I'm 23 now, I have a 2 year old daughter, developed a dad bod and dad responsibilities so my days of spending 8 hours in the local is behind me, not to mention a blown out knee so I cant skate stairs or big gaps. I got to a point where I was kinda over progressing and was happy enough with the small bag of tricks I had. After seeing Ben progress constantly it's got me learning new stuff every time I go out. Maybe il learn noseblunts at 40 too
@Che Garcia 25 2 kids here just started skating again I just take my 2 year old outside with me and we go hard in the little space I have in my garage , and he loves watchin or riding with me on the board .
I loved seeing your progression, it almost exactly mirrored what I went through trying banked rails yesterday. The initial bails of fear where it feels like you're gonna die jumping on it, then when you actually commit, it's not so bad. Conquering your mind and trusting your capabilities is always the hard part. Also I'm totally building a ledge thanks to this. Thanks for the skate carpentry lesson, Ben!
Ben your videos are pure gold man. Not many other channels where I'm going back into the older stuff for more. Helping me get thru winter over here across the lake! Definitely gonna build a ledge come springtime
Although I haven’t watched this video yet I would just like to say that I absolutely love this channel. Yes, Ben do more DIY videos. Have a wonderful day my friend.
"38 probably coming to a close.". Nah. I'm 47, and still feel like I'm 14 when I skate, and still progressing, so you got a lot of years to go. You're so much better than I am, and your technical skill and knowledge is awesome. You'll be progressing and learning until you're 98, and beyond.
Very nice and quick build! Just a Tiny bit of flex in the middle between your blocks. Can Remember when I was younger I built a 2x4 frame and placed a huge industrial steel freezer lid on top! No wax required Haha. Have a good Weekend Eh !
Probably that moron who got all bent out of shape in the comment section on one of Ben's recent videos. It's the internet, so you're gonna get haters no matter how good your output is unfortunately.
Nice job, I think people have a hard time with blunts because even if it's a super waxed surface you will find yourself still sticking as well as slipping out . It's just finding that in-between point of being light on your board yet powerful with your movements. Good video 👍 👌
Ben thanks for the motivation! For the my love of skateboarding just built my own ledge/Manny pad/blunt and slide ledge! With a basket ball court nearby cheers to progressing for this 37 year old skater dad of 2 lol. We thank you and have a rad day from Melbourne. Ps all made with scrap left of my outdoor kitchen company :) used structural form board for the blunt section 🐨✌🏽
That title and thumbnail text is so good. "Build it and they will come" got me laughing. Love the channel Ben. Long time viewer, first time commenting. Im 36, so you're saying I've got a few years to learn nose blunts? Lol. Not likely, but maybe on this ledge. Greetings from Van Island.
You should put some slots on the bases and some bars under the ledge to lock it in place. Holes and some thick dowels would be good too. Love the content Ben and learned a tooooon from you. I never miss an upload.
Ben I just got the new tensor mag light atg’s and they grind better than any other truck. Their bushings are not very good and their turn radius is like not very good but with indys bushings, you can get thunder response with Indy carving. Their wheel base is a thunders so I hope you’ll review them soon. Btw, yet another entertaining video to wake up to.👍 another thing to add, their base plate is pushed out more so it’s easier to do nose slides and tail slides.
I'm skating some right now. Great truck all around but I've noticed compared to other trucks that they tend to slip out a little more if your not careful with certain grinds. Like they can grind a little TOO well to where theres no friction to keep you more stable if that makes sense. Love the truck just takes some getting used to how they grind.
Been leaning so many ledge tricks too. Tricks that i thought I'd never learn, although they're quite easy compared to blunt slides. I know exactly what it feels like to land and get consistent with them. Seriously I really love your content. Keep it up, Ben!!
Thanks for the great idea Ben. Going to have some composite Modwood left over on a deck I'm building atm. Great timing with the vid!. Been looking for something lately to relearn board slides on. Looks like it even holds up on grinds. Might hold of on the wax at first to see how it goes. Have a Santa Cruz Everslick too so could be a sketchy combination at first. lol.
