The best thing about this monitor is it set the price for the future OLED monitors to follow and promote ultrawide aspect.
Ha..... You must not own an Asus. They will add something too it to drive up the price.
@@5ean5ean22 i'm truly scared of that happening
@@5ean5ean22 and AOC will find a way to remove something and make the same quality panel accessible. Lots of good competition in the monitor space
I ordered one nearly a month ago, and dell says it wont be able to get here till late July, i would love to actually use a monitor i spent $1500 on, thanks dell :|
That's messed up bro.
Same here, ordered on launch day and expected July 27th.
"Affordable"
I have two months on hold, and I do believe you won’t be receiving it in June do to lock downs in China causing “logistical” issues for dell. Just an FYI
@@DjGalvanic meh ordered mine on marth 10th and i got mine already. they had a huge batch shipped to the US and seems people are getting them fairly quick
Thank you for the all the support while I’m building my first pc❤️ it has helped a lot ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Is your new pc cooled by the blood of sinners Lucifer?
@@RUFU58lol bro
Nothing I love more than buying a new piece of hardware and then watching more reviews that justify my purchase (I have the second gen "f" version)
Same!! I have had mine for a year and I’m still watching reviews lol
I finally unboxed mine today. It is pretty dang glorious! I was using the Gigabyte G34WQC (144hz 1440p VA panel, good for its price imo) & definitely expected the Alienware to be better, but didn't realize just how much of a difference it would truly make. Proper HDR can be simply stunning. Quite happy so far - hopefully the panel holds up over time.
How long did yours take to arrive versus the estimated date Dell gave you?
@@glnobear Delivery was originally scheduled for May 28, but I actually received it on May 11.
@@ThrasherEscapes I am running a 1440p ips asus gaming monitor with no HDR 165hz... how much better is the quality of the picture compared to this or a samsung neo G9 with a va ? my monitor started to have issues so I may have to buy a new one etc it's still fine with no issues at 120hz but can't go to 165hz anymore so I may wait to christmas and buy a gpu and a monitor... new samsung is coming out soon too and it's a samsung panel in that alienware
@@cloudstrife7083 It's a pretty huge upgrade imo, especially compared to the motion clarity of a VA panel. The difference in motion clarity between OLED & IPS is likely just a bit less dramatic, but the OLED is still going to look superior (to me, anyway). HDR on the aw3423dw really helps in darker content too - for instance, in cyberpunk, the low-light & shadow-heavy alleyways still had a ton of detail instead of it being crushed out a bit by the shadows like it did on my VA panel. I think if you can afford it, it would likely be something you'd be reasonably happy having. It really is very nice.
@@ThrasherEscapes yes but I am a big esports gamers too so thinking about buying a 360hz ips monitors too oh man it's hard to choose because I want a do it all with the best picture monitor too like this alienware... I love to have a big monitor too to watch movies how are they on that screen ? been told the response time was fantastic cause oled are faster than lcd/va do you see the difference even at just 175hz ?
I have one of the first 3440x1440 monitors ever built (LG) I got on massdrop many, many years ago. It's still going strong, but it's old tech. Looks like this type of monitor is my next step up.
I love OLED displays and I glad they're finally making they're way into the PC space with smaller panels. I was tired of the only OLED panels either being for large TV or smartphones. Hopefully more come out soon with varying aspect ratios like 16:9, 16:10, 3:2, and more. Plus having cheaper options and more expensive ones would also be nice
Exactly it’s because the TV market is more popular then monitors
@@petersmulders8058 I think it has more to do with the potential for burn in and the companies making the panels than it was TVs being more popular. Monitors typically have more static elements on them since people tend to leave things like menu bars static on their screen for extended amounts of time. This made the potential for burn in much higher especially since earlier versions of OLED were far more susceptible to burn in especially with higher brightness and brighter colors. Today it's not as likely due to many advancements in OLED technology
@@petersmulders8058 think its bc of how they cut the oled displays
I thought a TV would be too big for use as a monitor too, but then I got an LG C1 55'' and I don't think I could ever go back to a small screen. The thought I was using a 15-27'' computer screens my entire life seems so depressing now...
