I know I'm way fucking late replying to this, but ironically enough, this is *still* one of the most balanced games in the series. It's by no means perfect (and I can 100% see why nobody ever goes back to it for competitive play), but compared to a lot of the games that have come along since, it holds up strangely well. Lot of things can be said about Ed Boon & his crew. "Those guys really know how to balance a fighting game" is not one of them.
@Waluigi Number One MKX is pretty seriously unbalanced. Xenomorph/Alien is one of the most broken characters in all three of the new games, and certain characters and their Variations are basically unusable in a competitive setting. MK11 is a hell of a lot more balanced than MKX, but it still has upper tiers that can wipe the floor with lower ones without that much effort. Custom Variations both mitigate and exacerbate that depending on who's playing.
The only thing I found a little weird about 3D era were the weapons sometimes, though, I really loved Quan Chi in Deadly Alliance. My whole family used to play it. They bought so many fighting games for me without me asking and shooters for my brother which explains why he's over there playing Mass Effect and I'm playing MK11.
So interesting to watch... I noticed how effective Bo Rai Cho was against characters like Sonya since he has his puke puddle to "zone"/keep them out since you have to free step and walk to avoid it which wastes time and is a barrier for characters who don't have effective ways to get in or actively play the spacing game with him xD However Scorpion was the perfect answer for that. In that match I noticed alot less puke puddles and alot more careful play since Scorpion has moves like the hellfire move to deal with and punish Bo for staying in place or trying to to attempt a puke too much. That was an interesting switch up!

Hey Check idk if you'd be interested but maybe u can start a series of playing the older games (MKA, MKD, MKDA, MK VS DC) at a competitive level. I'd love to see that and I think that's something the Mortal Kombat community is missing is older games being played at a high level. Idk how u would get the players who are good to play this again but I bet u have connections. Just a thought anyways appreciate these vids bro💪
id love to do that. sadly the old players have destroyed most of my work, (on purpose), so its just left a bad taste in my mouth overall. forced out of mk basically. lied to. stolen from at tournaments, etc.

I'd love to play these older games one day. I plan on buying MKDA, MKA, and MKD. Ik u can get online thru player made servers so I plan on doing it for PS2. Anyways, I'm really sorry about that that really sucks. That'd leave a bad taste in my mouth too but if ur ever think about coming back I think that'd be a cool series to do. Get a couple of ur friends and play the older games at a high level. Have a good one💪
@thuglifeg86 Those 2 fights were my favorite of the night. Gotta love Tom though. After the first Shang vs Quan match, we both turned to each other and just knew to run it back. Its those kind of instincts that you only pick up from years of playing people Offline. So thats why they were my favorite matches of the night. Felt good to play someone whos used to playing people Offline.
Barring MK9, the series as a whole has never really gotten back on its feet after Deception imo. It's fallen off really hard. The last two games have been full-on travesties.
@@VenomousHigh I agree, to a point. I thought MKX was an excellent game, but MK11 was terrible. Overall though, the MK games made by Midway far surpass the ones under WB.
i really enjoyed watching these fights bro. im pretty good in MKDA i wish i could be there at NECXI with ya my shang tsung n quan chi are my best as well as mavado n kenshi. hopefully i can fly out to see you this coming summer. i always like a great challange in MKDA idk why but i just find it really fun to fight on that game. see ya soon bro

Thanks so much for the love on my birthday. It's only this 3D MK game that is good. I consider this game to be the best fighting game ever made. These fights, of course, were the best vs any player of any game i have played. It's a shame the guy i played doesn't play this game anymore. I would of loved to have played more with him after this set.

@@CHECK4900 I certainly have much love for this game, as you do. Of course everyone has their own preferences and reasons for ranking games, I personally consider this the best 3D MK game. It's also my 3rd favorite MK game of all time, only after MK and MKII. I really appreciate the emphasis on fighting mechanics and various, more or less authentic, martial arts being reflected in this game, as opposed to fatalities, stage fatalities, brutalities, and various other finishers. Plus the stages and the characters are so beautiful in this game, certainly the best looking until MKX, and I also like the brighter visuals. Overall, this game is fantastic. I really want to play it again.
@CHECK So I am almost through watching this and I think I only remember one time a throw was used by anybody (I believe it was Quan Chi's throw). I would very much like to hear an explanation of why that was.
They're blockable, punishable, and have no range. Strengths are: Priority, Fast Recovery, Can be made unblockable next to breakable objects. Would love to play again and see how far i've evolved. Maybe you'd see more throws. This video was a long time ago. It was more of a grudge match from Tom Brady saying he would beat me... That didn't happen either. As I've said in the comments for other MKDA videos, I believe this is the most underrated game in the series. It's a brilliant game that was ahead of its time. I recently started re-playing it on my original Xbox and I am having tons of fun with it. I looked into playing it on the Dolphin emulator, with the hopes of playing online against human opponents, but the Wii I have is a newer one and it doesn't play Gamecube games. Would love to see videos of you playing it again though.
I know that as much as anyone else, but getting max damage and maximizing every opportunity is also a basic of competitive play. I'm VERY good at Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat, and this is one of the 1st video games I've ever played.
To begin with. THIS WAS A VERY BAD MK game. No pro player could even make the basic mechanics or combos of this game look good because the hitboxes were awkward from the start.
Kweku Duncan never had any problems with this game at all even when me and my friends held tournaments every year on my birthday and it always worked great

competitive play is not always about fancy combos, its about neutral game and Knowledge
