  • Saxonia Anhalt lies in the heart of Germany. Romantic villages, fertile fields and picturesque rivers adorn the countryside of the region. In Spring, it’s all about asparagus - the white asparagus - as the region is one of the main “spargel” growers in Germany. The Tinnenberg family run an asparagus farm and try out new recipes dedicated to the healthy vegetable every year.
    What's cookin' is about traditional culinary recipes from different European regions.

    I am from America and I am enjoying these videos so much. I only wish I could visit and taste everything I've never had before. I also love seeing how others live and the beautiful land. Thank you for having these video's here on RUclips, otherwise I would never have the gift of such wonderful new adventures. I am watching this in the year 2020 as the world is experiencing the Covid-19 (Corona Virus). If anyone reading this comment sees it during this horrible event in our world, please know I wish you and your family well. I am a Christian and I pray for all of the world to see an end to this horrible pandemic quickly. Peace be with you all.

    People in Europe live a much higher quality of life. I've also been noticing that in all those countries, they love to eat outside. Not much here in the U S. Not to put down this country. I just find it wonderful to eat out there with the trees and the animals all around. I love Nature. Great video.

      I think the central theme of these peoples higher quality of life is that they do not rely on the grocery store for food and therefor have more freedom in a sense.

    Great program! FYI the minimum wages in Germany have to be the same for ALL employees, regardless of where they come from. It's a new law which finally passed in Europe!

    I had fresh vegetables in my garden when I was a kid. This included carrots,beans, peas, and asparagus.We used manure, and tilled the soil. It tasted so much better than what you get these days from the supermarket. People today are totally ignorant of what they are missing out on.

    Only on a German TV/Video would someone have to explain what green asparagus is. White asparagus is hard to come by in the rest of the world since everyone is producing green asparagus since it's so much less labor involved.
    As usual I love the "small child with a knife learning to wield it" scene. Americans would lose it over the dangers of handing a knife to a kid that age.
    That daughter of the farmer has one phenomenal head of red hair. She probably hates it but it's just an amazing amount of hair.

    It is quite pity that polish workers get half of the german minimal wage. Maybe that's why asparagus are affordable...

      They don't cos minimal wage is for everyone working on German soil. Everything else is illegal.

    I had no idea that Germany had such beauty. It’s kinda funny. The young want to leave for adventure. Older people would rather live on the farm. America just doesn’t have the character that these places have. Our county is not old enough for character.

    There was only one issue with this video- the narration was so low volume that it was drowned out by the grunts and squeals of the pigs!

    I've been watching this whole series and I'm just wondering; why does everyone eat outside? In every episode? Is that a European thing? Or is that just something these families are doing for the documentary crew? In Florida where I live I can honestly say that I have never eaten a meal outdoors.

    • @stephanienuce7711

      J Bs my French friend said they really do eat outside. She said she & her family eat every meal outside during the summer months. I asked her this same question.

    • @llaptoo
      @llaptoo 4 года назад

      Yes in Germany we love to eat outside. People do it all the time in their gardens or even on a tiny balcony when the weather is good enough.

    • @sc0ttishlass
      @sc0ttishlass 4 года назад +1

      Well Florida is warm year round while here in Europe, esp. in the mid to Northern half we make the best out of the summers and eat outside before autumn and winter gets too cold for being outside.

    Can't see why anyone would buy white asparagus, since the green is more healthy and doesn't have to be peeled. Just what you're used to, I guess.