So I'm actually kind of glad the Alienware OLED came out after I got my screen, otherwise I probably would have got it and be missing out on the awesomeness that is large screen PC.
@@MistyKathrine
really is it that worth it ?
And do you feel that it's too big or too close?
Experiencing an OLED for the first time is truly awesome. Been using a LG OLED tv for some years now, and cannot wait to get my hands on an OLED monitor for my pc.
Hey man, received mine about a week ago. The coating on the panel is very soft and prone to scratches. Mine, as well as many others, have a bunch of micro scratches all over the monitor, that don't buff out.
I reached out to Dell and am receiving a replacement, scheduled in the middle of July. On Reddit, it's speculated that these scratches are caused by the packaging during shipment, and can't be avoided unless the coating is changed or packaging is.
My monitor was shipped from Kentucky, which is where a Dell returns center is. Which means that someone returned this monitor (likely due to the defects) and Dell shipped it to me to fulfill their orders.
If you would like, I can send you pictures of my monitor. This really needs to be addressed by a RUclips channel that has a voice. Nobody is mentioning/noticing it and it's a huge flaw.
Keeping the monitor for several years means you will probably rub the coating off each time you clean it. Which absolutely sucks for the price. Let me know if you would like some pictures and links to the reddit post.
Hey I’m sure you know but that person who responded is a bot. But to your original comment- man that is so messed up. Smh seems companies jsut keep getting scummier and scummier
@@mannyfresh7065 Yeah, Dell has offered me a replacement (when they're finally caught up) and will allow me to keep this monitor until I receive the replacement. That's honestly the most I expect, for now.
I would like for them to wait until they apply a better coating so I don't have the issue after cleaning it, lol.
@@SethKnows I finally unboxed mine today after receiving it a week ago, also from Kentucky. Fortunately, there don't seem to be any noticeable scratches on mine - but I'll definitely know to pay particularly close attention to that due to this comment, so thanks for the heads up!
@@ThrasherEscapes Nice! They're shipping me a new one, hopefully it is perfect
I am the creator of a couple of those threads on Reddit, and yeah this is a problem. Did they make you take pics next to the service tag # on the back of the monitor?
I've been using one for about 2 weeks, it's a truly incredible monitor.
I ordered mine on launch and it was expected in June , but now is arriving this Sunday! So there is hope for y’all waiting 🙏🏻
i just ordered my as well! won't be in till august though
Same mine won’t arrive till mid september
I just got mine two weeks ago and it’s simply the best gaming monitor I’ve ever owned. Well worth the looooong wait. I’ve had my Acer X35 Predator for 2 1/2 years and it’s been great. But it simply can’t compete with QD OLED.
How long did you have to wait? I'm seeing the current estimate is August 6th which is the only thing stopping me from buying one.
@@EndoBaggins same boat I might just get a lg c2 for gaming
@@JustxLiving909 I said screw it and ordered it. Aug 9th estimate. Hope it's way sooner!!!
Can you do a side by side comparison with the aw3821dw to give us the difference in dimensions and just general viewing differences? 🙂
when u have problems with a glossy display avoid the aw3423dw and take the aw3821dw with satin display
I like the hair. Says “I had a headset on…”
The alienware twins are the only QD-OLEDs available in Australia, I really hope we get the G8 and MSI 342C here soon, create some competition, and drive down the price.
Grabbed this on the early black friday sale, so far not disappointed - coming from an ASUS VG27AQ.
How much did you get it for? I'm after a monitor for xmas
Hopefully this OLED panel is as good on the "burn in" front as the Switch OLED Model, then I don't think there's any reason to worry. Wulff Den did a burn in test and it took about 3600 hours of consistently displaying a static highly contrasting image at full brightness to cause some noticeable burn in.
