    One spring I couldn't get our lawn mower to start. I poured way too much Sea Foam into the gas tank and continued pulling the rope until it finally started. It smoked like crazy but after a hour or so it started/ran great. That was a couple years ago and it still starts with one pull. I think this stuff is great.

    Thanks for sharing the info, I been meaning to do this to my mower, straight to point & even better when it's exactly the same mower I have! 😎 👍 👊 🍻
    Update 8/6/23:
    Just did this to my mower which was surging when idle. I did end up having to take the carb out & forced the intake cleaner jet spray through all the holes, cleaned it out really well. Put it back together & BOOM (no, it didn't explode 😂) no more surge problem. Plus now I'm familiarized with assembly & disassembly of the carb. Thanks again for posting this video! 😎 👍 👊 🍻

    I have been using ethanol free 87 regular gasoline in my toro push mower since the beginning, when I bought the lawn mower in 2011. My lawn mower finally would not stay running after several pulls. I bought seafoam spray and sprayed the carb yesterday. I let it sit for a while then cranked up the engine. engine was shaking very badly with tons of white smoke. I followed the rest of the directions. The engine appeared to smooth out. I'm going to do a tune up before the spring season starts. I'm impressed with this stuff.

    I do all this to my lawn mowers and lawn tractors, but in addition I add one once of the liquid Sea Foam to my crankcase oil (one ounce per quart capacity. That the same ration I use to add sea Foam to my truck's oil crankcase. My 02 Ford Ranger XLT 4.0L runs very quiet for having 173,000 miles. I add little less then 5 fresh quarts of oil on each oil change, then add the 5 ounces of Sea foam. I do this treat on my truck every third oil change, being I'm retired and don't drive much. I still change my oil every four months to avoid moisture in the crankcase oil.

      For the little amount of oil (around 18 oz or so) I'd recommend spending that money on your oil instead of stuff like this. Change it atleast once a season. You are prematurely wearing the internal parts with dirty old oil that has junk in it. IMO your oil changes are more important than this stuff, although the neglect of oil changes you can easily take the cylinder cover off and just use a wire wheel to knock off the carbon.

    After viewing this and a few other videos using Sea Foam Motor Treatment to stop hunting (surging) on lawn mower engines, I decided to give it a try. I'd much rather do this than disassemble the carburetor and clean it! Unable to find the spray, I used only the liquid gas tank additive in my 16-year old Honda GVC160 engine and within a few minutes, it was running smoothly again. Other than changing the spark plug, air filter and oil, this has to be the simplest "repair" I've done. Having had to replace all 4 wheels recently, I'm hoping to get by without buying a new mower anytime soon.

      +punkvader77 For a gasoline truck or auto intake, Sea Foam Spray instructions show that you must increase and hold higher RPM while applying Sea Foam Spray through the intake. Stalling = running at idle or too low. You need to be at least 500 to 1000 RPM over idle spec.

    So when I go to store my mower for the winter should I drown it and leave it or start it after drowning it?

    • @SeaFoamOfficial
      @SeaFoamOfficial  8 лет назад +1

      Thanks for the question. When storing a carburetor 4-stroke mower there are 3 areas to protect: 1) the tank fuel, 2) the carburetor, 3) the cylinder cavity. Run the tank low and add a few ounce of Sea Foam to an almost empty tank, run the engine until you know the Sea Foam is working through the carburetor, shut off and pull the plug when it cools, then shoot a big burst of Sea Foam Spray through the plug hole into the cylinder cavity...Put the plug back in and store (whether you fill the tank is up to you - if so, Sea Foam is an excellent stabilizer because it resists/prevents free radical formation/holds a fuel's flashpoint). Note: Sea Foam and Sea Foam Spray are high-temp petroleum lubricants that are excellent for protecting all fuel system parts during seasonal periods. Will also work to clean by liquefy hydrocarbon residues in chambers, around compression rings. Also revives, nourishes and protects rubbers/polymers (gaskets and seals).