You did a great job building this ledge man! Will be building one for my garage to use the winter! Great idea and great video! What's everyone's best build they have completed !?
Great video content although I'm a rollerblader but I try skateboarding over 9 years and back to rollerblade, looking forward to your videos because I never get bored. 👍👍👍 Greetings from the Philippines 🇵🇭🇵🇭 🇵🇭
I replaced my decking this summer. I used a plastic composite from Lowe's. 21 bucks or so, us dollars, for 18 foot boards. I've used the left overs to build some interesting skateboard features for my driveway. The stuff is amazing for slides 🤙🏼
Definitely want more DIY skate builds. Also, side note I was watching some of your original videos and you have progressed like crazy. Gives me hope for someone trying to skate more after around 10 years off the board. My son kind of dragged me back in and I'm hooked haha
Your vids are awesome. I've been wanting to learn noseblunts forever. Recently redesigned my box to learn em. Made it adjustable to 2 different heights, one side has angle iron and the other is trex. Haven't grown the balls to really start trying em yet tho
I used to be able to do noseblunts on a box at the local park growing up. The box/whole park was made out of metal metal and metal coated with a rubbery/plasticy material(skate wave parks). I guess it makes sense the box worked for noseblunts then. That was forever ago at this point, would be sweet to get them back after my right ankle is feeling strong again.
So dope! I’ve been thinking about using that material, the cheaper plasticy stuff specifically, and have been wondering how it’d hold up to grinding on. I saw a diy ledge at my local park that someone left there, but it was too tall for me to mess with.
I watched the entire video lol. All the way til you said "wow this has gotta be 20 mins" ect. I like how you finally covered if it was or should be fastened to the blocks or not, good noseblunts too bud. Definitely dug the video!
I just yelled and cheered for you in my apartment when I saw you roll away with that last one! I'm going to work up the balls to try them during my next session!
Hi ben, I did find this useful as im also an apprentice carpenter and this style of DIY videos makes me feel good about my job and how I can apply it to my favourite thing which is skating the more skilled i become at the trade, so thanks for that. I would like to see more like this for sure.
ben: “snap a couple linee-poos” “not the type of linee-poos some skateboarders are used to, dont so that stuff it’s bad” coworker: “i did a linee-poo this morning” 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Pro skateboarders in 2019 are goddamn super humans and modern skate videos don't inspire me anymore, old guys learning new tricks do. Keep that content going Ben!
Going to canada next month.. what skateparks do you go to? I know canada is large but it would be a good jump off point for park research. Thanks dude!
Vancouver Carpenter looks a lot like you, Ben. Are you guys related by any chance?
"Welcome to Vancouver Crapenter" 😂😂

@Che Garcia 25 2 kids here just started skating again I just take my 2 year old outside with me and we go hard in the little space I have in my garage , and he loves watchin or riding with me on the board .
A mix of my two favorite things, skating and construction, perfect. That nose blunt was clean as a whistle, pretty awesome. 👊👊💪💪
🙂
man 38 years old, working as a carpenter, and fathering kids! WHILE doing noseblunts! Man you are a legend.
I loved seeing your progression, it almost exactly mirrored what I went through trying banked rails yesterday. Conquering your mind and trusting your capabilities is always the hard part. Also I'm totally building a ledge thanks to this. Thanks for the skate carpentry lesson, Ben!
Wait. Wtf youre here? Haha
🙌🙂
holy shit you're uploading again
Love your kit at the end Benji 👌
Ben your videos are pure gold man. Not many other channels where I'm going back into the older stuff for more. Helping me get thru winter over here across the lake! Definitely gonna build a ledge come springtime
Although I haven’t watched this video yet I would just like to say that I absolutely love this channel. Yes, Ben do more DIY videos.
Have a wonderful day my friend.
Warren Leeds turns out vancouver carpenter is his woodworking channel lol
This dude fucking sucks bro you are crazy, all this dude does is measure skateboards and tyres his best to give a good awful review on everything
Justin McNeil don’t watch the videos and fuck off
I watch you because i am even 7 years your senior and just started recently. Find your video's soothing and interesting....thumbs up.

