I rebuilt several Rochester 2-barrel carbs as a teen. I was blowing one of the jets dry from my 1969 Firebird's carb. and shot it out of my hand. Of course, it disappeared in the grass. 30 minutes later after crawling around in the grass, I found it and resumed the carb. rebuild.
That jar is a indicator for how much dust that is being collected, so you won't forget to clean that oil bath reservoir and put in new oil. (Out of site, out of mind.) Kind of like the oil distick, if you don't check the oil, you are asking for trouble. I drove caterpillar tractors, motorgraders etc. for years that had that jar. That's all it's for is an indicator.
Yeah I get it but all the later model tractors as I said my Ford 4000 never had the jar from the factory but it does have the same kind of oil bath oil filter
Nice job .Did you check the tank for dirt in the gas..You never cease to amaze me .Is there anything you can't fix.??? Love the video.. Thank you Jerry.. God bless❤️🙏🌹
The tank was 100% perfectly fine the dirt that you see was all coming out of the carburetor all of the fuel in the tank and in the float bowl was perfect
@@RosaStringWorks Sorry I wasn't thinking, after all I am a retired OTR Trucker, off road fuel is red, I was thinking rust. Grew up on the farm you'd think I'd know better!
Run without an air cleaner long term. More likely dusted the engine and due for an overhaul. It would appear that you got blessed. Sometimes a good blessing is better than anything.
As I said on the screen in the comment it is not my tractor I did not run it that way I was fixing it for my son who borrowed the tractor from his father-in-law
Good going. I "think" it is an 8N. My two tractors have a rubber duck bill that serves whatever the jar is for. Once in a few whiles one can pinch the duck bill to dump larger debris. Really seems to do little.
Great job Jerry. You got her done!!!
“Click” - I thought I was watching Rainman Ray’s channel there for a second 😀
The man of many talents strikes again! Great job! I'm sure the owner will appreciate your effort!

Great job with it. It runs and sounds great. Many thumbs up.

I'm surprised you didn't flush all that old fuel tank out to get rid of what appeared to be rust! Otherwise a great job!!!

As I understand it, the jar not only filters the initial air but also keeps the main air filter cleaner.
Nice job Jerry 👍🏻👍🏻
32:00 As they say... "Everything's a hammer"!!!
Hmmmm…. The centrifugal separator and jar catcher will work better if the jar to housing joint is sealed. A wrap of duct tape might help.
Jerry I can’t believe you didn’t check out that rusty fuel coming from the tank?
The tankwas completely clean the rust you're seeing came out of the carburetor and it's not rust it's dirt
Change the gas filter as well.
Bottle and Duct tape Easy fix. Now that’s fixin.
What fluid do you use in your sonic cleaner. Solvent?
Clean the gas tank?
That's an 8n😊