      @@SeaFoamOfficial I went out and purchased both Seafoam products mentioned in your video. The Honda HRS21 seemed too good to turn into scrap, so an investment of $15 seemed like a fair shake, after all, I got the mower as an experiment at no cost.
      I got the mower running for about 2 minutes and then filled it with new gasoline, and poured in about 2 - 3 ounces of Seafoam Engine treatment. Started it again, this time on the first pull, and opened the air cleaner. This time I used the spray exactly as demonstrated. Yes, it shot out the expected white smoke, but calm down immediately. I replace the cover and decided to see if it would improve under a load. The mower quieted down and ran like it just came off the sales floor. Incredible, but not unexpected. The guy at NAPA told me "These products work exactly as advertised", he was right as well.
      Getting brave I decided to try the gasoline treatment in my Husqvarna riding tractor, model P.O.S. The only good thing about this terribly designed mower is the Kohler engine. In fairness, I didn't use the spray into the carb intake, but that's coming. I do think the mower ran more smoothly with the additive. After I try the carb spray we'll know better.

      What you're seeing is the carburetor throat/air intake. You can apply Sea Foam Spray into the throat while running to clean intake valves and chamber areas. Also how you'd fog your intake for storage. Just know that going into the carburetor throat does not clean the carburetor. The carburetor circuits (seats, jets, bowl, nozzles) are cleaned by adding Sea Foam Motor Treatment to the fuel tank.

    Will it be an added benefit to use both the intake and fuel additive together

    • @SeaFoamOfficial
      @SeaFoamOfficial  5 лет назад +2

      Adding to fuel cleans through the carburetor passageways (needle/seat, jets, bowl, nozzle) - in fuel is ALWAYS smart. Spray through through the carburetor goes directly to the intake valves and chamber - something to do 2x per year. Nevertheless, having Sea Foam in fuel is always smart so will lend a little boost when doing a spray cleaning.

    So does pouring into the fuel and spraying into the intake treat different problems? I saw you replied to someone that cleaning the carb is only accomplished by pouring into the fuel.
    I have a loss of power in my mower so I'm trying this stuff. I added some to the fuel a few weeks ago and it's slowly running better but not perfect so maybe I just need to keep adding this to the fuel for a while.

    • @SeaFoamOfficial
      @SeaFoamOfficial  7 лет назад +2

      Hi Eddie: Great question! Yes, adding Sea Foam to the fuel tank works in the gas to pass through ALL of the carburetor passageways (needle/seat, jet, float bowl, nozzle), then into the carburetor throat where the air is drawn through the air filter and into the combustion chamber. Sea Foam Spray goes directly into the carburetor throat with the air flow to clean the intake valves and chamber areas.
      Loss of power is typically related to a gum/varnish obstruction in the carburetor, so adding adding Sea Foam to the tank is your starting point.
      TIP: [1] Add a couple ounces of Sea Foam when the tank is low, [2] then run for 5 minutes to draw the mix into the carburetor, [3] shut off the engine and let everything sit for 2 to 3 days to soak, [4] add fresh fuel, start it up and go from there!

      +Ryan A Hi Ryan - Think about this: You put approx 5 oz of Sea Foam into 2500 oz of fuel (1 to 500 mix ratio). That's far below a realistic cleaning dosage (cleaning is a range of 2 oz per gallon to 50/50 Sea Foam to gasoline mix). You need a much higher concentration to 'move the needle'. Going forward, we're happy to help. Please reply with what engine performance issue you're hoping to overcome and we'll provide a recommendation.
      For what it's worth, have you looked at the condition of your fuel filter (dirty, plugged?) or what's effecting or regulating your fuel pressure?

Used starter fluid. Not even a hint of starting. This mower always started with one or two pulls. BTW my message doesn't show a 16 oz can. I said I had ran a can through in multiple cuttings. Got it running again. Apparently seafoam had dislodged enough gunk to clog the carborator. Sprayed carborator cleaner into intake and cranked the engine with an electric drill to run some air through. Now starting on first pull consistently. Hopefully the seafoam treatment will increase the rpm to get the cutting back to satisfactory.

      Sea Foam works in fuel to dissolve petroleum gum and varnish residues that are constantly developing in carburetors. Yes, meets the definition, anyway. Products that are labeled as 'Carb Cleaners' are typically intended for spraying into carburetor air intake throats or to spray on carburetor parts after disassembly. Sea Foam in fuel cleans the carburetor while the engine is in use.

