I thought of this idea for the Rouge trader game (you find a space wolf being kept prisoner as a gladiator in commorragh) and thought instead of a space wolf it could be a lunar wolf that got stuck in a warp storm and you discovered he ship in real space being attacked by demons. Then after you save him you’d get 2-3 options, telling him the truth of the Horus heresy, lie and say we’re still in 30k, or tell him a half truth half lie (that some time has passed and his primarch is dead but don’t tell him what he did or that the emperor is a zombie)

So if you picked the option where you lie, he finds the out the truth at the end of the game and turns to chaos (bad ending). If you speak the truth he’ll go on to verify/try to deny and find out entire truth (since he wouldn’t believe you) (good ending since he would see his primarch in a more evil light). And the third option would have a mix of both where he stays with you since you didn’t outright lie to him (heretic/loyalist path)

There’s actually a fan made chapter called the Knights Penitent who are pre-Heresy Word Bearers who got lost in the Warp and got sent on a Crusade by the Inquisition to redeem themselves

May have been that because the Nails require removal of parts of the brain, or maybe their effects of constantly causing pain unless you kill something would mess with their ability to concentrate. Whatever the case may be, I shudder to think of how they learned that they couldn't implant Librarians with the Butchers Nails, or what may have happened to those psykers. These also could have been intentional and steered that way by Khorne, because we know how he feels about psykers. Except for Azariah Kyras, he gets a pass because Khorne likes him.
