My kitchen was installed 12 years ago and it looks as good as the day it was installed. I’ve had no issues whatsoever. I will do it again if ever needed in a new home.
I miss my IKEA kitchen. We moved to a newly constructed house with expensive "upgraded" Century cabinets. They don't function anywhere near as good as our IKEA. You're right about missing the soft close drawers that can hold 100+ lbs. The finish of the IKEA cabinets was MUCH tougher. After 7 years, 3 dogs and 2 kids, it only had 2 tiny dings. We've only been in our new house a year and I can't believe how many nicks and scratches these premium cabinets have! The farm sink was well worth the under $250! I did prefer the previous style of cabinet frames from IKEA. But, I'd do it again and recommend to anyone.
I love my farmhouse sink so much more than my old divided sink. I can now fit all of my big items in it and not get water everywhere cleaning up my canning pots. I use to have to clean them in my bathroom tub and hated it. I also put all drawers on the bottom. It is very easy to get to everything. I'm a lot older than you and bending over and trying to get things off the bottom shelves of standard cabinets was a pain in the back and the knees. By the way, your kitchen looks beautiful and every hard working mom needs a hard working kitchen. God bless & keep growing
I agree about the farmhouse sink. We purchased a new construction in 2019 and I was actually disappointed when I saw it. Now I don’t know how I did without it.
We planned and bought a new IKEA high gloss kitchen in May and have now returned for the installation. There is still a lot of painting, deep washing and scrubbing, electrical installation and final declutterring to be done, but we will finally be able to end this chapter in our lives. I have worked as hard as humanly possible in the last months to afford all its costs, and I don’t feel human. I need time to relax and enjoy engaging my mind and imagination again.
The best use of those thin cabinets that I've seen are the roll out spice racks. Since thin cabinets always seem to be next to the oven anyway, I found it a great use of space. really like that shirt by the way!
Wow…! I was a bit concerned at the beginning. I thought it was going to be a bad review. But yay, it isn’t and so I’m happy now and ready to install my awesome new kitchen😀. Thanks for the video. Is dynamic and entertaining.
I thought if a fix for your small cabinet on the end next to your stove. I was thinking you could turn into a spice cabinet with a roll out rack. Just keep the cabinet door as a faux door, then just pull out rack using drawer glider. Just a thought.
@@BetterTogetherLife Just get rid of it as a cabinet and have it converted into a panel section with a little bit of reinforcement. It would look so much better than way and not stand out against the other larger cabinets.
I'm not surprised. Samsung appliances are the worst. We had a Samsung fridge years ago. It was only a year old when we started having to replace piece by piece parts that started breaking. We will never buy another Samsung appliance again. I hear the most complaints about Samsung appliances now.
One of the things I cannot fathom is why anyone would think a 1 bowl kitchen sink would be optimal. Don't get me wrong, I love your home, but the 1 bowl sink would drive me insane. When I do wash my dishes, there is 1 bowl for washing, 1 bowl for rinsing. Plus, when I'm cooking, canning, etc., I need that 2 bowl sink.
With a big one bowl sink, you can turn it into a two bowl sink just by putting a big container in it and filling it with water or whatever. But you can't turn a two bowl sink into a one bowl sink.
I bought myself a 4 drawer Lateral Filing Cabinet from an office supplier and put 8 heavy duty wheels on it. I can put EVERYTHING in it and move it about on my tiled floor. I even put my microwave on the top (I am tall).
@@BetterTogetherLife Filing cabinets are great. I have a regular one that houses all of my quilting fabric....Each one is hung over the regular file holder. But it holds a lot.
Our first 2 kitchens were ikea. 3rd house we went a different route, due to some pressure from contractor(my step dad😆). Honestly, our first to kitchens were better by miles. We are now in the process of a remodel of our latest home and we are back to IKEA 100%. They have a 25 yr warranty on them and are just as solid if not more solid of base cabinets as our last and more expensive kitchen cabinets. If one was to be able to go solid wood then maybe that would be better. But for us that is a waste of money.
In my experience Ikea furnitures are great as along as you keepthem dey. They can withstand a lot of abuse but not water. And May God bless you with a happy and safe pregnancy with a healthy and joyous baby. Accept our heartiest wishes on such an amazing time of your life. You guys make me wanna wish my parens had raised me and my siblings on a homested.
Hi there! Well it is called a ruggable. But unfortunately we can not recommend it. They sent us a replacement and even this one has broken down. They say you can wash them...but they don't hold up when you do. And it SMELLS when you wash it.

Great video! I'm so excited to use our new Ikea kitchen in our new owner built home. Ikea pricing was better and we were able to get our kitchen faster than any other option right now due to all of the delays that the construction industry is experiencing. Tip: we hired their 3rd party installer and SOOO glad we did. I was also a little worried about the longevity since we got quartz countertops, but the installers said that some customers use marble countertops and the Ikea cabinets last....put my mind at ease. Could you share about your white countertops? We also have white and I think I might turn into the monster mom about keeping them clean, lol.
Honestly, the counters are so easy to care for! We just use a non toxic cleaner and try not to set hot stuff on to. We wipe up after meals and activities on the counters. And the one thing we messed up with was setting a rusted pot on the counter and getting that stain out was tough.
I need your T-shirt…. 30 seconds into the video and I’m just like, that shirt should be in my closet lol Also, yes, yes and yes! Drawers over cabinets all day, every day!
Watched a similiar video and the guy who had a sparkly clean kitchen and no visible 4 kids said he would never get the white farm sink again and not black either because they both stain so easily.. he said stainless instead for any future builds. Can you please tell me what the cabinet finish is called ? I'm just in the verge of purchasing an IKEA kitchen but don't see that finish anywhere. Thanks
I have no idea. It was from 2018. But it’s likely a “natural” or “pine” name. It’s for sure not hardwood, but stores like to make you feel like you’re buying fancy. 🥰
Hi, I live in Florida and I'm worried if there a problem with the air conditioning that those cabinets will bubble up and be ruined in a matter of days. What do you think?
Nope - I'm in Florida and my six year-old IKEA kitchen looks like new. Putting another one in the new house I am building here. They are FAR higher quality than anything the other big box stores sell for anything like the price. And the best part is that you can easily change things up. A few months ago I added one of the hidden drawers to my six year old kitchen. $50 worth of parts and 30 minutes of time, and I have a new spice drawer.
really like the look of your kitchen, our layout looks like it's going to be close to what you have. On the fence on IKEA or RTA cabinets. Aren't IKEA cabs made out of mdf particle board?
I have RTA and love them 4 years in perfection. Would do them anytime. Not opposed to ikea either heard so many good things. Not sure material on ikea? Mine are wood and that's why I chose them. Better quality and price of Lowes or home depot too. Did 4 rooms of cabinets. Kitchen, 2 baths and laundry. I did have an installer and someone who put them together which was great! I got a steal of a deal. I used 2 different brands because of styles I wanted. Oh and get as many drawers they are amazing. Have 30 inch ones in kitchen and love them so much. Way more practical and prettier than just cabinets. I have a few lower cabinets in places where needed. But mostly drawers. Best of luck!!!
Absolutely! We kept that our in this video….because that really wasn’t IKEA fault. 🤣 And then also…. We will have another video coming soon that I believe goes over that as well
Hi - thanks for this - I am designing a kitchen - super small and super minimalist - for our son who doesn't cook and I am leaning towards Ikea - but when I went and had my free design meeting I felt like I was having a "do you want fries with that" moment so came away without buying. But given your review I am rethinking - can I ask what size the drawers you got are please - both the little ones next to the kitchen and the big one too.