Was guy on reddit with burn in.
He use monitor for work with same thing on screen for 8 hours a day 6 days aweek for 3 months.
He had top left litte burn in.
I must have got a faulty one then. Had mine 14 month and its getting replaced tomorrow with warranty due to burn in. Its the edges that look different probably from watching vids in standard aspect ratio.
@@The_Mad_King_Aerys bummer that happened, but glad to hear the warranty covers it!
I got this monitor and a 65' QD OLED UHD 144hz Freesync TV to complement my new AMD PC build(7900xtx and 7800X3D). I can game on either depending on my mood and both are GORGEOUS.😁😁
QD-OLED sub-pixels can produce the same amount of light as WOLED for 33% of the power. So 3x lower risk of burn-in.
Which good monitors have woled?
You have cured my Boredom
That's why I'm here!
Thanks for the fan update Centric! Information the people trust!
I have for almost 4 years, the AW3418DW version, a nice screen, of course today it would appear as technologically outdated (no HDR, 120Hz...). Of course I find this new model perfect (175Hz is more than enough for me) because the QD Oled slab is the closest thing to a real OLED, which is for me perfect
I also have the 18dw and I ordered this qd oled as well even though I have 77 lg c1 multiplayer games I prefer on monitor I believe it will be amazing.
Got the same monitor, served me well but IPS glow is mega peripherally and black level is grey. Really bad in dark game scenes or dark content.
Only recently found your channel but really enjoying your reviews and the way you come across
Hey mate, i was wondering. How deep is your desk? Would you recommend this monitor for someone using a 80 cm deep desk? Much love!
192 x 80cm
mine is 75cm and works fine..but not on 60cm deep
my overall first week experience with this monitor is as follows :
1. if the game supports windows auto-HDR feature, a small confirmation pop-up notification appear on the lower right corner of the screen and when it does, your game would shine with colors and perfect HDR experience. if the pop-up notification doesn't appear, you would have a basic and not professional level HDR experience. I played Ori & the Will of the Wisps and Hades and with windows auto-HDR support, it really is an enjoyable experience, particularly with 2 to 5 percent window 1000 nits brightness that this monitor supports, small specular highlights really shine magnificently.
2. the monitor has slight flickering and brightness-shifting issue in the loading screen of the monitor.
3. with HDR turned-on, video-recording of your gameplay would be messed up badly. so if you plan to record your gameplay, the only option is to turn-off windows HDR and play your game in SDR instead, which is really sad. this is also applicable when working with video-editing software like Adobe Premiere.
Overall, I am satisfied with this monitor, its wide-screen form factor and satisfying-level of curvature. if your main intention is to play video games with this monitor, it is absolutely a very good choice to buy it but if you plan to record your HDR gameplay with geforce experience feature, your recording would be a mess.
if anyone have found a way to record their HDR gameplay without pircture getting messed-up, please share it with me. thanks.
Auto HDR isn't a monitor feature. It's implemented by windows. If the popup doesn't appear there are 3 reasons: The game has a native HDR setting, the game doesn't support HDR, or microsoft hasn't created an auto-HDR profile for the game. If you use Auto HDR on a game with native HDR support you will be getting a downgraded experience. The in game implementation is always better.
Do I have to decide if I want to use auto hdr or native hdr? Or will the game decide wich will be on? Thanks
@@karniskavva If the game has it as an option, you would use the non auto setting. If it doesn't, but it listed on the PC gaming wiki as a game that is compatible with auto HDR, meaning there is a profile for the game you would use the auto HDR setting. If the game does not support HDR at all, you would disable HDR potentially, you would gain nothing from using auto HDR on something that doesn't have support for HDR in any way, but you might have problems with the way it shows black as grey for example.
Just need a 38 inch version of this.
