Found his channel last week, got deep into a few videos before i found out he passed away 3 years ago. Thank you for the great content, its a sad but amazing feeling knowing im watching and subscribing to someone's life thats already passed.
Good tips given! I like to see you build a wood stove or explain about your stove such as where you got the parts from and what you had to fabricate. You present good, quality videos! Thanks!!!!!!!!
I used to be very happy to find this video-channel.I wished to thanks in your time for this wonderful video!! I undoubtedly having fun with each little bit of it and Ive you bookmarked to take a look at new stuff you youtube channel post.
Just as well that you had that gorgeous stove to keep the chills at bay. That bacon...I could smell it from here in England, but too bad that I couldn't eat some. lol. A great video and enjoyable entertainment. Take Care.
Power Plants and Bacon...Ya came in on a leafy day and left on a carpet of pure white...Awesome! And I'm like you...with the comfort of that tent and bacon with the heat...well I probable would have stayed and had them air drop me some more bacon and added frog legs...lol.
I just checked out the Power Pot, great concept. I have recieved my Biolite stove and used it this weekend. Great fun and yes, it does charge my iphone 6 well. The thing is small, fairly light and took very little room in my backpack. It made a great hot and focused fire source and took a rediculously small amount of wood to cook dinner and make coffee. I've seen hacks where youtubers have put a rollup stainless chimney on it for hot tenting. This will NOT work because you have to feed it every 10 minutes or so. But great for cooking and has an ultra clean flame; I cooked just inside my tent with the door open and no smoke!
Take look at what Allpowers has to offer first. I reviewed 3 of them and was happy. Owned them for over a year before the reviews. Thanks for watching!
Great video. Love the stove. Would appreciate a video on how you assembled it.45 years in the woods, been charged by a bear, had others casually visiting. Have carried flares, bangers, and spray. NEVER had to use any of them, let alone a gun. We don't carry here in Canada, but I wonder if that pea shooter would have much effect on a charging grizzly, or a zombie for that matter
Thanks for watching brother! I am going to do a stove video in the future. The fact that I am talking about bears and zombies in the same sentence is a clue it was a joke. The little gun is for more dangerous threats like people. That said I do pack a counter assault big can of spray when hiking locally. They took down the bird feeders again so had to give up on um. I guess they like the black seed. Then again like you I never needed it. The .380 will stop a zombie but yea gotta shoot them in the head. Body shots are useless. Fortunately yea don't need silver like with werewolves.
"Now, you can't do turkey bacon. That's like Planet of the Apes crazy." Haha! How true. I love how you're always smiling during your trips. That's great. I enjoyed the video. Thanks for sharing.
I made one out of two SS servings trays. Well actually it's 95% done. I just have gotta put the door flap on. I just used two to make the firebox. I have gotta do a video on various wood stoves. Overall try to make it out of a stainless container as most of the work will be done for you aka no welding www.webstaurantstore.com/choice-1-3-size-standard-weight-anti-jam-stainless-steel-steam-table-hotel-pan-6-deep/4070369.html?Google&GoogleShopping&gclid=Cj0KCQiAg4jSBRCsARIsAB9ooats5lmaKudFMKr16nqUF1Df9Ov_4cees4NmZjPHCvIUl-0IKvfk7GoaAqMyEALw_wcB
Greetings from Alberta, Canada! Just found your channel and subbed right away! Really like your tipi setup and your little stove. So weird cuz I checked the tipi out this past weekend and really liked what I saw. And am always fascinated by those portable stoves. It all came together in your video!!
The hollow grind is always the better slider. The scanty is also good but second best. The sabre grind is for splitting and heavy cutting/chopping. Then there is the flat grind its a good choice for butchering and other types of cutting near bone cause it's good for minor prying. Ah he'll use what I want....lol.
Very Interesting. I wished you showed the teepee going up and down in normal time, it is something very new to me. Keep the vids coming, I love to watch them.
If it gets hot enough it'll burn. Do his videos relax anyone else's nerves? I love watching these before going to bed. When he starts cooking it makes me want a midnight snack though, unfortunately not 🥓 lol. It's good knowing you have a firearm.
It's around 7 inches in diameter and maybe 10.5 long. Not sure of the stack robber as used a kitchen container as the body. I never measured it. Will check that later and thanks for watching!
