I'm on the ship now. In the Palace theater, the theme song to Titanic had just started playing (it was a Celine Dion singer show) and suddenly I heard crashing, crashing, as the glasses on the bar slid off. There was a major tilt and I evacuated the theater, climbing up hill, chairs toppling over. A staff member instructed us to walk to one side of the ship (that was tilted up) to balance the weight. I still can't believe the Titanic song had just stated playing. It made it even scarier!

We were on Freedom of the Seas in Oct 2011 when we were hit with 100+ mph winds just outside Port Canaveral. We were just finishing dinner when it hit. The Capt shut the ship down and we had to try and make it back to our cabin without falling over and dodging dinnerware all over the flour. The rain came through our balcony doors so for the next 6 days our floor squished since they replaced other cabins first that really flooded. Good news was we got a free future cruise for our inconvenience.

We are also currently on this cruise. I had just dropped off our kids at the kids club on the 12th floor and noticed the ship listing to the port side on my way down the stairs. I got down to the 7th floor and noticed the list only got worse. I measured a 7 degrees list with my phone and decided to go back up and get the kids, but quickly realized they were surrounded by crew members and continued down to the fifth floor promenade to meet the rest of our family. Down there is where the shops were located with all the tables in the middle that slid to the side as shown in another RUclips video. My wife and 6 year old daughter almost got pinned down by one of the tables but were able to push it up enough to escape. Luckily we are all safe and just a little shook up. Kudos to the crew for keeping us safe and the insanely quick cleanup.

Ignorance was bliss for them. lol. The crew had all the kids go stand against the port side wall, the way it was leaning… our oldest thought it would be fun to lay down on the ground and roll like a log towards them and see how many he could get in his new game of “Kid Bowling”… apparently he got six 🤣

We are on this cruise. It was definitely spooky. Felt like we were going to turn on side. Captain did a good job righting the ship, slowing speed. There were a few injured parties. One person seriously injured enough that we are turned around and heading to Las Palmas, Canaries, arriving tomorrow morning. Return to Miami now delayed three days to Nov 17. There was no damage to the ship, but lots of broken glasses, dishes, messes of food/drink, etc. Fortunately, we were in our stateroom at the time. All passengers were asked to return to rooms so everyone could be accounted for, then the staff was accounted for. All clear to leave rooms given at midnight. We're doing ok, praying for the injured parties, and appreciate the professionalism, training, information, etc. from captain, crew, and staff, and their concern for safety and well-being of everybody.

We were cruising around Alaska. We were headed for 100 mph winds. Our captain turned the ship around and sailed across the Gulf of Alaska to keep us away from the high winds. We missed seeing two ports, but we were safe. A very smart captain!

Was on the cruise ,the captain reported 80 mph wind , 15.3 degree list. I was seated in the theater and the piano took of and crashed with a loud bang as the lights went out for a few seconds as the ship righted herself, 22 were injured, 2 seriously with one burned from hot oil in the galley. The ship turned around and returned to the Canary Islands 1 and 1/2 days away for treatment of the mist seriously injured.

I'm also on the cruise. I was onstage for the Higher or Lower game in the Star Lounge next to the Promenade, and I felt my chair start to roll. I made a joke of it, exaggeratedly leaning back and digging my legs in in the opposite direction to stop myself. Good job I did. Seconds later, my opponent slid away as glasses and bottles smashed at the bar. I was somewhat stopped thanks to my weird sitting position. Quite a few people ran out, maybe not a great move in hindsight as it seemed worse outside. Weirdly, despite having Severe Anxiety Disorder, I've been pretty calm through it all. We finished the game show, did a karaoke competition and returned to our stateroom via some sandwiches and pizza at Cafe Promenade (guessing the dining room staff had enough to deal with). Upon our return, Captain Frank told us to stay where we were.

@@TipsForCruisers It was, but I think the entire staff did amazingly in the circumstances. I have become quite close to a number of them, and they're really shaken up. I hope the guests go easy on them. It's no-ones fault. Certainly not there's. Our stateroom attendant worked more than 5 hours over her shift to help last night. When I saw her this morning, she just looked exhausted. I told her to leave my room (it was the absolute least I could do) and offered to grab her food. She declined the food, but wept with the other offer. I feel so bad for them.

