Nice one! A different method but really useful to do this without help. Great for those who's wife or girlfriend aren't around before parade or prefer to stay in bed! Thank you.

For those who really want to know how to wear the plaid look up Peter Harvey or D/M Alistair Pether. Peter was in The Scots Guard so he knows how! Alistair Pether has been D/M since he was taught by his dad which was also a D/M and both have won many many drum major prizes AND for dress! Pether was also the D/M to the RAF pipe band! SO if you want to know how to wear a plaid the RIGHT way look those up. This video is 1 back to front in a mirror and 2 none of the Scottish Regiments wear the plaid this way, it's some kind of cock up American way of wearing it and if you want to wear the right way, then look these 2 people up!
Peter Harvey's one is listed as Drum Major Plaid Tying: Scots Guards Method.
Alistair Pether on is listed as How to Tie and Wear a Scottish Plaid, for the Drum Major.

Well Said That Man... British Military Experience is a must ! Jock Guards is a very sure way to figure out how to get dressed properly in NO.1's. Me personally wasn't in the Guards but still have about 30 Years experience of how to wear the kit properly from my time in the Forces....

The American way is the better and best way to wear the full dress, only because it is the American way of course and that within itself makes it proper.

This is just one way to tie a plaid, in fact a modern way for pipers. Different regiments had different styles of tieing plaids. In this portrait of Sir John Sinclair you can see that the plaid, in Gordon tartan, hooks on to the button on the left side of the jacket, runs around his bottom and returns across his chest, over his left shoulder and dangles down his back to mid-calf. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sir_John_Sinclair,_1st_Baronet

Is this tape a negative? The individual is attaching the plaid to his right shoulder rather than the left!!!!!

Yes. He said it was the left, which means he's filming in a mirror.

The article of clothing known as a "fly plaid" or "piper's plaid" is pronounced "plade", not "plad".

    I like the modern way,
drap over shoulder, fasten epplate then broach off in front, back is dangling just down.

It's not a modern way it's the way other regiments wear it. urgh

That is how you would wear a fly plaid, not a full plaid, or what is known as a “piper’s plaid” which is what is shown in this video. Two completely different things. If you attempted to wear a piper’s plaid in the manner you are describing, it would be dragging on the ground about 4 feet behind you.