Opening a vent will cut down on condensation (sweat) inside your tent when running a stove. I never heard just how warm it was inside the tent vs outside?
I didn't have that much condensation inside the tent. Much of that water running down is actually on the outside not inside as the material is kinda clear. It was no bother at all during this outing though with a single walled shelter condensation can be an issue. There are two pulls on the zipper to create a window on both sides. Also I have a liner though didn't pack it. I have been using these shelters of over a decade so kinda know about stuff like that. The temps tend to be around 50 to 100 degrees above the outside temps though will vary greatly depending on height. I prefer to cover the gaps on the floor/walls and use camp materials like stuff sacks etc to cover the gap near the door. The temperatures will swing fast as the stove burns down. Thanks for watching. Reply ·
Can that actually charge a phone when cooking in terms of a real amount. I was looking into that. I have some solar panels and they work very well. Can even get a charge during clouds. Thanks for watching!
I dont own one yet, though I plan to get the bigger Base Camp unit. All reports I've seen say yes, they do indeed charge your phone/camera etc. They charge during clouds too :) Great channel, keep up the good work!
They work via the differential between the temperature of the fire and water. There is also something called a power pot. I gotta check that out again.
The other day I ordered a blue one called the camp cook stove. It doesn't have the USB output or internal charging option. My reason being it was 48 dollars shipped and all I wanted was the forced air wood stove. My zip stove is giving me problems. Power supply shorting out or something. I have a DIY forced air stove as well. The camp cook is 8oz lighter. I can carry stuff in my pack extra. For example for 6ish oz I have a solar panel that could charge the battery in 4 hours. For 10 oz have one that could charge it in two. For 8 oz have one with a built in lithium ion battery that can charge it self in 4 hours then charge the stove or phone even at night. The fan last 30 hours so would have plenty of time to do it. I do like the idea of the wood powered charging stuff but the solar and batteries/powerbanks seemed more practice.. Granted it could charge at night etc etc but have batteries to store power. How knows maybe one day I will get the other as well. Thanks for watching!
Walker, for some crazy reason this is the first time I've seen this video, and the first time I've seen you use a single wall tipi. What are your thoughts about using several applications of Scotchgard or some other type of water repellent on the inside and outside of the tipi to reduce condensation? I've purchased at least 4 cans of Scotchgard for my Tut and intend to apply it as soon as we get a few uninterrupted days without rain
Condensation comes from the inside. The silicon impregnated nylon if seam sealed is waterproof. I don't know what will happen if that is sprayed on your tipi. Check with the manufacture first. I do know it won't help with condensation. A liner or UL bivy for the sleeping bag is the best way to deal with it. Also if the stove is running that helps.
Hi Walker. Two very nice videos. Enjoyed them. By the way, towards the end of the second video, I noticed you move fast when you're cold... 😜 Best wishes.
I see a Million dry leaves all around your campsite, wouldn't these be great starters? one more thing, like myself where there is never enough back=up gear or food, you seem to have a great outlook for this!
Leaves on the ground are often wet and more so in this case. My advice is to avoid using them for tinder. Hanging dead leaves like those found on Beech and Oak are ok. Thanks for watching
I do have a solar panel, in fact the channel did several reviews on them. They will be part of another Hot Tenting video in the future on general Prepping Shelters but there was no sun for this outing. Not even a single ray and wouldn't be for days so didn't pack them. I prefer AllPowers. Thanks for watching.
how come you don"t push leaves up against the outside of the bottom of tent for insulation? is it just because its still so cold you dont want it to freeze
Sometimes I do and sometimes I don’t. If expecting snow often I don’t bother. We have wide swings of temps during storms and hate to have the edges get frozen in. Also depends on the pitch of the tent and outside temps. Just depends. Thanks for watching.
I clean out the stove very day to remove the ash. Proper wood selection helps. Certain wood has poor coaling characteristics. Good hard wood burns down to a fine ash. Thanks for watching.
Training. Sometimes I put a full 5 gallon water cooler bottle inside that pack however despite the impressive size of the shelter and looks of the stove it's not really as heavy as one might expect. Thanks for watching!