    QUESTION: My lawn mower went four laps around the yard last year, and then it stopped. I tried a similar type of product, and that very briefly made it run for several minutes when I put it in the gas. That didn't solve the problem, though. I got a new sparkplug and a new filter. That never solved the problem, though. I needed to buy a new mower. Today I bought these two products from Sea Foam, so I'm going to try them on that mower. The problem is, that mower won't start at all. So, how should I use this technique with spraying Sea Foam into the Air Filter area if the mower won't start at all?
    Also, is there any type of cleaning fluid I should put in the oil of this self-propelled push mower of mine?
    I did buy a new carburetor, but the problem is it is not easy to install. It is nothing like the video shown online regarding installation. I just don't have the right parts.

      Hi Michael. Please go to the Sea Foam website and look for a How-To download titled, ..Gummed-Up Carburetor." What you need to do is add Sea Foam to fuel, remove the spark plug, then pull the start rope several times to draw the Sea Foam into the carburetor circuits,... then let it sit & soak.

    • @michaelzoran
      @michaelzoran 2 года назад

      @@SeaFoamOfficial I followed your instructions and the instruction of another video I saw online that successfully used Sea Foam in order to remove carbon buildup. I initially had high hopes, but then I ended up disappointed. I will explain exactly what I did the entire way. Maybe you can recommend something to do next.
      1. I took out the mower that hasn't been used all year. It had no oil in it and no gas in it. The sparkplug also was not attached.
      2. I put the correct amount of oil in it.
      3. I put Sea Foam in it on the gas side, and mixed about the same amount of gas. I knew the primary purpose was to mainly use Sea Foam for cleaning purposes more than gasoline for fuel purposes.
      4. I then poured some of the Sea Foam into the air filter hole area.
      5. I let the mower sit for about 20 minutes.
      6. I then pulled the mower several times in order to help circulate the Sea Foam.
      7. I then set a 40 pound bag of dirt on the handle of the mower and changed the angle of the mower so I could pour some of the Sea Foam into the hole where the sparkplug screws into.
      8. I then let the mower sit for another 20 minutes.
      9. I then pulled mower and saw the Sea Foam shoot out of the sparkplug area. I pulled the mower several times.
      10. I then screwed the sparkplug in.
      11. I tried to star the mower. It did not start and really didn't come close to starting. But, it had a "slight" noise that made me think there was "hope."
      12. I then used a different type of Sea Foam product - the one that has a black lid and is 12oz and has a red straw thing that is a "spray." I sprayed this into the side hole area where the air filter is.
      13. I then tried starting the mower. To my surprise, the mower then slowly and weakly started up and shot the white smoke out the side! ... My hope were very high at that point.
      14. I then sprayed more of this kind of Sea Foam into the side where the air filter hole is.
      15. I then tried starting the mower again. This time the mower started much easier and shot even more white smoke out the side. It remained on for about one minute and I was even able to use the self-propelled wheels in order to take it away from the house - because it was smoking so much from the Sea Foam.
      16. After about one minute, the mower stopped. It was just sitting still. From that point on, I was never able to restart the mower again.
      17. I sprayed more of the Sea Foam into the side area where the air filter is. And I also removed the sparkplug in order to spray this other type of Sea Foam into the area behind the sparkplug. I let it sit for about 20 minutes.
      18. I pulled the mower in order to circulate the Sea Foam.
      19. I let the mower sit for another 20 minutes.
      20. I then reinstalled the sparkplug and tried starting the mower. The mower never came close to starting. And it didn't even have a "hope" of starting. It was clear the mower wasn't going to start.
      21. I repeated spraying in the side and behind the sparkplug several times. But nothing worked. It eventually got dark outside, so I was forced to give up.
      This makes me wonder, "Why would the mower start up and actually move at one point, but after that lose the ability to start?"
      Can you answer that?
      Sea Foam clearly made a difference at one point. It's just that the difference only lasted for about one minute.
      Any help would be appreciated.