Strongly considering this panel for my new rig with a RTX 4090
Ordered mine a few weeks ago. Have to wait until September. This is the over twice as much as I've ever spent on a TV or monitor so I hope it blows m eaway
Finally bought one... i am waiting for this technology for my pc since i have first heard about oled around back in 2002... I feel old.
I hope they make one for 27" . Been waiting for an OLED panel for gaming monitor for a long while.
omg same, I have the Qled G7 27" the moment a oled 1000HDR monitor drops... bro.... I'm plunging in
Well
Can you a best pre built pcs vid. I would love to see it!!!
Went from a 34 inch LG (Fanastic monitor) to this (but the DWF model with Freesync) along with my new PC. 4k gaming is a treat - it took me a while to get used to the wider experience. But man oh man does it deliver. Try it in person so u can get a feel for this. If u go very close u can see slight pixelation in e.g. word documents or in web browsing. Nothing you will notice daily, especially atter the BIOS update (be sure to do that also for HDR support - which is wonderful).
Coming up to a 1 year update. Any plans on this?
been watching a lot of your videos lately and they are all amazing and have helped me a lot with decided exactly what to get for my pc and what to expect! thank you so much
I ordered mine April 25th and just got it today July 2nd🙌
You mention the fan noise, but not the color fringing caused by the sub-pixel layout?
I own the monitor, and color fringing is by far its biggest negative.
Had it 14 months. It's amazing but it's getting replaced with warranty tomorrow due to burn in. Its the edges of the ultrawide that look different.
i love it .. i would not worry about burn in with a 3 year warranty
Are they finally going to come out with a monitor. That you do Photo Editing, Video Editing, Yet play games on the side as well as watch a show. It seems like we should be at that point by now.
I never ever saw a channel as colorful as yours (talking about the All Videos tab)
Thanks for the great review. Really appreciate the work you do... My Monitor is arriving Tuesday and I cannot wait... the one thing I do hate about reviews (not you in particular) is that they never seem to give the full list of settings being used and this is where I stumble when setting these things up. Could you recommend any of the below settings
Colour pre-set in the monitor OSD?
HDR mode (assuming HDR1000 by your review)
Nvidia colour settings in the nvidia control panel? did you leave them as default or choose the output depth etc manually, if so to what?
Did you use the ICC profile from dell or windows default?
Did you apply any digital vibrance
What color and contrast settings did you use in the Monitor OSD
Thanks in advance
I’d wait for Samsungs version of this coming out in a bit. Apparently the thinnest monitor, and perhaps similar or lower price. Then again I lack patience
I'll keep my G7
@@denydeny320 did i ask?
Did it come out yet?
@@curtp6445 nope. they're taking their sweet time
I ordered this in April and it's not going to be delivered until end of August, which is extremely disappointing. It also means I'm now going to get charged interest on my credit card because Dell refuse to charge until it's shipped - sadly I have no other means to purchase it :(
Frustratingly they continue to list this as in stock when there's a huge backlog and I don't think it's morally right to continue selling a product when its clearly not in stock and the demand outweighs the supply.
They clearly state the estimated delivery time, also why would you buy this monitor on credit if you can't afford to pay it off at the end of the month?
I ordered mine yesterday and it got shipped today. Strange world
I ordered one yesterday eventhough it's out of stock i got an estimation for delivery in September lol hope it won't be that long... can't wait to test it
I'm with lg 38gn950.. and the extra pixels and size actually makes a big difference from 3440x1440
I ordered one at launch it is not coming until the end of July 😭. I’m replacing a LG 34GN850 and cannot wait. I have an OLED tv so have been waiting to get something similar for gaming.
“Excuse my French but it’s an Arc de Triomphe” gained you a sub, lol!
I ordered mine some time ago (eta 6/17) and if it did support compression I would have canceled the order. We need DisplayPort 2.0 now, but even the RTX 40 series is limited to 1.4a. Reminds me of the time when SATA was a bottleneck.
