  • The BMW Alpina (E39) B10 V8 Touring is a special car, no doubt about it. A sonorous engine, luxurious interior and supreme practicality make it very hard to beat. Under the bonnet is a 4.6-litre naturally aspirated V8 engine, delivering 340bhp and 347lb-ft of torque to the rear wheels through a five-speed ZF ‘Switch Tronic’ automatic transmission.
The Alpina B10 V8 Touring combines a muscular hand-crafted V8 engine with elegant styling to create a bespoke estate with a discreet sporting edge. Believed to be the only example of this model finished in this colour scheme and offered for sale in impressive cosmetic and mechanical condition, this B10 V8 promises to make for a refined and practical family vehicle as well as an entertaining B-road companion.

Lovely cars these. I used to have a 1999 B10 V8 in black. Previous to that a 2000 B10 3.3 in blue. Both saloons.
By the way, 375 bhp was the S, as already stated, this has 340 bhp. Still plenty to give a decent shove in the back.

This particular example has 4.6L engine (F4) with vanos unit (engine cover with shaped space for oil dipstick) so 347bhp. The earliest cars untill probably 11.98 had 4.6 without vanos unit (straight lines engine cover- F3) having 340bhp.

I remember when we (South africa) got our first Alpinas in the early 90s. It was the E34 B10. I only ever saw two in person and both times they caused a stir. Those gorgeous alloys and that body kit gave it a stance so much better than even the M5 of that generation. Very special cars indeed.

Those are the incorrect headlights for a T-reg car (late 1998/early 1999). It should have the earlier type with amber indicators. The Alpina is a rare and desirable beast - I have the next best thing, a mega spec 540i Touring, Slate/Stone Green inside and out, every available extra - it was £52,322 new in 2001. Tyre value : when was the last time someone let your tyres down ? Exactly. The reason that the value is where it is, is to keep the value closer to the hub, which makes the wheel easier to balance, and centres the weight nearer the hub. Stopping people letting down the tyres has nothing to do with it, either as a design or a desired by customer feature

You really have to love the 5-speed auto and the buttons on the steering wheel.
This system is bloody annoying and surpassed by SMG, then DCT and then the latest 8-speed autos.
Deep pockets to buy, insure and service - the price of rarity, and then 9/10 don't like you because to them, it's a BMW.
Alpinas are a second hand car dealer's dream. They can knock dejected sellers and sell on as a rarity.

Even if I wanted one (which I really do) I couldn't buy one.

The MOT history for it is missing, why is that?

      It's a Japanese imported example

@@asimhumayun7428 The registration date is June 1999. This is the date it was registered here in the UK. That makes no sense for a Japanese import. The only MOT on record is from October 2021, 3 months ago, which is probably when they were preparing the car for sale. How is it possible for a car to have 113k miles on the clock, registered here in the UK 23 years ago and have only 1 MOT test, 3 months ago? What happened to the other MOT tests?

@Ioannis Iordanidis The registration date is when it was registered for use for the first time. But this does not have to be in the UK.
In this case it was first used in Japan in June 1999.
Given the first UK MOT was in October, the car likely arrived in the UK around this time.

@@asimhumayun7428 Thank you for explaining. This makes sense and also explains the odometer in kilometres for a left hand drive car (Japanese). Thanks again!
