Rahman was only complaining ab the weight because Jake is claiming he’s fighting a heavyweight which just isn’t right lol. You can’t claim you’re fighting a heavyweight if there’s a rehydration clause in the contract.

This is the game-changer fight for Jake and Rahman. After this fight, each of them will be irrevocably defined by the outcome of this fight. If Jake wins this, he will have the RESPECT of the boxing community. If Rahman wins this, he will have the IDEAL platform to elevate in the boxing world and benefit from his Father's legacy.
I will not respect JP if he 'wins' neither will most of the 'boxing community'.

Great breakdown! I do disagree with the rehydration clause being fair. If he makes weight, he makes weight. But to not be able to rehydrate completely could be dangerous for Hasim, in regards to the brain fluid being replenished.

Feel like you definitely overlooked Hasim's point in him coming down in weight. His point is very valid and you seemed to push it aside with a reference to weight classes and advantages... almost made his point while disagreeing. Jake Paul picked a heavyweight to fight at cruiserweight.

My biggest issue is the rehydration clause. I train fighters and this is a bigger disadvantage than most know. It's hard enough to cut 25 lbs and then you can't rehydrate?! Fighters usually weigh in the night before, I would like to see the contract and see exactly what weight Rahman will have to be on fight day.
@@andrewwood9067 essentially all classes need a rehydration standard. I don't have an issue with the clauses. I have issue with fighters not being able to maintain weight reasonable to the class or deliberately dropping a class to balloon above the weight on fight days. In this instance yes, Jake Paul's using it to his advantage but equally if Rahman Jr can't get down the weight and hold it...he shouldn't be signing the deal. I would say I don't think fighters should be allowed to go and pick that advantage, if its questionable don't sanction the fight and they should be made to fight someone within the weight category.

It's a real problem because almost no one fights in their own weight class anymore, so you have the option of fighting a guy who will undoubtedly outweigh you by 15 lbs on fight day, or you cut weight yourself. They tried a no more than 8% gain between Friday and Saturday but the UFC guys cried about it and it was done within a few months
I have never seen Jake more frazzled in a press conference until this one he wasn't able to paint this narrative that he usually does and I think it's a good thing it makes thing more fresh than it being the Jake Paul show.

The weight cut & rehydration clause will have a big effect on a natural heavyweight, lets not just dismiss it as a cakewalk. Rahmans last fight he was aroumd 224 i think, so he probably walks around at maybe 230/235 ish

@@charliecraig2043 he has to cut weight down to cruiserweight (less than 200lbs) when he's naturally around 235 and then he can't rehydrate between the weigh in and the fight as rehydrating adds weight
@@charliecraig2043 Most fighters walk around much heavier than the weight they have to be at to fight, some fighters cut a lot of weight leading up to a fight but when getting very close to weigh ins they cut "water weight" and completely dehydrate themselves so that they can make that lower weight.
It's very common practice that after weigh ins a fighter fighter will be hooked up to IV fluids to rehydrate themselves, giving them back a lot of that weight which is a great advantage in boxing (you should look at a boxer at weigh ins and then in the fight, the difference is amazing. Some fighters go from looking incredibly unhealthy, skinny and barely standing up - to balloon up back up to completely normal over night)
A rehydration clause in the contract means that you can't use the IV fluids.

@@elreymago4750 How can someone with 5 fights have a padded record, and the best of boxers did that early on in their career, but 5 fights just doesn't seem reasonable to say he has a padded record, also considering he doesn't have much experience, he was fighting guys with around the same experience level, except for Nate he just capped all the way through that camp, and Ben, but hell people thought Jake would lose so 🤷

@ 13:12 I think it's because he's pretty green overall.He isn't used to getting hit clean so he's trying to punch and exit before the return at the same time instead of planning his feet and following the target. I used to do it a lot when I first started sparing in kickboxing.
Jake himself doesn't have good cardio as seen in the Woodley fights. So basically who's gonna be able survive gassing and if Jake can work around Rahman's jab
if you took both resumes/acomplishments of these fighters in boxing without knowing who is who, there is no way you would pick Jake over rahman jr.
Rahman Jr is bigger, stronger in the clinch, pretty much same power as jake, more experienced. He is also better fundemantly, can switch stances, slip shots/counter. I dont know why jake and his team picked Rahman Jr, but they are in for a rude awakening.
Yeah but honestly jake to me has created a streak like thing where no matter how good his opponent is, I still don't belive they can outbox him and win, he's the guy who's hosting this, he's the a side, he's the money fight, there is psychological issuses there, you doubt yourself when you're against the one most people are intersted in and you just another guy he's fighting you know, you start to doubt yourself
if i was any of those fighters, i'd doubt myself, like a lot of people care about who i am now and googling me and watching me because i'm fighting jake paul, a lot of those are coming to see jake and not me, like it aint easy to think you can beat him.

