Im pretty new to the boating stuff ramp launched, but never beached launched, but couldn't they unhook the trailer push the trailer out? Get the boat on the trailer, then just hook the trailer up with a long ass rope or strap, n pull it out to where its close enough to shore to back the car up to the trailer to hook it back up? Aslong as it has one of those tyres on the front of the trailer
It's the golden rule not to trailer your boar on a pushing tide..you should have a vehicle with a winch on so when you beach the boat you load the trailer and then with the boat on...😊😊
I have found a way that works for me on the beach. Bring the boat to the shore, back the trailer up, hook up the winch and snug the boat up to the trailer and then use the car to reverse the boat out to just deep enough and winch in more. It keeps the boat lined up on the centre of the trailer and under control. Also the car goes only just far enough in to get the job done and is in the water for less time. With two people one holds the boat and the driver does the winch..
Bang on Lewis 👍 Exactly how it should be done. While you get the car you can also drop the skeg on the motor into the sand so the back doesn't swing around. You can even do it solo this way.
There's a lot of reasons. There 1. managed to do it without getting stuck. 2. Most the people were having there own issues if you look at all the abandoned boats on the shore in the background. 3 the way they were doing it was dangerous to anyone who tries to help. 4. It's a common occurrence for people to go out when they shouldn't have due to the experience level. 5 most people weren't wearing swimming gear. In my own experience people will willingly help when asked. Also I previously suffered a severe back injury helping someone in just such a situation, that greatly impacted my abilities work as a self employed fisherman. It took 15 years of 24-7 pain, at least now I don't have the pain but limited in what I can physically do. No insurance no comeback massive financial Impact to my career. So once bitten I don't just jump into every situation.
Ye Peter take your points Also from memory I went to help someone once and slipped on the slimy stuff at the ramp and landed fair on my backside wasn’t good on my back either and guess what the boatie I assisted didn’t even say thanks. I just get frustrated on how some owners load and unload their boats but bottom line you’re right.
That's one way to destroy the resale of your V8 Cruiser. I have successfully retrieved a 1,500kg boat at Cervantes with a 2008 BMW X5 and snatch strap.
It’s easy putting the boat in with no wind or swell , but once the wind and swell picks up it’s difficult with even a little tinny by yourself and the trailer in the water, all part of the adventure, few beers doesn’t help either
It was very painful to watch, some people just want to do it like they do on the concrete ramp ! They were lucky to get away with it, could have ended badly for the 4wd.
Hard to watch isn't it. No sure weather people don't realise how bad salt water is for 4wd or they don't keep them for long so it's the next persons problem?
For a few reasons, I often do help. That day there were other people everywhere, I was not dressed for a swim. But mostly that was dangerous and I already have a life long back injury from helping someone getting their boat out of the water.
All the gear and no idea on holiday haha, a boat that small they should of beached then backed the trailer underneath and winched. Morons that shouldn't have a boat.
At the very least you would want a extended drawbar and a drive on trailer

That's still dangerous in a swell, everyone else brought the boat into the beach and winched on from there.

I don't know what they were thinking, that could have gone so much more wrong they got very lucky that day.
I saw this 9 months ago no way😂😂
Wow what an expensive retrieve
Lancelin is such a beautiful place if I found a job there I'll go live and die there live a stress free life.❤
I have to say its been great living here. The beach so close and you can always find a spot all to yourself
It’s a wonder somebody didn’t get hurt.

What beers don't help. 😂
Wish they did 😂
Jeez watch how it’s done in S.A. get a break neck trailer run the boat on the beach, get motor beach kits. This is painful to watch

Just doesn’t seem worth it
Have to agree, but could have been so much simpler 🤷
All the gear and no idea, I’m surprised the bloke on the trailer wasn’t injured the way old mate was stuffing around in the cruiser 😮
Ppl and boat ramps, watch , learn , laugh. Not in that order.👍🦘🇦🇺
