Something to help you on Rainbow Road and other bullshit like that: hold B while drifting to break-drift. This is where you slow down but still drift. But do it briefly; do it until you are facing away from the cliff/wall/railing and then release B to continue drifting. This will let you have better control of your drift and will save you from falling off cliffs and running into walls/railings.