    • @michaelzoran
      @michaelzoran 2 года назад +1

      @@SeaFoamOfficial I did as you suggested with the Gummed-Up Carburetor download. I followed the instructions and even allowed the mower to have over 72 hours, as the instructions suggested. It didn't work.
      The best I was able to achieve was using the Sea Foam in the side of the mower in order to get it started, and then repeatedly spraying in the side when the mower each time the mower started to stop. I was able to keep the mower on for about two minutes by doing that. But, the mower eventually stopped.
      Later on, I was able to use Sea Foam to start the mower. After starting the mower I quickly tried allowing the self-propelled mower to drive. I was able to go about 20 or 25 feet before the mower stopped.
      After that, nothing would work. Even by spraying Sea Foam in the side of the mower, the mower simply would not start again.
      I purchased a new carburetor, but replacing it is nothing like what I saw in an online video. The video made it look easy. My mower is literally 90 degrees different, which makes it so the parts do not fit in tiny gaps.
      For the record, I strongly suggest Sea Foam create red straws that fit the bottle better in the future.
      While I was repeatedly spraying the Sea Foam in the side of the mower for those two minutes, the red straw kept coming out. This cased Sea Foam to get on my hands. The bottle was slippery. I needed to wipe my hands on my shirt in order to maintain a grip. I am stunned that this tiny amount of Sea Foam completely stained my shirt and ruined it, and still has the odor of Sea Foam motor fuel after washing the shirt three times.

    QUESTION: In this video, we see the man use a significantly larger "amount" of Seafoam than the "recommended amount" of Seafoam. The man here and in other spots online have said variations of, "You can't use too much Seafoam." Is this true? I ran out of Seafoam and used Gumout in the gasoline part of my push lawn mower. I likely put "too much," which is more than the "recommended dose of "1/2 oz per gallon." Could Gumout have have damaged my push lawn mower? Here is a message I wrote to Gumout tonight, but have not yet received a response. If the staff of Seafoam or someone else could answer, too, please do so.
    QUESTION & CONCERN: Today I put a little bit of this Gumout product in the gasoline part of the lawn mower. I have a push lawn mower from Club Cadet. It takes about four hours to mow the yard. I always need to refill one time - about 75% through the work. The gasoline is always 100% empty when I refill it, because the mower gradually stops and shuts itself off because of a lack of fuel. But, today was different. This has me concerned, because today I used Gumout in the gasoline. I will explain.
    I opened up the gasoline part of the lawn mower when I started out. There was only a little bit of gasoline, so I put in the Gumout. I then filled up with the gasoline. Everything initially seemed okay. But after about an hour, I noticed a problem. There seemed to be a slightly visible form of smoke. But, it was just barely visible and I could not tell where it was coming from. And I wasn't even 100% sure I was seeing "smoke." I just thought it seemed like there "might" be something similar to smoke. That is about the only way I can describe it. The mower continued working, though, so I continued mowing. Can the staff of Gumout or someone else tell me why any form of visible "smoke" would be seen?
    I continued mowing for about another half hour. I then heard the mower gradually start to shut itself off - as if it were out of fuel. The problem with this is, it was FARRRR SOONER than where I normally am when I need to refill the lawn mower with gasoline. This was a BIG concern. There was no doubt the fuel efficiency had been significantly reduced. If the staff of Gumout or someone else can tell me why that would happen, I would appreciate it.
    So, I went to get the gasoline. When I opened up the gasoline container part of the lawn mower, I was surprised to see the gasoline container was NOT "empty." There was a visible amount of gasoline still inside the lawn mower - about the same amount of gasoline as when I first put Gumout into the lawn mower today. Can the staff of Gumout or someone else tell me "why" the lawn mower would now be shutting itself off in what is apparently a "lack of fuel" sort of way, even though there was visibly a decent amount of fuel remaining?
    I then filled up the lawn mower with gasoline. It took SIX tries for the lawn mower to start! I was very concerned, because I thought to myself, "I hope Gumout didn't ruin my lawn mower." This lawn mower always starts on the first pull. After I eventually got the mower started, I continued mowing the yard. I did not expect to need to fill the lawn mower again with gasoline.
    However, prior to finishing the yard, the mower actually DID - for a SECOND TIME - gradually start to make noises as if it were running out of gas, and then stop running. So, for the SECOND TIME, I went and got the gas can. I knew Gumout must be responsible for this, because there has NEVER been a need to refill the lawn mower TWO times over the last three years I have owned this mower. Can the staff of Gumout or someone else tell me if using Gumout lowers the fuel efficiency in some way?
    When I opened up the gasoline part of the lawn mower this time, I was STUNNED when I saw that ONCE AGAIN there was a VISIBLE AMOUNT of gasoline in the mower AGAIN! Normally the mower would not stop itself for a lack of fuel unless there was no gasoline at all. This was the SECOND TIME today that I was seeing a decent amount of gasoline in the container of the lawn mower - about the same amount as when I first put Gumout into the lawn mower today. Can the staff off Gumout or someone else please tell me why the lawn mower is now shutting itself off as if it has no fuel, even though there is clearly a visible amount of gasoline in the lawn mower?
    If I had accidentally put too much Gumout the first time, I could understand this problem happening once. But when I put more fuel into the lawn mower the second time, it would dilute the remaining Gumout in the gasoline container part of the lawn mower in a way that would make it so the problems would be minimized or gone - right?
    Instead, the EXACT same problem occurred. The only difference was that on the "second" time I was able to start the mower with four pulls instead of six. Again, normally I would simply refuel and start on the FIRST pull. Can the staff of Gumout or someone else please tell me why it now takes so many pulls to get the mower to start after using more gasoline now?
    Also, after refueling the second time, I could literally "feel" a form of "heat" from the lawn mower. This has never happened in the past. Is this likely associated with Gumout?
    BOTTOM LINE: The "experience" I had with Gumout today was a negative experience. Things "changed" for the first time in three years, and the "changes" were not positive. I now needed to refuel two times instead of one - which means the fuel efficiency seems to have significantly declined. And each time I needed to refuel, there was a "visible" amount of fuel remaining in the lawn mower. Can the staff of Gumout or someone else please tell me why this would happen? This is the third season this mower is being used. I have never experienced any problems with this mower in the past. If the staff of Gumout or someone else can tell me how to fix this, I would appreciate it.

