally" made nitroglycerin, and then didn't know what to do with it. I still have the scars from that one... This is one of the best videos you guys have posted. Salute!!