Anyways i'm still confused about that he's taking hasim on quite frankly because he's a heavyweight, this whole catch weight fight where someone goes up or down in weight to fight someone, I don't understand it, if there is weight classes, then this goes against it.
if you're a crusierweight why should you fight a guy who fights heavyweight even if you can go up in weight or he goes down in weight for the fight to happen

Ultimately this is a win win for Jake, if he by some miracle gets the win he can come out and say he's beaten a boxer and a boxer with a better record than Tommy. If he loses he can say course I lost its a very experienced boxer but I had the guts to step up, take him on and give him a bigger payday than any promoter will at this stage in the guys career. The only downside is losing his 0 record but he isn't trying to become world champ so it's irrelevant if he loses here tbh.

the mans a legit boxer with good technique and shot selection he's only downside imo is his engine - jake really really has to dig deep or he will get hurt let alone knocked out but dont forget rahman is losing weight he will feel fitter and more energetic having shed 2 stone
With that rehydration clause, it should be pretty easy for Jake to win. Survive one round and he's gonna win. It's a sham, as usual.

I'm telling you, he's at a SEVERE disadvantage before the fight even begins. Cant underestimate that dehydration clause. Help be slower mentally and physically, way easier to knock out, fatigued, uncomfortable, potential headaches, and so on.
If Jake wants to win he needs to get rid of bj Flores. He’s not a good coach and we saw that when Jake fought Woodley TWICE. Yeah he beat Ben and Nate but I would beat those guys too in a similar way. In the gib fight he had Sugar Shane Mosley and he did a good job and there was a lot of good signs
The Nate fight was very technical, but pretty much all his fights he stuck to the game plan, so really it’s up to jake at that point

If I remember correctly Hasim was given a very close deadline to make weight it seems like Jake and his team were counting on him not being able to honour the deal.

I might be incorrect… but I’m under the impression he was trying to say, stop telling the people, your fighting a heavy weight and some one bigger than me, when we have clause where I can’t even hydrate after the weightin… that’s my impression, I might be incorrect
I think you pretty much covered it Brian, the difference in speed, cardio, size, heart and pressure will make this an interesting fight. I can see how they can both win, but irrespective of the result, the smaller man has more excuses for the loss. Either way they get paid. could happen to anyone btw, you could be winning a 12 round bout until the eleventh, and just a slight mistake can get you knocked out. Can get KO'd by anyone aswell.
I think the Jake has been smart with picking his opponents by slowly increasing the skill level of each one but this is too big of a jump in skill for him. Bad decision. Pride comes before a fall.

Tru, u need to understand how important a hydration clause is, of you wanna promote the fight as “im fighting a guy bigger than me” than dont make the rehydration clause
I think hasim was out of breath in the 2nd round because this fight for him was a legit test against a true legit fighter so there may have been some nerves I also think the constant pressure from Morrison also probably made him breath heavier because hasim likes to sit on the outside and when you are pressured like that it can mess up your breathing. Also he said he's fought at Cruiserweight before so thats probably more natural for him than being at heavyweight so he might have been too big for that fight against a guy with that style. Hasim will be lighter and against a guy who doesn't apply constant pressure and isn't comfortable in close range who he has fought before so he knows what to expect so those nerves shouldn't be there and hasim can dictate how the fight will go and we have to remember Jake has shown to be gassed into round 3 himself so I have more confidence in hasim and his gas tank than most people would from seeing his last fight. I think hasim can stay on the outside and when Jake trys to go in and clinch hasim can move and land heavy shots to the body and head which Jake has never taken consistently so I'm confident that Jakes tank won't last that well if hasim lands to the body Early and keep Jake at a distance and when Jake trys to clinch go to work because Jake never does that he clinchs alot when someone gets close and thinks he's safe. And hasim can definitely land with ease Jake has no defense in any of his fights and constantly leads with his head so hasim can definitely catch him and hurt him because he will still hit like a heavyweight even at Cruiserweight and Jake has never been faced with that power.