      I doubt that Gumout will cause any trouble. Suggestion- try this: go buy a 16 oz can of Sea Foam High Mileage and combine a half can with one pint to one quart of fresh fuel, add the combination to an empty mower tank. Run the engine for a few minutes and shut off for at least a couple hours or overnight. Later, start and run the engine/mow your yard... and let us know if it runs better.

      @@SeaFoamOfficial Thank you for responding. The staff of Gumout still never responded to anything. So, I rate Sea Foam far superior to Gumout. Two days ago I mowed the back yard just to try to use up the remaining gas. This time it went all the way to the bottom of the gas tank - with no visible gas remaining. I hope it stays that way. I really have no idea why the engine shut off with so much gas left inside it.
      The engine did seem to once again have a strange odor and feel noticeably hot again, though. So, I will take your advice for using Sea Foam the next time I have the opportunity. I will let you know how it goes.
      Thank you for taking the time to respond. :)

      @@SeaFoamOfficial Just a quick question. When I use something such as Gumout or SeaFoam in the gasoline, and if there was some form of "cleansing" done that caused a material that had built up inside the gas container of the lawn mower to be causing the problem, how would I get rid of that material that likely would remain in the gas tank of the lawn mower? I mean, would I tilt the mower on its side and dump out some gasoline? Another person in a store suggested I take off the air filter and spray something such as Sea Foam into that hole. Is that hole where the solid residue from the gas tank would eventually end up? Or would the residue removed from inside the gas tank as a result of using GumOut or SeaFoam need to be manually dumped on it side some how?

      @@michaelzoran Sea Foam and Gumout are not the same thing. What causes most carburetor problems is gum and varnish buildup in the carburetor circuits. Buildup restricts fuel flow, so the engine loses power. Sea Foam dissolves/liquifies the buildup back into the fluid fuel phase, so it all burns away. Nothing to do. Please respond AFTER you tried the recommendation made previous in this message exchange.

    So why this damn mechanic at my job was bout to have me take the carburetor off piece by piece and clean it all by hand when I can just do this ?

      Either way you're removing varnish from the carburetor circuits.

      So seafoam will clean it without disassembling @seafoam

      @@kevinjohnson8008 There are only a few things that cause most carburetor issues. #1 (overwhelmingly) is fuel varnish that causes stickiness or restrictions in carburetor circuits. Sea Foam works fast to reliquefy the varnish and clear fuel passageways so no need to remove anything. Other issues can be corrosion of aluminum/aluminum alloy parts, worn needle valves, etc. Go to seafoamsales.com and find the HOW2 instructions for "...Clean a Gummed-Up Carburetor, go from there and let us know what happens!
