If only Elektron would add an attack control, I would buy both of these back. You can use the LFO, but that takes your sole LFO. I sold these for the Digitakt and Digitone, but I miss the ease and portability of these. I feel like a firmware update for both with attack control and a few more engines for the Cycles would really make these shine.
The Cycles is the one u should find & buy again now cheaply 2nd hand... The Digitakt makes a easy choice to upgrade & replace the Model Samples from... But the combination of the Cycles & Digitone are well worth pairing to work on patterns with each other imo... U can make very similar Elektron based sounds & material, that the Syntakt produces in a single groovebox device & product... That otherwise is very similar for producing with a pair of some other Elektrons too... The Digitone is really well suited to pair with Cycles or Rytm's for working in combo on patterns together for material imo?... I have given my Cycles to the other guy I produce with now, but only since I also had acquired a Rytm mk1 & more so the Syntakt too... That's the true upgrade of Cycles machines & replacement of it in my set-up & Elektron devices. But until u make the choice & addition of the expense for a Syntakt &/or Rytm, the cheaper product with some otherwise very slick, & quick fm drum synthesis & the extra drum box, tracks & Elektron pattern sequencer features of a Cycles... Is hard to beat a better drum too, for being the drum box to compliment the Digitone fm synthesis & groovebox.
The Model:Cycles is the most underated piece of hardware gear on the market since it came out, and to this day. It was such an unlock for me I created a 12 song album made exclusively on the Model:Cycles. I'll never get rid of it… and I have 2 of them lol. I have the Digitone and Syntakt, and there's something special about the Cycles that the other two just don't have. They're all great, but it has some special sauce I don't quite understand.
Very cool concept album! Can you comment on your experience with the Model:Cycles controlling external gear and your experience of pros/cons with its sequencer?
I own both of these as well and really enjoy them both especially connected together. I agree with comments below, I sure wish there was attack control. Yeah you can kinda do it with the LFO, but it's not quite the same. What I really enjoy about these machines is they are very tactile. Just loads of fun to play. I'd probably just love the digitakt or digitone, but I kinda have my heart set on the Octatrack and playing saxophone straight into the machine and cutting up the samples instead of making pre-made samples on a DAW and loading them onto the MS. But yeah Elektron, surprise us this holiday season with an update. That would rock. Great video! I enjoyed it....
I dig Elektron gear. An update to the cycles would be amazing. Especially if they added a new machine or two. I wish I could physically input my own chords in the chord machine. And multiple mute modes (like the Digi) would be super useful IMO. 😬🤘🏻
I love the cycles! Considering a Digitone, but wondering if Elektron is going to create a brand new FM synth anytime soon (wink) 🙂either way, love the feel of the cycles
Model:Analog might be the product to attract masses to Elektron workflow. Elektron sequencer is second to none, and marriage of analog sound with that sequencer at affordable price point would be irresistible to many.
I really hope that this video is some kind of update teaser. I really love the M:C, and I've heard a lot of awesome tracks made on it, but for me it's still a bit hard to use because it lacks some features that are already present on all of the other Elektron devices (i. e. melodic scales).
These comments man… perhaps an update is on the way in the near future 🤞🏻

I agree that Elektron should at least consider adding an attack control, or if that proves too complex, at least incorporate a second LFO. The community has been discussing these enhancements for a while. However, the silence on many basic updates, coupled with the recent price drop, is creating the impression of abandoned products.
If you're gonna do more tutorials the model series, it would be cool to include performance tricks, shortcuts, useful things for getting into that flow state. There are so many of these intro vids saying the same thing.
Elektron is so lucky to have this guy! I'm subscribing. I might plunk down on a used Cycles if I can find that they've made current the firmware to it.
Yea it’s weird as hell. They kind of neglected these devices. For the last years I’ve seen what feels like 1000 updates and sound packs for their other boxes though
I love these machines, and I would gladly watch Enrique read out his shopping list. He's that good. However, these have been out for a while now, without significant firmware updates, and Elektron seems to be bent on promoting them. If the MS is a Digitakt-lite and the MC is a Digitone-lite, why not make a Model:Syntakt? 😊
hey there is a video of a dude using the cycles. He is playing back his sequence, and when he uses the trigs, it does live transpose. How does he do it. When i try, it just chokes out the sequence and plays the note chromatically. would love insight of this feature
I know these machines are all about simplicity. Nonetheless, please update the M:S with: a basic envelope, a second LFO, finer loop points, option to crossfade loops, gate mode for sample playback, sequencer playback direction, and song mode. Thanks! 🎉
Great machine but please consider these potential firmware updates 1-polyphony 2-more machine for MC I know it’s a lot to ask considering the price and the fact that there is the Digitone as alternative but I feel is worth to try to ask you 😁
Elektron have forgotten these boxes. It’s a shame. If they aren’t going to support them with updates & refinements, they should just stop making them. 🤷♂️
'hey whats up i have half of abrain but yall aleady know dat because you've seen my florida face physiognomy and my video on how to use lfo on syntesizor'
A multichannel USB audio output would make these machines unbeatable for many more musicians than already is in respect to price-performance ratio. The USB audio on these machines seems more like a side effect than intentional implementation of a feature. It doesn't even makes much sense. You can supposedly use it as an audio interface but they don't have ASIO drivers for it. You need to use Asio4All. Asio4All could be a viable solution IF that piece of hardware is the only hardware you're going to use forever and ever. But even then, you got only one stereo output. I don't see any advantage of their USB audio vs just using third party audio interface.
Can you update the firmware please? It's about time.
Dude, I love videos from your personal channel, never know that you also make videos for Elektron. Big up!
Model:Cycles user here. I adhere to the massive request for an update! :D

You can set an "attack". Did you not read the manual? LFO is one way....Sample start would be another.
@@JackPeloquin a dedicated attack, not a glorified work around that takes the only LFO you have.
model sample has sample start that is attack
Need update
Listen to the community and release an update Elektron!

Ricky Tinez! Yeah, baby. I love the EM:S. The workflow was a real gamechanger for me as a beginner trying to learn electronic music hardware.
Are we ever getting a new update? It'd be great to be able to save Pads and Trigs straight to Locks folder

These need an update desperately. Then they will sell more.
Needs ADSR controls and the Cycles needs more engines. Some more internal fx would be interesting.

My sentiments exactly
I did not expect Ricky to be here! Great surprise.
Both my devices turn off at the slightest bump of the power cable? Is there a fix for this ?
Are there ways of getting multi tracks of performances off of these machines and into DAW’s?

M:S does time stretch and repitch from day 1.
It seems that there have been no updates for both devices for several years. I assume you will release Model:Samples 2 and Model:Cycles 2 soon.
Update ❤
Thanks for the videos on both machines!

thank you
Update please 😭😭
With Sonicware Liven Lofi-12 I choose CYCLES :) They look nice togheter. Similar form factor. Cycles
also have this lo-fi vibe.
If I could load samples from my phone that I have recorded to the samples that would be awesome! For the cycles, more machines.
Models are like racing bikes from Elektron: from 0 to full party within seconds.
It would be great if Elektron creates a wavetable-based synth. Digitone's workflow and Waldorf Blofeld's sound
Both digitone and syntakt have wavetable functionality
💚💚💚
Please update the RYTM. We need a second LFO, and the werp machines from the Digitakt! Pleaseeee pleaseee pleaaaase!!!!!!
