Amazing build! I'm thinking about trying this in my greenhouse.

Well you should as it been a great way for me to propagate a lot seeds for my garden as I have transplant so many flowers, vegetables, cuttings, etc, from the rails to my garden. But you can use it for many things.. I will do some hydroponic lettuce but its to hot here right now so as it changes to cooler weather I will plant sone leafy greens. The rails should do great here in southern cali in the winter. But I will post some updates as I got some more ideas that came together that I think will work. But you should build small system as it reasonably cheap. Maybe I will make a price breakdown, problem not enough time!

on some of them are you wicking up into a container with seed starting mix ? I am running 4 gutters off 1 bucket (gravity) with a float with 5 gal grow bags wicking from the gutters. You are running high pressure to floats ? I like the orings for slip fitting. Are those 2x3 downspouts ? I Like using the one with float to feed the others. I ran a pvc pipe from bucket and branched off it. That is now unnesc. You find 1/4" line enough ? There is no return line ?

Great setup. How are you supplying the nutrients to those with the float?

Well for now I will using the Master Blend concentrate and just add directly to that middle rail and see how that goes. I been using the Master Blend Concentrate directly to the RGGS and the plants have been doing great. I just been sticking my EC meter into my RGGS gutter and get the reading then squirt in about 30 ML to gutter. So I will do the same for these but I am think would be like 2 ML per rail so I would be adding about 10 ML. Once I test my EC meter I can dial it in. I did buy his DIGG fertilizer injector from home depot thd.co/3KrSGZJ but yet to hook it up. Its supposedly set at fixed 100:1 ratio but I need to hook it up and test it and see what EC comes out it when I run the water through it. If it worked it would be great as it would skip having to have some large reservoir mixed with nutrients. The question is whether it works or fails. Time will tell!!

@@rufflifehydro I had a bucket system connected in line and the first bucket had a float where I would only add the nutrients weekly. The problem I had was that the first bucket got all the nutrients and by the time it reached the last bucket, it was depleted and the plants suffered. Without a running water system, the nutrients won't be thoroughly and equally mixed and delivered throughout. You will notice based on how well the plants do at the far ends. You might need a reservoir before the float that is always mixed with fertilizer to keep them topped off since it's using the Katky Method and water isn't running.

@@plantbasedprepper That makes sense so I will have to wait see once I get this going and how the plants react. There is couple of the things as I am using mostly for seed propagation so I make basically 1/3 perlite, 1/3 peat moss, and 1/3 compost so the plants are getting nutrients from the compost in the that scenario. But for the other mix I would just be using 1/2 perlite and 1/2 peat moss and would require the nutrients. So that drip line waters my raised garden beds every 12 hours and for 20 minutes.. I checked this morning to see how it working and the rails looked filled as the float valve filled them up. The other options is I would make up a 30 gallon trashcan and use a reservoir. Dial the EC and and PH in that reservoir. I got a free diaphragm pump from work and I would hook to the top of the trash can as it got 30 PSI and adjustable. The idea here would be to put a check valve in the system which is feeding the garden beds and now the krakty rails. So I could still use my timer valves as normal but have the 30 gallon trashcan back feed the nutrients through the system either on timer or manual at the beginning. This would work well and add many possibilities for me to to back feed many parts of my garden if it worked.. Hope that makes sense on what I described.. I will get there at some point and test!!

Actually I was on Reddit asking if anyone had any success with that fertilizer injector from Home Depot. But someone gave me an idea just to use a funnel and valve. Anyways I grabbed some parts I had this morning as it sounded interesting as I just got a water bottle and put a grommet and 1/4 in line in the cap and I had some 1/4 valves and just turned it upside down and stuck into one of the cups on the rails. So you can control the drip like an IV. I have there now just to see how long it takes.. Its just a concept for now but I will put up a short vid as it looks like it might have potential.. In part1 or part 2 you said you could change water levels by sticking 1/4" tube higher in the gutter. I believe that this is not true. They will all be at the same water level unless you raise or lower the whole down spout. Raising the tubing in the down spout might be better in case one of the lines come off any down spout. They would all eventually drain no matter which tube came off. Raising the tubing in all down spouts could keep water from completely draining each spout

Yeah it was just a thought at the time but you can definitely tweak the water levels. As you mentioned, if I put all the tubes at the same height in both the reservoir and the downspouts then they'll just balance out. But once you start adjusting the height of the tubes in both the reservoir and also the individual rails, you're going to get a different outcome. The other thing that contributed to this is the self-watering valve would turn on every morning at 15 minutes and feel that center reservoir. But really I never did this. I just watered them as normal and it work great

Something is wrong with the audio of this video.
It's playing a stupid song instead of the narration for the downspout rails.
