The Soft Moon - Dead Love (at Room 205)

- Опубликовано: 10 май 2011
- Presenting the final installment of Room 205: Episode Eight with The Soft Moon. When asked to elaborate on the track's howling hyena vibe, The Soft Moon's singer/guitarist, Luis Vasquez, remarked, "It's a story about being in love with the ghost of a person's past self." We know exactly what he means.
The Soft Moon is a San Francisco-based neo-post-punk band influenced by early Bay Area avant-gardists such as Chrome, Units and Minimal Man. Their cataclysmic delivery makes listeners contemplate the deeper aspects of the primal self through weeping guitar leads, cutting bass lines, haunting vocals, icy synths and motorik beats. Mix in the mind-bending visuals of band member Ron Robinson and we have one hell of a Room 205 episode.
BIO
Raised under the burning sun of the Mojave desert, Luis Vasquez channels both his punk upbringing and Afro-Cuban heritage to sculpt dystopian soundscapes for a new generation of torn romantics. Vasquez founded The Soft Moon in 2009 as a means to explore music on a more visceral level, releasing the singles "Breathe the Fire" and "Parallels" on the Captured Tracks label. Shortly thereafter he brought on bassist Justin Anastasi, drum machine & synth programmer Damon Way and visual artist Ron Robinson. The debut LP, The Soft Moon, continues Vasquez's deeply personal journey into primal expression and spontaneous creation.

Rest in peace, Luis. Incredible music. Incredible person.
Jesus really! No?
It’s hitting me hard to learn Luis just died. His music helped me through a lot of dark times, and equally loved it when my life was good. I’ve always said he’s the best artist of the 2010s. And I’ll still say he’s a constant inspiration to me. One of my favorite artists of all time next to NIN, Swans, and Joy Division. You were amazing as all hell Luis Vasquez. You changed my life as an inspiration to my own creativity.
your words echoes in me...I've been lucky enough to meet him several times and see live in the early years of the Soft Moon. his music accompanied me in my darkest hours at that time. RIP Luis, you will always be cherished in my heart.
Don't leave me all alone
Don't leave me all alone
Don't leave me all alone
Don't leave me all alone
I want to breathe you
Inhale your soul
Touch your body
Feel your bones
I want to breathe you
Inhale your soul
Touch your body
Feel your bones
Don't leave me all alone
Just Pure awesomeness, synth, Dark, and perfect vibes
Those lyrics are so heartbreaking and beautiful. I read them for the first time since 2016 and I am shocked. I've never been able to capture them. Thank you so much for sharing them.
Rip Louis your music changed my life
Luis will live forever
Descansa en paz, Luis . Gracias por la increíble música.🖤
"It's a story about being in love with the ghost of a person's past self"

Yulia Ryzhova Nah it's just edgy meaningless bullshit tbh
@@twinkgaming420... Shut up and make me a sandwich bitch
@@twinkgaming420 wow it's almost as if music has meaning and it's all subjective
sounds better than the studio version
Agreed.
Me three.
true.
Way better
All of these 205 versions seem to upend their predecessor. Or is it just me?
The atmosphere in this live version is rather incredible. Wow
Norman Reedus brought me here, his musical taste is phenomenal.
getting addicted to this guys...what a sound...
Wow great stuff, from an old 80's waver/post punker!
The energy of this song gives me chills. Love it.
It's funny how 80's goth music is the avant-garde of our time....
yup, For surely one of the best son/video i've ever heard or seen in my life.. the base line is priceless
This brings me back to life.
I can't believe you're gone.

These guys are really exciting - best dark sound since the 80's Cure, Bauhaus, etc

Saw them yesterday in Amsterdam. Best gig in years! The ambiance, the dark (but mellow) vibe; everyone was stunned.... Thank you !;)
this chanel is one of the best things i ever see in my life.
This is great.. Haven't heard anything like this since the late 90s.
See, isn't that great how nice synths and guitars can sound when you put them together?
And bass...
I like this recording better than the one available on iTunes.
an eargasm! :-O
was totally thinking this reminded me of early xymox and dead can dances first album. Yeah I hear early 4AD all over this.
If they could just take the room 205 sessions and put them on an extended play album, that would be rad.
Amazing stuff, the best band I've discovered this year by far. Can't wait to see them next month.
beautiful production.. gives me faith in current music
Great sound. I love these noise-y JoyD style bands in the vein of Skywave, Ceremony, Drone Dimension, Black Marble, etc.
***** The new Viet Cong release is fantastic. Check the song Silhouettes.
Check out the Black Queen, Legend, Cold Cave, and Drab Majesty. :)

LOVE is ETERNAL...chasing it in this REALM, and putting a 'ring' on it, is the BIGGEST 'Circle Jerk'.

so sad he passed! please everyone, check your substances for fentanyl on a regular basis, carry Naloxone at all times! or best case, reduce substance consumption and get sober... better on the long run. :-(

Oh Gangtype hero. My name is ANGEL!
FKNG GOOOD!
I just jizzed in my pants!
Люблю
I have the album thanks. Dark wave and Cold Wave share some of the same elements with today's Psych rock...it doesn't really matter because it's good. "Audibly consume"...ok good bye
Ian Curtis was dead for 4 years and New Order were well into their third album cycle by then, lol
Yes, Norman Reedus brought me here
how do dry, barren deserts spawn such rich, lush music
I would like to know the pedals they use for the guitar and bass!
fuck me this is so emotional