IT'S A SET UP! Jake slipped up in an interview where he was talking about his brother saying he shouldn't have taken this. Exact words "My brother said what happens if he accidentally knocks you out?" Slipped up big time.
Theyll just say he meant that if Jake messes up and gets knocked out. But i think we know what was really meant by it. The first Woodley fight Paul got accidentally knocked down and it was ignored. His brothers fight with Floyd was clearly not on the up and up since Floyd accidentally caught him and had to hold him up. The opponents probably sign NDA's because there probably are no knockout clauses in the contracts.

@@Ben-io2vo I think everone understands Jake Paul has a slim chance here - his team is likely betting on a long-duration fight bc Jake has a chin and has a chance to knock him out if he gets a lucky shot. Otherwise, the goal of this fight seems to be to show Jake's competence relative to a "real boxer" and to settle that controversy. Regardless of the circumstances, Jake wanted a fight on short notice and likely understands his odds. And if he loses, it's really not a big deal because this is a legit boxer and Jake will very likely show significant improvement relative to his skillset - and it's likely he'll go the distance anyway, so if he were to lose it'd be by a few points here and there. I'm rooting for Jake and Hasim seems like a good guy too - these are just my thoughts.

Coming down ain’t the issue. The rehydration clause is nonsense. That’s not normal. Especially in 4 weeks. It’s takes time to drop that much weight fully while training hard. You need energy to train hard correctly.

This Is not only Jake's first time fighting an experienced boxer but also his first time fighting without the size and skills advantage too. All his other opponents were smaller than him by a good amount with little to no boxing skill. This fight will definitely he pivotal for Jake's future and don't think he will win.

Rahman sells himself well and definitely looks the part but after watching his training and some of his fights I wouldn't be surprised if Jake sleeps him. Jakes in a unique position where he can be selective with his opponents, and he picks certain people for a reason. I honestly thought he didn't stand a chance against Woodley and look what happened. He picked Woodley for a reason just like this fight

You can't fairly compare Jake Paul's use of range against the shorter guy versus a taller guy. You make adjustments a guy that's shorter you obviously can put him out on the end of your punches and half step back out of his range. If a guy has range on you, you got a dip slip and swim the pocket of making him miss working your way in.
Jake making him drop weight class and the rehydration clause is a massive advantage and he coming of a loss jake picked him at his weakest but I think jake bit off more than can chew he has a lot more boxing experience which should make a big difference

You’re actually at your best when you lose as it makes you rethink and change things up. His dad even said he’s improved as he looked bad in every fight he has been in, which Jake used to make a joke but if it’s true then he used the loss to listen to his dad and coaches to improve and not be lazy/ run out of gas
@@pwners4u true sometimes but after getting knocked out a lot of fighters get gun shy worrying about getting knocked out again so they don’t throw as much it can take a toll on fighters mentality
True Geordie is clearly ignorant regarding the significance of the hydration clause. This clause can be common in boxing but in this case the clause poses a significant and unfair disadvantage to Rahman. Cutting weight takes a lot out of a fighter and he needs to make 200 lbs in only 4 weeks (the lowest he's ever weighed at a weigh in was 211 lbs). More to the point, Rahman won't be allowed to eat and re-hydrate in a healthy manner as he's only allowed to regain 10 lbs. This could very easily weaken him and severely hamper his performance during the fight.
It’s a win-win situation for jake. If he wins he takes the glory, praise for fighting a real boxer and can continue his journey. If he loses he goes back to the drawing board and down a level, and fights KSI for millions. It’s a no lose situation. Very clever when you think about it.

What I will say though. In my mind Jake shouldn’t say he fights a heavyweight if he isn’t fighting Rahman Jr. at heavyweight. Not saying it’s wrong to ask Rahman go down but then don’t flex about it being heavyweight.
The rehydration clause means he can be 215 by lunchtime on fight day - 215 is heavyweight, so on fight night he will theoretically be in there with a heavyweight.