Totally agree, buying this absolutely brilliant monitor this week.
I've been using the Samsung 43" ultrawide for the last 3 years & I'm completely spoiled by the versatility it provides. That being said IF Dell releases this is a 43-49" then take my $$$
Iv bought the 38 inch version once you go that big you don’t wanna go back its £1200 but its absolutely awesome experience RdR 2 is fukin epic mate
If it also had a pair of decent speakers and hdmi 2.1 connection for the same price would have really been an incredible catch for everyone!!
who the fuck uses monitor speakers lmao they always sound like trash
"if it had decent speakers" said no gamer ever
Same in 43" 144hz would be the dream
Subbed! Great video, convinced me to get this later in the year when I finally build my PC after so long.
Great video. Thanks for the info.. I want this soo bad.. but yes.. image burn in is what I am worried about and that waranty just makes me think that price is for a product that last 3 years... maybe I will want to upgrade by then but 5 would be nice out of it.. and I will be paranoid about tabs and autohide task bar can be annoying.... I just don't see the point in upgrading my current 1440p 144hz screen to anything less than this though as been waiting for new tech and seems like the next lines from a few brands will all be based on this panal.. I really want Bigger and more contrast, not worried about 4k until the 6080 :P..
ended up getting it.. NO REGRETs!
@@brei.z Curious, what GPU are you running on your rig? Did you buy this monitor for strictly gaming or for productivity as well (ie. video editing)? I'm very interested in buying this Alienware AW3423DW QD OLED for gaming primarily.
@@localbraddah07 3080.. was worried the extra pixels from normal 1440p would bring it down but runs great.. will probably upgrade soon though.. I have been doing uni work on it and is what inspired me to get it, I didn't have an ultrawide before so does help alot but didn't see the point in spending money on a screen that was just a littler wider but essentially the same as what I had, rather pay even more and have a totally new thing, love new tech but was scared of oled for computer until this.. sometimes move things around but can see there is never image retention.. I honestly think if just doing productivity, then buy lcd.. I got this for gaming as the blacks and everything make it soo much nicer, been gaming for years and have seen things in the last few months that were just not possible to display on old tech, Love this thing! although it depends on the game alot more.. a Oled tv can just enhance everything to fit the specs of the tv. Pc games don't know what screen you have and since most people don't have one with hdr this good, it's not a priority,... like vr.. small user base.. So some games are mind blowing while others can be a bit disapointing but am gonna mess around with reshade during the break as I read that can make alot of them look way better.. It's a great gaming monitor that works fine for other things but if not gaming, i think it would be waste as deeper blacks don't make productivity work any more exciting as does it cost a more.
Hi PC Centric. I finally received mine and absolutely love it! I noticed your B&W speakers which I also have a pair of and am wondering how you power them and connect to the pc? Also, where did you get those stands for the B&W's? Thank you!!
hope they make 4k version of this
Great review! What about text clarity? Some reviews say that because the pixel arrangement there can been some issues when displaying black text over white background for example.
Text in general looks perpetually blurry on it due to the WRGB structure (they opted for this to avoid stressing the blue diode too much + it's part of how QD-OLEDs get that much brighter).
Wasn't a noticeable issue for me
I wanted a monitor that at least supploted something. Disappointed!!!
Got mine yesterday, not as impressed as I thought I’d be. It’s good, but for whatever reason the auto hdr games are not good on this compared to the lcd fald screens. Native hdr looks great
HDR is a problem with this monitor, it's been mentioned in a few other reviews. The text is also blurry due to an odd pixel layout.
LED and OLED are both yesterday's technology, QD-OLED is the future, it's cheaper to produce than either when they first got released and miles above both in quality, this strongly indicates a dramatic shift in what we'll see on store shelves here in the next few years

If I may ask what your speaker stands are? Really cool looking speaker setup...
