    Thanks so much for making this video. With your help I was able to do the displays on both my machines. I have newfound respect for the skills and dexterity of the workers who put these little machines together - those buttons and screening foils are b*st*rd fiddly to keep in the right places. Thanks again!

      oh man - so glad to hear it helped! Sir68k did some amazing work to create them, and I'm glad to contribute in any way. And yes, I hear you - these things were made 20 years ago and are still amazingly complicated little devices with precision mechanisms. I love them!

    Nice job man! This video will help for lots of RH1 owners that have faded out original oled displays. Cheers!

    I've always wanted an MD player/recorder and MZ-RH1 is one of the coolest.

    Thanks for the video TI, I would love to have one of these MZ-RH1s. I often feel like I am betraying the MD community not having one of these. Cheers.

      Thank you! I hope you're enjoying your MZ-N1! I never would have bought one if I hadn't heard that Sir68k was working on displays... before they became a reality I bought one "cheap" and it sat in a drawer for 6 months

      I dont have and plan to get the RH1. Bought another RH10, mine died and I just love that one. A new screen for that...oh. would be a dream.

    Huge difference to the old version. Tiny little comment... using the old tape is maybe the easy way but I prefere a new strip of double sided tape. Now we only need the RH10 displays ;)

    • @TechnicalInitiative
      @TechnicalInitiative  Месяц назад +2

      I didn't have any thin tape but I would have tried that, too! And yes, I'm eagerly awaiting the RH10 display project... I have a nice orange one waiting for a new screen =)

      @@TechnicalInitiative Do you have any video on how to disassemble a RH10? I bought one but I'm not able to open it. not sure if the mechanism is broken. Do you know how to open it? (waiting also for the screens for this one)

      Good luck! If you can snag one relatively cheap because of the dead displays, then at least you know there's a way to replace them now!

    Does the display panel have registration pins to line it up?

    • @TechnicalInitiative
      @TechnicalInitiative  Месяц назад +1

      It's connected to the main board via a flat ribbon cable and in case you damage it, the kit comes with a replacement. As for the fit of the panels, they fit perfectly without having to worry about lining them up. They take up the entire space that is reserved for the original OLEDs

    CDs are more secure than memory chips. You can't use radio reflectivity to read the data.

    I was wondering what this Thing Iis and my dad used that Discs for recording in a Rack Type Recorder. So i searched mz-rh1 in used Market and wow this still costs used 250€ to 500€
    Well it seems to be a great device.
    Edited Autocorrection errors =P

    • @TechnicalInitiative
      @TechnicalInitiative  Месяц назад +1

      Thanks! Yes, they seem to have crept up in price now that there are display replacements, but a keen eye may snag you one cheaply since people can't test without a charger, battery, and working display. I got one recently with bad displays for around $150 USD then swapped the display.
