My Adventurous Day 🙄 Searching For A Shipwreck At Sunset Beach North Carolina

- Today I am searching for a old shipwreck at Sunset Beach. Over 20 years ago a shrimp boat run aground on Bird Island on the far western end of Sunset Beach. At low tide it has been told you can see the wreckage. Today we are going to see if that is true.

Crazy you cannot fish for flounder?! The beach with the pact sand reminds me of Kiawah. Huge beach. That’s good they have a life ring just there. Good thinking.those sand dunes are huge. Glad to know they are saving the turtle. Wow it all covered up! Yikes lol
I am estimating the walk to the jetty is close to 2miles give or take. It was kind of a buzz kill to only see a small 2 ft piece of the ship wreck. Oh well I tried.😂 Thanks for watching my dude!

That's the beach I've went to my whole life they use to have a swing out bridge then they built the new big bridge to go over to sunset Beach it was the oldest working bridge before they took it away
Hey Jason. I attended a wedding in the mid 90’s at Sunset Beach. I thought I remembered driving across an old swing out bridge. Thanks for confirming that bit of history. Thanks for watching my friend!

Do you think the tide pools result for same reason Sunset Beach is gaining sand rather than losing, like all other beaches?
I am not sure. I don’t know a lot about Sunset Beach. I do know they have what is called a living shore line which helps protect the community from flooding. Maybe the geographical shape of the beach helps out with beach erosion. That is only my guess. Maybe someone who lives in the area will chime in if they see this comment.🤔
