Gelfand is best known for inventing the "ollie," a skateboarding trick that changed the sport. This maneuver has since become the foundation of modern skateboarding and is used in countless tricks and variations.
Throughout his career, Gelfand has made major contributions to the sport of Skateboarding, both as a professional Skateboarder and as an innovator. He has competed in numerous competitions and has won numerous awards and accolades. He has also been featured in several Skateboarding films and videos and continues to be an inspiration to Skateboarders of all ages and skill levels.

Skateboarder mag in 79 ran a feature about the 'no hands ollie air' and blew my mind. He was on a Powell Peralta board.

Skateboarding will never surpass what it was in the 70s and 80s. It’s like the electric guitar. The guitar solo on Ice Cream Man. There will never be another Eddie Van Halen. It’s like space aliens came, did their thing, unattainable by us, and then moved on.
As far as new ground being broken; I have to agree. But today's skaters have just developed some mad skills on street that we never even imagined.