Two can fit great in the 6-man but honestly the 8 man (spent a few nights in one) has far more stand up room. If I had it to do all over again would go Sawtooth for solo and 8 man for everything else. Thanks for watching!
thanks for your answer. I still hesitate between a tipi and a canvas tent. When I saw you do solo with the 6 man tipi, i was thinking they misname their products... keep posting video, your doing great. regards from Canada
I actually talked with the owner Patrick Smith about his occupancy ratings. He used to come up to the Dacks and camp with us on the ECRs. He said the ratings are based on sleeping not living. For living he always said cut the rating in 1/2. A 6 man tipi can live 3 and 8 man 4. I can do 6-man solo and it's a castle. For my next outing I am going to take the 4-man with liner. Have a paratipi, 4-man and 6-man. I don't backpack hunt, more of a drive out then walk to the tree stand person but do use the tipis to backpack fish rivers. Very nice. Canvas tents are also great but too heavy for my pack. Overall when it comes to shelters bigger tends to be best unless you can't fit the foot print in the location. Some places I camp can only find a spot for the paratipi or just take my Hennessy hammock.
I fabricated it out of Stainless sheet. 24 gauge for the body, 20 for the doors and back. The stack robber was made from SS kitchen sugar holding container, SS mesh and 24 gauge sheet. The pipe and collar were taken from a Kifaru Small stove Kifaru.net It was made for fit a Mollie side pouch however that was a mistake. I should of made it 12-14 inches long rather than 10.5 as then it could of fitted the rolled SS foil pipe. The legs are made from 10/24th threaded stock with SS wing nuts. It would be a good video project for the channel however making this isn't an easy DIY type thing unless you're good at welding. Thanks for watching!
I wonder what a snow rattler would look like? Maybe covered in fur swimming though the snow rattling etc etc. LOL! Who knows but I wouldn't want to deal with it.
There are actually two. The thin blue one with magnetic ends is the Olight UC. I ordered that from Going Gear. The Nitecore F1 is also available from the same place. Both could also be found on Amazon. Thanks for watching.
That was great ! Thanks. I do hot tenting too and what I really like to do is take some candles with me. So much nicer then electric light. btw you made a realy nice stove there ! I made one myself ( made a video ) What exactly do you need a 'stackrobber' for ? ( I suscribed ! )
I have used a candle lantern as well and liked the warm glow. Have the standard and mini. The robber kills all the sparks, transfers BTUs which can escape out of the pipe back into the tent and burns any gasses within the smoke. Thanks for the sub!
Hi, I'm a recent subscriber. Just wanted to say you are Amazing! really enjoy your videos, thank you for sharing. You have done something I didn't think possible, hot tent camping with just a backpack and no pulk. Love your backpack, was wondering how much your whole setup weighed? I don't have to worry about mountains where I live, but the winters here can be brutally cold. Glad I found your channel. Look forward to many more. Take care, hope you had a great Christmas and Happy New Year.
Thanks for the sub and watching. I think it was maybe 45 lbs as I made no attempt to lighten the load. I can get a hot tenting system down to the mid 30's. Have a great day!
Thanks! appreciate the info. Would love to get a Tipi and wood stove like you have. Been winter camping a few times years ago. Would like to try it again, also would like a winter bug out system. Stay warm (I'm sure you will). Take care.
I'D LIKE TO KNOW ABOUT THAT STOVE. ANY INFO WOULD BE APPRECIATED. INSPITE OF THE NASTY WEATHER YOU APPEARED TO REMAIN COMFORTABLE. YOU GOT ANY OF THAT COOKED UP BACON LEFT OVER ? IT MADE ME VERY HUNGRY. HAHA
so,any improving plan on the tent?as I understanding, the stove can only lasts for a few hours, so later in the night it will be very cold, and will count on sleepbag finally
My mistake on the stove. Have a bunch of hot tenting videos so mixed them up. That stove is my own DIY however Kifaru does make UL Backpacking stoves. The shelter is Kifaru. The idea is for a backpacking system. A canvas tent and overnight stove can be 50 or more lbs. (sometimes just for the stove.). Often UL backpacking heated shelters are 8 lbs or both stove and shelter. Going into a sleeping back warm is all the difference in the world. My boots and gear dries out when operating the stove. Just 15 minutes of all encompassing heat can reverse a hard day of constant cold. There is one improvement. A liner which is available. I used one in this video. ruclips.net/video/HuUjhnna-rY/видео.html
Wowzers that was great had to watch twice. Say I have a question have you done a detailed video on the process of setting up the tent ⛺️ and actually putting the stove and pipe together. As a newbie to this I would love to see it .Well have a great 👍 day can't wait for your next adventure 🔪🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥👍👍👍👍👍👍
This one I believe. Not breathable shelter with pounding slush rain outside. The stove actually kept it from dripping on my kit so was ok. I do have a liner for another heated shelter but not that one. Thanks for watching.
