Did Athena truly love him? It’s a simple question for Lahabrea, but a haunting one that will always linger.

All she cared about is attaining godhood
If she was willing to sacrifice her son without a second thought, then its a safe assumption that lahabrea meant the same to her:Just a tool to be used much like the creations inside pandaemonium

A few potentially useful parallels to other FF games in this story.
The first time the name “Pandemonium” was used in the franchise was in FFII. It was the final dungeon; a palace built in Hell, where the dead-and-risen Emperor of Paramecia launched his final invasion of the world. The emperor is given no name in the game, but a dubiously-canon novelization gives him the name “Mateus”, which has been referenced in other games in the series.
One game that referenced Mateus was FFXII; Mateus the Corrupt was one of the Espers/Totema/Lucavi/Scions of Darkness that can be summoned in the Ivalice games. Lore entries for almost every Esper names (but doesn’t depict) a Scion of Light in opposition to them. Matched to Mateus is Lahabrea the Abyssal Celebrant; this is the first use of the name Lahabrea in the franchise.
So, there is a thematic connection for why we have Lahabrea as the master of Pandæmonium; Hephaistos nicely parallels the Hell Emperor who was the final boss of FFII.
Remakes of FFII added another story, though. Soul of Rebirth is a side story that follows four heroes who die in the course of FFII’s story, exploring what they think is Hell and its palace of Pandemonium. At the end, though, they find a serene-looking figure who tells them they’re in Arubboth; a palace built in Heaven. This is also the Emperor. When he died, his soul was split in two; all his vices, he says, descended to Hell and became the Hell Emperor, while his light half took control of this palace in Heaven. The party rejects his offers, and sees him as just as power hungry as he was in life, before fighting him.
This kinda makes Hephaistos even more fitting of the parallel; he is also part of Lahabrea’s soul that was torn from him.
We could be stepping into something entirely different than what we think when we take this final journey into Pandæmonium. It could be Arubboth, and someone else entirely could be at its head.

This parallel is why I think Ultima would be useful in getting rid of Pandæmonium from the Lifestream.

      @@acgearsandarms1343 oh-ho!
Yes, Ultima was first introduced to the Franchise in FFII; a major part of the main quest is seeking it out.
Plus, Ultima and the Heart of Sabik that held the spell were introduced to FFXIV by Lahabrea. How fitting it would be for that same devastation to clear away the last remnants of Lahabrea and/or Athena from the world. I could totally see us trying to track down the Heart of Sabik for the final confrontation.

If I had to guess the blank crystal is the Hephaestus convocation crystal. Lahabria wasn't able to destroy Hephaestus and sealed him within his convocation crystal as we know. Lahabria after the sundering became more unhinged due to his "mad leaps forward" in order to fulfill his duty to the star. The only person who knows Hephaestus is in the crystal aside from Lahabria was Elidibus who was gone and became the heart of Zodiark who forget all his memories. With all that said I believe when Thordan beat Lahabria his aether was absorbed into his blade which sits in Aza la. The crystal is alive holding Hephaestus, perhaps it was destroyed during the battle with Thordan and thus ended up in the aetherial sea which eventually falls into the warrior of lights hands leading them to Pandaemonium due to the fractured memories of Hephaestus spilling out. The crystal is studied by Claudian who can hear its whispers the voice of Hephaestus probably because Claudian might be a sundered shard of Erichthonios. Claudian then takes the stone to Aza la so Hephaestus can merge with Lahabria who is sealed in the sword of Thordan, with his soul complete he then takes over Claudian's body and a corrupted Lahabria hell bent on reviving Athena is reborn. Using his power he pulls Pandaemonium from the aetherial sea to finish what was started so long ago.
Again this is just a guess and I make some very large assumptions but it does seem fairly probable. Either way, we will find out in a week, till then happy theory crafting.

Dang do you think hephestos being trapped in the laha crystal could be the reason lahabrea went crazy in arr and heavensward

    • @aeonise
      @aeonise Год назад +4

Having a big chunk of his emotions, mind, and aether ripped out probably didn't help his stability through the millennia. It likely also made him more impacted by Zodiark's tempering than the others.
It does raise the question of whether that crystal is the same one his normal memories were placed in. However, this confuses me. The crystals were made by the Convocation just before summoning Zodiark (recall they refused to make one for Azem because he rejected the Zodiark plan), so why does Lahabrea have his already? Did he actually destroy this one? Does he end up with 2 crystals? So many questions...
Also, some delicious irony that the supposedly-Unsundered Lahabrea was in fact Sundered before the Sundering.
