Excellent, Roddy always says that if you brake at the bridge, you'll never make mountside and you made it every time, I wimp out at the 3 board going up to the cafe on a twin
Cheers mate! I remember Roddy saying that on the Novice track walk at the Barry Sheene round… challenge accepted 😂 It’s a little slower on the old CB into there though.
@@AdamShelton61 That’s what made this video a bit different. I’ve watched loads of onboards but never seen one that ends back in the pits with a hug! Brilliant stuff.
@@bosshogster6715 really appreciate the comments mate! My old man lives and breathes it and puts so much effort into making my old CB the best it can be (within the rules of course) and it was great to share that moment with you guys 😅
That looks soo much fun! I may take that up for fun and leave my suzy for the road.(it's old ,like me and to heavy to throw about now for me. AWESOME RIDING, Adam. You hunting down all the Lap Records? Hmmm.😁
@@madb132 thanks so much mate! Definitely recommend a CB for best bang for buck fun, £50 for a frame if it snaps in half 😂👌 I did have almost all of them back in 2013 (Thundersport), but it’s great to grab a couple for a bit of fun having jumped back on one 😅 All the best, Adam
I thought your previous vid of Olivers Mount was awesome. This is somehow faster and BUTTERY smooth. Phenomenal. How on earth you get round Mountside Hairpin like that, I'll never know. Brutal! 😎
@@BobsBikingAdventures thanks mate glad you enjoyed it!! The lines are messier than I’d like and still overshooting in the big stops when trying new things, probably another second or so to come off when it’s tightened up a bit as the lap record lap included 2 mistakes 😂. I haven’t done many laps myself, but I can see how it takes a long while to nail it properly (and relatively safely) 😅
Can you stick a camera on the rear of the frame, would be ace to see the bikes behind you as you ride. 😎 I just mount mine behind the rear shock directly into the frame, gets some amazing footage and close passes.
Boy those Honda 500's can shift given the right incentive! That was one WILD RIDE!! The chatter under braking must have been unnerving but you cannot change the forks can you? My friend had a Velo racer back in the late 60's in a Stevens racing frame, but after fitting a 4ls front brake the std forks whipped so badly he ended up retiring before they threw him off! Ended up fitting Norton Roadholders!! Good luck for the rest of the season!!!
@@notwocdivad there are basic suspension modifications allowed, but you’re absolutely right it’s the structural stiffness of the fork that could do with either bracing, or completely changing (sadly rules don’t allow it). It actually starts at the rear (wheel hop) when the clutch is disengaged and sets the front off, I’ve tried to be as smooth as possible, even leaving the clutch slightly disengaged (emulating a slipper), but the 1st and 2nd gears are so far apart it clearly doesn’t cure it completely 😂 It does stop almost completely on a hard rear tyre but you lose in other areas. If I had my way I’d change the geometry completely so the rear just lifts of the floor, problem solved 😅 Glad you enjoyed the video mate and thank you!
@@antimateria-6354 I use the rear brake, but not much pressure as there’s no weight on the rear wheel. I’m getting into the lower gears very early in the braking phase, the rear brake just keeps the rear wheel speed down and keeps the rpms in the safe part of the rev-range, the by-product is a big slide if you’re comfortable with it 😅… With a slipper clutch it wouldn’t be necessary but there isn’t one 🤷♂️😅
I've done a couple of laps in my company Skoda Octavia a few years ago trying not to exceed the 30mph limit whilst avoiding the dog walkers. I probably managed to hit 40mph on the top straight but don't tell the police. This is just unreal. The chatter under heavy braking must be giving the rider double vision.
@@AdamShelton61 I've just watched the other video with the 2 full races. At least you were hitting the apexes at the hairpins in that one but that one is even better despite no lap record. Incredible.
@@richardhebden5603 yeah I was definitely over-riding/experimenting a bit trying to find time, had fresh rubber on and was hoping to figure it out while the grip was there (it was the last set I had with me), it’s messier for sure. You’ll notice a steering damper fitted to the left fork leg in this one, which enabled full throttle over Jeffries Jumps without brown-pants moments 😅

Cheers mate! Just mounts to a bolt welded onto the frame, I had a massive moment heading towards a tree last time out and checked the rules to see it was allowed after. It’s only necessary around Oliver’s Mount on the CB really where the bike takes off absolutely flat out when the bike’s angled slightly to the right, with the damper you can just pin over the jump and forget about it. Anywhere else I’d probably take it off and save the 500g 😅
great lap, last time I was at Scarborough Sheen was racing but it hasn't changed much by the looks of it, the pits seem bigger, personally I don't like the place as a spectator it is terrible, unlike somewhere like Lyddon where you can see all the track,
I think most people would disagree with you on that. It’s a fantastic circuit to spectate at! It’s a brilliant place. You can walk around the whole track and get really close to the action. You just need to be physically fit unless you’re happy to stay in the same spot. Mountside hairpin and Mere hairpin are top places to watch from. Always plenty of spills and thrills there.