I dont know why jake left Shane Mosley. Jake looked the best againt gib than any other fighter and gib is better than nate and ben and that was his first fight 3 years ago and jake looked the best. Than he switched trainers to bj flores for the nate ben and woodley fight where atleast for the tyron fights jake did not look the best and got saved by his ko power and when he didnt get a ko he got a split decision win. I think he should go back to Shane Mosley
Jake didn't leave Mosley. Shane didn't want to continue associating himself with Jake due to the some controversies Jake was involved in at the time so they decided to not continue working together.
The ducking behind a jab is a good tactic to avoid a counter overhand, often much more common than a counter uppercut, you don't often counter a jab with an uppercut unless you make the read.

My read on Jake during that press conference was that he was ready to get in there. He looked frustrated by not frightened. He has no reason to win this fight but we'd be silly to think that his team would let him take a fight he'd lose
Umm yes he's scared and should be. It was a last minute replacement and based only on his last fight were he got stopped by a heavy hitter by a professional 19-0 heavy hitter. So they think Jake is a "heavy hitter" and beat him with that. But if you watch Rahman's last fight he took a lot a heavy hits again from a PRO heavy hitter. He is fighting a real boxer with a good fight IQ that can take hits and deal out punishment for coming in and missing, something that none of Jake's opponents have done. Only way Jake wins this fight is if it's rigged lol.

The only thing I disagree on is at 7:45. Why should we give credit to Jake for taking on a “boxer” isn’t that his job? I mean, Jake calls himself a “pro boxer.” We can’t give more credit to someone when that is the standard/norm.

I like Rahman’s attitude and the way he’s showing up a lot. I like underdogs and I respect Jake for taking a fight that’ll demand a significant jump in skill. My intuition of Jake is that he’s someone who steps up for hard challenges to prove doubters wrong, etc., and deals very well with pressure. Rahman looks completely unphased. This could be really interesting.

I did watch it, and Rahman jr was piecing Morrison early, rahman still got caught a few times early but because Morrison was dirty boxing and roughing Rahman up, and he later gassed. If you think Jake is capable of doing what Morrison did based on what jake HAVE SHOWED in his last few fights, then you are being extremely naive.

I don’t think you understand how a rehydration clause can effect a fighter if you’ve never cut weight before then you shouldn’t speak on how a rehydration clause can effect your performance
I agree with Rahman on calling Jake out about the heavyweight thing. It's stupid for Jake to keep talking like he will be fighting a heavyweight when Rahman will be cruiserweight for the bout. Rahman's right, if Jake wants the credit for beating a heavyweight then he should fight him as a heavyweight. You shouldn't be able to act like you're going to take down a heavyweight if you're fighting someone at cruiserweight.
I think a big thing is that we dont we a lot of exchanges in Jake Pauls previous fights. Ik one of them led to the big shot by Woodley in first fight that almost knocked Jake down. In fighting sometimes you have to bite down on your mouth piece and get hit to get shot of your own. I think this fight has two ressults. Hasim early or Jake late. Jake is either in over his head or Hasim gasses out.
At what point does “showing heart” and giving it a crack not become good enough for jake.

Jake Paul, his team, and some of his deranged fanboys are desperately counting on Hasim coming in on fight night weight drained and dehydrated within an inch of his life so that Jake can land his lucky punch after he spams it 50 times throughout the course of the fight. As if Rahman isn’t literally preparing for him to do just that. Jake isn’t skilled and his fans don’t know any better. The last Woodley KO has them thinking he can just knock everybody out and all he has to do is land a punch but they forget that it took Jake 14 rounds and two different fights to KO Woodley. And it’s not like Woodley was known to have the best chin nor was Woodley even used to taking punches from 200+ lb men like Jake. The only other person he knocked out cold was a basketball player who was underprepared and untrained. Hasim wasn’t even KO’ed by Morrison, who is much larger and hits harder than Jake ever can. He was knocked down, got up, then the fight was stopped prematurely. Prior to that, Hasim had been eaten Morrison’s punches whenever they landed. Keep hoping and praying that the dehydration will suddenly make Hasim fight like an amateur. I’ll come back here to laugh on August 7th after Jake gets flattened.
