Eliminating backlash in bevel gear drives

  • The black spring forces the blue bevel gear towards the blue bevel gear to take up backlash.
    Here, not only the tooth backlash but also the axial backlash of the two gear shafts are eliminated.

    The spring would have to be stronger than the thrust force, correct?