We are on this cruise. We were at dinner. Everything on the table slid off onto the floor except the wine, which we grabbed. We have priorities. Several tables and serving carts fell over, and a couple of passengers were tipped out of their chairs (not hurt though). It took them around 45 minutes to clean up the dining room and (I presume) the galley before they finished serving dinner. That was impressive! About an hour after we finished dinner we had to go back to our staterooms for 3 hours, then when they let us out at midnight we went down to the pub and spent 2 hours listening to Sean (great pub singer, BTW) who played long after the pub closed. We are currently headed back to the Canary Islands to unload the injured (my understanding is there was one serious injury) and restock supplies after which we will continue to Miami, arriving 3 days late. It sounds like around 20% of the passengers will be leaving the ship there.
The crew was outstanding through all this. I am so impressed.

US Navy, yup. A few times. Once on a Carrier, the USS Midway got into very bad weather and heavy seas. A hatch to the outside wasn’t secured properly and an entire berthing space was flooded in seconds.
Anytime we went into heavy weather the word was passed to secure “gear adrift” because it was a hazard.
On a cruise ship years ago LA-Hawaii got into seas so heavy it took paint off the bow. That was fun

I’m currently on this cruise right now, it’s was the scariest thing I’ve ever encountered. I was in the dining room on deck 3 and the ship just listed for what seemed about 2/3 minutes. Even on deck 3 the angle of lean felt very dramatic so the higher decks it would’ve been worse. I said at the time “we’re tipping over” but thankfully the captain was able to stable the ship. The sound of plates smashing, people screaming was absolutely terrifying. Literally cutlery, food and service trollies strewn everywhere!
Just after midnight ship’s time we were allowed out of our cabins again.
This morning we have been told a passenger needs urgent medical attention so have turned back to Las Palms and now arrive there the morning of 9th November. This now means we’ll arrive in Miami on Sunday 17th November! Personally this means to me I miss my internal flight to Orlando as I had 5 nights in Orlando to do Universal Studios etc. Hotel is paid for 5 nights which isn’t refundable either!
All in all it’s been horrendous and still is!! 😢

I was on the ship, there’s a lot that’s not being said. There are many many rumors floating around regarding the injuries. There was many passengers and crew in the hospital being attended. A lot of blood. Injuries from falls, to falling furniture casino and gaming equipment. Personally we were fine but the delay was causing us to miss a wedding. At our own expense we flew back to the US. No help from RCL. Upon being on the plane I sat next to another passenger who was in a cast from the fall. The cruise covered his expenses to leave.

Have you experienced anything like that ? Yes as a matter of fact I have just last night. Lol😂 we had 2 FB groups cruise specific. One of the Admins called Captain Frank “Captain Mickey Mouse” several of us got banned from his group because we called him out. The Captain handled the recovery excellent. Gusted to max in less than 6 minutes he slowed down and turned towards the wind. Pretty sure as a former Coast Guard officer I can recognized a 40 year career Captain .

It sure was unsettling for a bit. I was in the theater waiting for the show to start and was like um I am still leaning left.... did I go right....I don't think I went back right...wow think I am still going left and haven't gone right. It was only after hearing the crashing of bottles and behind the curtain commotion that I was scared and then relaxed as the person behind us said to stay put and it will be okay. We are heading back to the Canary Islands to drop off an injured passenger and now getting back on the 17th
The crew was great, they had a drill in the morning and I think that helped with taking care of things during the night.

We are on the ship too, crew have been great, but Royal Caribbean handling of Customer rebooking etc is atrocious, they could not be less interested, we will miss our next cruise on Radiance from Tampa as we are now 3 days late, they refuse to rebook us on a suitable alternative as they claim they have not been informed by the Captain that there will be any delay their level of communication between head office and ship is disgraceful and Nikola at Guest Services had a terrible attitude, unfriendly and unhelpful. Royal Caribbean are expecting passengers to pay for the extra 3 days of drinks package or internet, and apart from covering a specified amount for flight changes they are not offering any compensation what a poor show indeed, they have gone down in our estimation dramatically.