Then it would be too heavy for the size as this is back packing gear. I do have a breathable nylon liner which allows water to pass one way but not the other however not for this tent and frankly it doesn't bother me. The shelter is made to take very high winds. Have extreme high winds with it. The conical shape is what makes it so wind proof. Been using that tent for about 10 years now and have also used canvas hot tents as well.
I guess it s the stove making the dampness too....but we do have a sort of tent chimney too, not the stove's ,conveying vapor up, so it should not make such a dampness....just speculating,
@@MegaWoodswalker I mean do you not get cold while you sleep? I am interested in this, and may take it up. I have watched most of your RUclips videos, and enjoy all of them.
@@dickdiddler6722 Thanks brother. The stove runs down during the night. What I do is stuff the stove with wood and then enter my sleeping system warm. As the stove burns down I go more snug into the bag aka zip it up etc etc as necessary. As a result going to sleep warm and packing a bag and sleeping pad of the proper rating goes a long way in keeping me warm for the night.
That was very satisfying to watch. Looked great , especially when you whipped out that beautiful bacon! The end was nice when it was fast-forwarded too. Take care. oh by the way, where exactly is this?
One company did (or maybe still does) make something called a power pot but was always skeptical as to the out put I know they work on the differential and often there is plenty of snow around. Thanks for watching!
Great video, awesome hot tent. I bet you hated to pac up while it was storming. We are hikers from the Smoky Mountains area in Tennessee, please check us out.
If you mean by a liner no but do have one for the smaller Kifaru 4-man Tipi I also own. A liner is a very nice addition to a single walled waterproof tent but never saved the money to buy one for the 6-man. Best part about a line is during extreme cold it will hold in more heat and keep out drafts. Thanks for watching!
I have seen Timbers a few miles from that camp. That said the Tipi is a cold weather shelter IMHO. I use a hammock during summer. Thanks for watching brother!
The bears are in the den from Nov to mid March. Just the same I air the tent out after cooking by opening the doors and the food gets hung. Thanks for watching.
The way you narrate is very conversational. It's like we're sitting right there with you. Very enjoyable viewing experience.

this is one of my favorite videos. I think I have watched it like thirty times.
Wow! I appreciate that and thanks for watching.
Nice weather that rolled in, gotta admit that weather like that is what I have suffered the most in out in the field even compared to -40.
I had a debate with someone a few days ago about this topic and they disagreed. Not sure why as it's kinda obvious. LOL!
Lots of work, great job. thanks
Thanks again!!!
Great video, love your stove. I have a Knico and it's to big. Nice teepee too.
I have a Kni-co Packer Jr. More of a pulk sled for pack animal thing IMHO. Well made gear for sure. Thanks for watching!
Absolutely fantastic video.....cheers!
He died
With your videos, Yes! Sir everything is going to be good
Thanks for watching
I really like your battery power set up, I am going to add the newer Anker 21 watt three panel backpack solar charger.

Kifaru EMR but sadly it was been discontinued. Check out Kifaru.net and thanks for watching!

what is the name of the tent and what model and where did you get the woodstove?
The tent is a Kifaru 6-man. The stove is DIY. I fabricated it out of SS sheet stock. Thanks for watching!
great stuff man. love the tent and stove. can you recommend where to buy and the name?
I recommend Kifaru., This is their 6-man model. Thanks for watching!

Leaves on the ground are often wet and more so in this case. My advice is to avoid using them for tinder. Hanging dead leaves like those found on Beech and Oak are ok. Thanks for watching
I'm here watching if nobody else is. and I watched the whole thing. Question, why no solar panel? and thanks for the video. I LOVE bacon.
