  • Hi all! In this video I review and compare two pairs of women's snowboarding boots: the Kinsley boot by K2 and the Karmyn boot by Ride. I compare the fit, pros and cons, and my initial reactions as well as how my opinions changed after wearing both pairs of snowboarding boots over the course of a few days.
Ultimately both boots are great choices, but one may be better than the other depending on what you are looking for. I go into more detail in the video, and explain how I could tell if the fit was correct or not - something that is way to easy to get wrong!
Let me know if you have any questions, or if you have tried out either of these snowboarding boots from K2 and Ride, and what you think of them. Also let me know in the comments if you know of any other women's snowboarding boots that you love!
    Have a great season!

Great review and comparison. I also just bought those same Karmyn boots - excited to test them out on the mountain this weekend. Would love to see a video review of your board in the future

Same situation with me, my boots were too big and I’ve been riding with them for years and just didn’t realize that my heel shouldn’t be lifting like that. Just bought the k2 kinsley’s! they were the only ones in my size at the store and I didn’t feel like driving all over the place to find more boots so I just got them. I haven’t ridden with them yet but I hope I end up loving them

From talking to friends it sounds like we all wear boots that are too big the first time around, haha! I'm so excited for you and your new boots!! I hope you get a chance to wear them soon and that you love them! I bet they'll be super comfy :)

Oh no! That's always my concern with boas but my fingers get so cold that I don't want to mess with laces, haha. Did you end up getting a new pair?

Hi Elsie, great question! The short answer is that I think both options are true to size. Here is the long answer: I ended up returning the K2 boots and kept the Ride boots. I've worn the Ride boots for a full season and would say they are comfortable and true to size, but the lining will compact a bit over time so now I have to tighten my boots more than I did at first. I wear a size 9 and in the past I have worn boots that were slightly too big - that was annoying because I had less control on my board. However, I also once rented boots that were a half size too small and wore them for a weekend trip and that was a HUGE mistake because I injured my toes and didn't fully recover for almost a year. You will definitely want your boots to be snug but not too tight. It's good if your toe touches the front of the boot while standing, but pulls back from the front of the boot just a little once you squat down. But if your toes are crunched at the front of the boot that is too tight and could cause discomfort and injury. I'm not a doctor, just speaking from my personal experience :) I did't wear the K2 boots for a full season so I am not as confident in speaking about how those last, but they started out softer and more flexible than the Ride boots so I suspect they would be even softer and more flexible after some use. That is why I returned them: I wanted a harder and stiffer boot so that I could control my board more. If I was learning to snowboard for the very first time I might have preferred the K2 boot for comfort, and because when learning for the first time having more exact control isn't as important, haha. Whatever you decide to try, I would say to check the return policy for the store you purchase the boots from so that you can easily return them if the fit doesn't feel right! Good luck finding a boot you love, and let me know if you have any more questions! :)

Yeah, women have longer calf muscles, they go further down than with men, that's why men's boot can hurt women's calves.
