hmm decisions decisions. My local big liquor retailer Total Wine has given up on this bottling. They've reduced it down to $75 USD before taxes in an effort to make a holiday push for other whiskeys. Before it was $105. Seems like it was brought down to fair value. Next time I'm there I may grab it for $77. If I miss out oh well. Thanks again for honest and thorough review.

If cheap I think it's worth a try. Just a shame that Highland park could've made it really special at 50%+

I've been curious about this one. I've heard mixed things. Sounds delicious, but the abv and the price... There's still some affordable Dark Origins in my market. That will remain my go-to sherried “teenage” HP for the time being. Cheers on another good one! 🥃

Thanks Geoff! Sorry it took me a while to get around the your message. I was pleasantly surprised by Dark Origins when I tried it. I seem to remember it being a fair price too. This Viking Heart is certainly good stuff but as you say... that price... Cheers!

What can I say... HP are somewhat of an easy target for friendly ribbing ;-) Thanks for watching!

I’ve been on the fence for this one, only because of the price. Your review is enough to take a pass on it.
I have 5 Highland Park bottles in my collection (Highland Park hits my flavor profile): Valkyrie, Valknut, Dark Origins, Cask Strength #1, and the Viking Honour 12 year old. For me, The Valkyrie is the best out of the 5. It must be: I’ve lost track of the number of bottles I drank when it was available!
Thanks for the time to review this. I would like to see the Highland Park Cask Strength Batch #1 versus Batch # 2 done, like you did with the Laphroaig Cask Strength 013 and 014.

I would love to recommend this whisky because I love HP as a distillery and this is very good whisky. The price makes it very difficult to recommend though. Shame!
I'm definitely open to trying the CS Batch #2... I might need to purchase another bottle of the Batch #1 to do that comparison though as mine is gone :-)
      Thanks for watching and commenting!

My HP is whicever goes on sale for UNDER 50 UKP (or 75 $CA ~ 60 USD). . . mostly to vatt with Tamdhu and re-creat the Gran Reserva of Mac.

I wonder how it compares with Dragon Legend, which has a similar ABV for half the price

Similar(ish) profile. Viking Heart is a bit more complex but Dragon Legend is way better value 😉 Dragon Legend is very underrated IMHO.

Sounds like a touch more ABV and it would have been worth the price. I've found about 46% to be my sweet spot for something I can dive into without being overwhelmed by the alcohol, but still get a solid profile.

Yes I really think so. IMHO 46% (minumum) is where all whisky should be if it's priced and marketed towards enthusiasts. It's the magic number! There have been an extremely small number of whiskies that I've still found underpowered at 46% but it would have undoubtedly helped this one and justified the price as you say :-)