I do have a solar panel, in fact the channel did several reviews on them. They will be part of another Hot Tenting video in the future on general Prepping Shelters but there was no sun for this outing. Not even a single ray and wouldn't be for days so didn't pack them. I prefer AllPowers. Thanks for watching.
great video makes me won't to camping in the snow
Thanks for watching!
Hey man did you build that stove yourself or did you buy it send me the info
DIY not purchased. Thanks for watching!
how come you don"t push leaves up against the outside of the bottom of tent for insulation? is it just because its still so cold you dont want it to freeze
Sometimes I do and sometimes I don’t. If expecting snow often I don’t bother. We have wide swings of temps during storms and hate to have the edges get frozen in. Also depends on the pitch of the tent and outside temps. Just depends. Thanks for watching.
Why can't the snow stay around the bottom of tent would it not be good to insult?Love your video's 👍🏻
What do you do if you have a fire burning and you still need the stove but it is building up a lot of ash?
I clean out the stove very day to remove the ash. Proper wood selection helps. Certain wood has poor coaling characteristics. Good hard wood burns down to a fine ash. Thanks for watching.
That is a killer stove what brand of tent is that?
Kifaru. Thanks for watching!
There is what what we call a line loss. There is always a loss. There's also a resistance to charging when you transfer.
that little pinger would just make a bear angry 😀
The bears and zombies line was meant to be a joke. Thanks for watching.
how did you carry all your stuff yourself
Training. Sometimes I put a full 5 gallon water cooler bottle inside that pack however despite the impressive size of the shelter and looks of the stove it's not really as heavy as one might expect. Thanks for watching!
Hello there
Which kifaru tipi would you recommend for 2 hunters? Would you use your 6 men or an 8 men?
Some places I camp can only find a spot for the paratipi or just take my Hennessy hammock.
if you would tell me how to make a camp stove like the one you have made. Mega woodswalker
Nice video :)
Thanks for watching! I appreciate the positive comment.
That's true. No snakes in winter😀
I wonder what a snow rattler would look like? Maybe covered in fur swimming though the snow rattling etc etc. LOL! Who knows but I wouldn't want to deal with it.
MegaWoodswalker me either😄
1:24 The handling of the axe makes me wanna scream. :D
Thanks for watching!
Well. You are welcome. :)
Goofi kind of man 😂 Like it 👍
Thanks for watching!
Hi that battery charger where did you get that !
There are actually two. The thin blue one with magnetic ends is the Olight UC. I ordered that from Going Gear. The Nitecore F1 is also available from the same place. Both could also be found on Amazon. Thanks for watching.
thank you
Where do you do most of your camping?
Probably on the Appalachian trail. Thanks for watching!
Take care.
battery charger with dc input + solar panel + usb booster cable = unlimited power for hiking/camping.
I like this one for on the fly. ruclips.net/video/rPwQ0fzjCRc/видео.html thanks for watching!
I'D LIKE TO KNOW ABOUT THAT STOVE. ANY INFO WOULD BE APPRECIATED.
INSPITE OF THE NASTY WEATHER YOU APPEARED
TO REMAIN COMFORTABLE.
YOU GOT ANY OF THAT
COOKED UP BACON LEFT OVER ? IT MADE ME VERY
HUNGRY. HAHA
He died
your tent seems a little bit thinner,is it warm inside?
Yes but it doesn't retain any heat once the stove dies down. Thanks for watching.
so,any improving plan on the tent?as I understanding, the stove can only lasts for a few hours, so later in the night it will be very cold, and will count on sleepbag finally
I never done a detailed video on setting up a heated shelter. I think that's a great idea and will add it to my to do list. Thanks for watching.
MegaWoodswalker thanks for sharing your knowledge and experience must say you have the sweetest setup
😃Thank you!
Thanks for watching!
What size MSR kittle is that?