There's something satisfying in watching you build a skate obstacle, in the same manner that it is soothing to watch Bob Ross paint.
Best crossover ever.
Very rad!! I want one, the pinch is alive and well!!
🙌
Excellent video man!! Really the good for the old head to be honest. A good project indeed. Blinding skating!! Respect!!
WHO THE FRICK DISLIKES THIS
great vid Ben
It's an obvious hater. Can you imagine being so petty as to subscribe to someone just to thumbs down their video when it comes out😂
Probably that moron who got all bent out of shape in the comment section on one of Ben's recent videos. It's the internet, so you're gonna get haters no matter how good your output is unfortunately.
Anti wax Nazis...
Also, I had to replace all the drywall in my living room and can’t thank you enough for your Vancouver Carpenter channel. Keep up all the good work!
The last seconds..... 😀😀😀 Always great humor.
Great videos. dude is too ahead of his time. When I was younger and skateboarding was my life, I would’ve binged these
Nice job, I think people have a hard time with blunts because even if it's a super waxed surface you will find yourself still sticking as well as slipping out . It's just finding that in-between point of being light on your board yet powerful with your movements. Good video 👍 👌
Honestly the best real skater channel 😃 I 🧡 the different decks and setups 🛹🕴🏻
Dude I got super hyped watching you *dial* that trick in !! Looks like you already knew what to work out !! Great video and skating !!
Ben thanks for the motivation! For the my love of skateboarding just built my own ledge/Manny pad/blunt and slide ledge! Mixing 2 of my favorite things! Wood working and skating! Plus love the Mr. Roger's/Bob Ross feeling this vid has!!! Happy little nose blunts!
i gotta say this man. for skating at 38, you kick ass take names! keep it up!
You should put some slots on the bases and some bars under the ledge to lock it in place. Holes and some thick dowels would be good too. Love the content Ben and learned a tooooon from you. I never miss an upload.
Almost 18 minutes long? What a treat! Thanks as always, Ben 😄👍
Hi Tom!!!
Great carpentering and DIY tutorial video. I know you since you got 22k subscribers and I am glad to see you achieved 30k meanwhile.
Wow. Great! Building for skating! - i would love to see other ppl try it!

You're my favorite skater on youtube! And I'm loving these videos about building skate stuff
awesome build!

Great build. Going to see what I can come up with.
🙂
Very proper noseblunt Ben👌
You did a great job building this ledge man! Will be building one for my garage to use the winter! Great idea and great video! What's everyone's best build they have completed !?
kingofthedeepsea Recently built a Ditch spot! Made a video about it as well, diy is the way to go! 🤘
Great video content although I'm a rollerblader but I try skateboarding over 9 years and back to rollerblade, looking forward to your videos because I never get bored. 👍👍👍
Greetings from the Philippines 🇵🇭🇵🇭 🇵🇭
Yes please, more DIY stuff!
Ryne F. Right?! Probably my favorite video by Ben yet 🤘 I also have some DIY skate videos need to try using wood more though.
🙂👍
The moment you realize your favorite Skateboarding RUclipsr has an even more successful Carpentry RUclips channel. Ben you are a rock star!
Wow, thanks!

"Line-ie poop"...
I think Ben used to rage, once upon a time.
Got me hyped, I'll try it in my next Session for sure!!
Definitely want more DIY skate builds. Also, side note I was watching some of your original videos and you have progressed like crazy. Gives me hope for someone trying to skate more after around 10 years off the board. My son kind of dragged me back in and I'm hooked haha
Nic V i get back on board last summer after 15y off... now i remember how addictive skateboarding is...
Same!! I also make some DIY skate videos but not at this professional level!
Awesome!
Your vids are awesome. I've been wanting to learn noseblunts forever. Recently redesigned my box to learn em. Made it adjustable to 2 different heights, one side has angle iron and the other is trex. Haven't grown the balls to really start trying em yet tho
Trex is a great choice. I've built many decks with it but always wanted to try and grind it.