I got one and it was kinda under my expectations. The vertical view of the actual monitor is too short for a immersive feel in my opinion. Ended up returning it and getting the aw3821dw bc it’s a taller screen. Also $1,200 for a 1440p monitor is underwhelming. The 38” alienware has a better resolution and looks great.
The thing that keeps me from buying this, is the fact it doesnt support UHD/4K and downscales to 1440p for consoles. So its a purely PC monitor. Alot of other ultrawides support 4K input.
Wait what?! Doesn’t have hdmi 2.1?!
@@mannyfresh7065 No. It's one of the most baffling things about this monitor. It's just HDMI 2.0 and DP 1.4. So I'm happy I didn't wait for the Alienware and just grabbed an LG C1.
Why would you even use a ultrawide on a console? Sry but that's just dumb
@@karljuliuz multipurpose monitor. Ultrawide for PC, 4k downscaled to 1440p for consoles (which mostly run at 1440p anyway)
@@Zyanide09 still kinda dumb. Why not game on a 4K monitor or tv for console? that way it doesn't look crap.
I want this in 38
Very enjoyable monitor for entertainment. Blue Ray movies in HDR, and games look beautiful.
This monitor would look best for single player games like story based and sport games, but sport games run best on PS5 and Series X because the best of sport game features are exclusive to consoles.
I burned my OLED TV but man is gaming on that awesome, kinda worried about this monitor but time will tell.
really cool monitor i'll never be able to afford tho lol
Great video, what speakers are those next to the monitor? 😊
Is there any real noticeable difference between 8 bit dithering at 175hz and 10 bit at 144hz in terms of colors/picture quality/hdr quality? Or would you have to be REALLY looking to spot a difference?
Mine is hopefully arriving June 7th. I currently have a X35 so fingers crossed its a worthy upgrade 😁
175Hz at 8bit > 144Hz at 10bit
If you really need the extra colour spectrum for photo/video editing then you can always switch
@@Okay-cd6be I'll only be using it for gaming and RUclips / Twitch to be perfectly honest. Having said that, I won't really notice a difference color wise between 8bit/10bit?
Also thanks for the reply!
You won't notice, I certainly didn't
If you turn on HDR, Nvidia dithering turns on with an 8 bit signal and in my tests using VESAs displayhdr app it has slightly less banding than 144hz 10 bit despite being 8 bit. Nvidias dithering can actually beat a native 10 bit signal.
@@xm3405 this happens automatically when HDR turns on? I just set my monitor to 175hz 8bit and it will just do the rest?
convinced me to get one, thanks bud!
how much clearance with the monitor extended as high as it can go?
Went back and forth and ended up getting a 48in C1. I really wanted something bigger that what I had and 4k and no fan.
I`m re-watching this video as im about to build a new pc with rtx 4090 or new AMD gpu! cheers from Canada
Nice review mate. Whats your webcam btw...
I have such a quiet studio that it bothers me when my phone charger is plugged in because I can hear it working. I hope that the fan on this doesn't annoy me that much, but I imagine that it won't since I will be probably playing something when it's on.
Im returning mine and sticking with the LG C1. Far better functionality!
Can you tell me the length of your table? To know approximately how much distance you have between the monitor and your eyes.
i'm using the 48cx with custom résolution 3840x1600 the only bumer is that i can only go up to 60hz with 10bt and most of the game can not go full screen and since it's in in window mode it can't turn on the HDR. But yh 21/9 oled gaming is the futur no doubt. I'll wait for a 38'' model
I pay £988.99 last week (£111.00 off) from the usual price £1099.99.
Make something on Stream Deck Pc Handheld
Will there be a comparison video? I'm looking to buy this monitor on BLACK FRIDAY here in the states.
you set up looks nice only the soft pipe very bad looking for you case
mini led i think is the future , oled is nice but too many compromises
Love this review. I have the Samsung QD OLED and it's the best picture quality I've ever seen
You have the S95B ? I heard the best thing ever
@@trevormurdok7666yes it's amazing