This one I believe. Thanks for watching! www.backcountry.com/msr-titan-titanium-kettle?CMP_SKU=CAS0385&MER=0406&skid=CAS0385-ONCO-L85&mr:trackingCode=2B3DC1DA-F061-DF11-9DA0-002219319097&mr:referralID=NA&mr:device=c&mr:adType=plaonline&CMP_ID=PLA_GOc001&Google&PLA&k_clickid=_k_CjwKCAjwstfkBRBoEiwADTmnENGtVISN2VCsoGeFmi0iORtJDlTauYapUPxU6H76Ml8pvcn7erJWnxoC62kQAvD_BwE_k_&rmatt=tsid:1042790|cid:690281696|agid:39323529961|tid:aud-265486194476:pla-387886748803|crid:154691826213|nw:g|rnd:3520996132578687125|dvc:c|adp:1o1|mt:|loc:9003359&gclid=CjwKCAjwstfkBRBoEiwADTmnENGtVISN2VCsoGeFmi0iORtJDlTauYapUPxU6H76Ml8pvcn7erJWnxoC62kQAvD_BwE
why such an inner tent vapour condensation?
Not breathable shelter with pounding slush rain outside. The stove actually kept it from dripping on my kit so was ok. I do have a liner for another heated shelter but not that one. Thanks for watching.
it should have cotton inside fabric, with some mesh and nylon outside tarp over it well strung and well fixed to the ground. To withstand high winds.
I guess it s the stove making the dampness too....but we do have a sort of tent chimney too, not the stove's ,conveying vapor up, so it should not make such a dampness....just speculating,
How warm does it get inside your tent?
Could get over 100F in there. Thanks for watching!

I mean do you not get cold while you sleep? I am interested in this, and may take it up. I have watched most of your RUclips videos, and enjoy all of them.
@@dickdiddler6722 Thanks brother. The stove runs down during the night. What I do is stuff the stove with wood and then enter my sleeping system warm. As the stove burns down I go more snug into the bag aka zip it up etc etc as necessary. As a result going to sleep warm and packing a bag and sleeping pad of the proper rating goes a long way in keeping me warm for the night.

Thanks for such prompt answer, I am wanting to get into this, your videos are the best!
Have you ever considered a small solar charger ?
Yes. I reviewed several on the channel but rarely field them. AllPowers are the ones. Thanks for watching.
looks like an old Sawvivor saw.
Yes. Dang shame they went out of Biz.
Nothing like packing a wet tent, eh.
You know it. The slush freezes the hands and the tent weight doubles. It's like a cold brick. LOL! Thanks for watching.
Always gonna have a bitch from someone. I really enjoy your videos. Thanks for making them
Thanks for watching!
That was very satisfying to watch. Looked great , especially when you whipped out that beautiful bacon! The end was nice when it was fast-forwarded too. Take care.
oh by the way, where exactly is this?
In the woods of New England! The bacon was great and thanks for watching.
Nice video! Are u camping in Michigan? 🙂
The woods of New England. Thanks for watching!
Hi there you can fined me on face book but were did you get your stove i like it.
I made the stove. Thanks for watching!
You should have invest in a thermal charger that hooks to your camp stove
One company did (or maybe still does) make something called a power pot but was always skeptical as to the out put I know they work on the differential and often there is plenty of snow around. Thanks for watching!
What's the best bacon cutter?...........My teeth.
So long as the job gets done! Thanks for watching!
Great video, awesome hot tent. I bet you hated to pac up while it was storming. We are hikers from the Smoky Mountains area in Tennessee, please check us out.
Thanks for watching! Yea it sucked to leave in the storm.
do you have the vapor barrier in there?
If you mean by a liner no but do have one for the smaller Kifaru 4-man Tipi I also own. A liner is a very nice addition to a single walled waterproof tent but never saved the money to buy one for the 6-man. Best part about a line is during extreme cold it will hold in more heat and keep out drafts. Thanks for watching!
like your tent. but I would want a floor. to man poisonous snakes here in Arkansas.
I have seen Timbers a few miles from that camp. That said the Tipi is a cold weather shelter IMHO. I use a hammock during summer. Thanks for watching brother!
ooh im the 600th like. neat!
Your welcome
Thanks some tasty bacon🍻
It was great!! Thanks for watching!
Have you ever had a issue with bears? I mean you are cooking bacon in your tent ⛺️
The bears are in the den from Nov to mid March. Just the same I air the tent out after cooking by opening the doors and the food gets hung. Thanks for watching.
Need a thicker and darker tent with this. Need .45 pistol for bigger predator. Your chimney is pointing upward making the snow to go thru inside?
Got to watch out for those zombies
Isn't that a morakniv knife?
Yes. It's a Mora Companion. Thanks for watching!
that looks like Gods country
The hills are nice. Thanks for watching!