Been binging your videos lately bro. Love the content!
I'm still working on getting balance back. A 15 year hiatus kinda messes your skating up...
i like to pick it up every 3 years. keeps me nice and crappy eternally.
@@zhou_sei 😂
I'm in the same boat man lol.
I used to be able to do noseblunts on a box at the local park growing up. The box/whole park was made out of metal metal and metal coated with a rubbery/plasticy material(skate wave parks). Nice cat in the background.
thanks for the hint on this ledge, great for home ledge.
definitely need more DIY for sure!
Nice man. on point...Stopped that noseblunt
You make such great, entertaining, wholesome videos. Thanks, Ben!
More of these. Killed it
When Ben lands a trick, he lands it CLEAN.
Love this type of video! Keep it up Ben!
Best skate channel on youtube
Also 38yrs old and the thought of relearning nose blunts makes my hip hurt...! LoL
Stoked on yours tho! It was definitely proper...
always entertaining. Thanks Ben
So dope! I’ve been thinking about using that material, the cheaper plasticy stuff specifically, and have been wondering how it’d hold up to grinding on. I saw a diy ledge at my local park that someone left there, but it was too tall for me to mess with.
Maybe some rubber material under the base will add some grip and prevent it from moving around. Great video as always.
Keep them videos coming Ben ! 👍🏻
I luv the front blunt scardies
Man..I felt that success when you first landed one. nice!
That was clean 🔥
I watched the entire video lol. All the way til you said "wow this has gotta be 20 mins" ect. I like how you finally covered if it was or should be fastened to the blocks or not, good noseblunts too bud. Definitely dug the video!
Keep up the good work ben!! You crush it 🤘🏻
I just yelled and cheered for you in my apartment when I saw you roll away with that last one! I'm going to work up the balls to try them during my next session!
Great video! Winter is coming and I just wish I could find a place to rent with a big garage to skate
i learned to power nose blunt b4 landing a actual nose blunt!!!! You nailed it bluntly
Release Vancouver Carpenter merch asap! 💪🏼😂 Good stuff boss!!
Ben you're killing it mate
Hi ben, I did find this useful as im also an apprentice carpenter and this style of DIY videos makes me feel good about my job and how I can apply it to my favourite thing which is skating the more skilled i become at the trade, so thanks for that. I would like to see more like this for sure.
👍
Good shit , it's funny how you just need that one good commit to get over the fear.
Man skating is so mental bro. I feel like Prof. Xavier 🧠♿
Love your channel Ben! And everything you do 😎👍
Box looks legit fun
Really amazing part!
Watching your vids make me want to skate
I love your arm position when u slide.

i love the videos where u build ledges!
Idk y but his style is shown so much here and I love it 🤙
I know I’m late to the party, but props. These always scared me to death lol.
You’re a gee dang canadian legend
Brilliant vid. More self built videos then skate them please.
ben:
“snap a couple linee-poos” “not the type of linee-poos some skateboarders are used to, dont so that stuff it’s bad”
coworker:
“i did a linee-poo this morning”
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
please film a part your style is so good
These type of project videos are weirdly satisfying to watch XD Btw I watched the whole thing at 1.5 speed so you're good man, length didn't bother me
All it took was one vid and your character to have me sub, fellow ledge lover by the way😁
nice bro! what shoes are you wearing lookin fly
Awesome ledge BEN - also subbed to the Vancouver Carpenter, whoever that is 👀 🔨
Pro skateboarders in 2019 are goddamn super humans and modern skate videos don't inspire me anymore, old guys learning new tricks do. Keep that content going Ben!
Thanks for the video
Going to canada next month.. what skateparks do you go to? I know canada is large but it would be a good jump off point for park research. Thanks dude!
sweet uploads Ben!
I came for the noseblunts but stayed for the last minutes of rambling
Hi again from Sydney Australia, that was funny and edge-o-cational lol
Some one needs to make a t-shirt with you doing the blunt
I love your videos bro keep it up
