    • @BongSau83
      @BongSau83 8 лет назад +17

      Manu Das sorry buddy but thats another really stupid comment. Firstly no one here was suggesting Viv was great because he hit sixes. He was great because he could play every shot in the book and dominate an attack from ball 1. He averaged 50+ through the 80's on uncovered wickets, with tiny bats all while playing without a helmet. Also yes i have played cricket, i played at a professional level for a few years until i suffered a back injury. Everyone who has got even the slightest clue knows that Sir Viv was easily as good as lara or Sachin and most likely better.

    • @BongSau83
      @BongSau83 8 лет назад +1

      Manu Das Just out of curiosity how old are you? You realise cricket has been around a bit longer than Tendulkar and Lara yeah? There are a handful of batsmen better than both of them and many comparable. Don Bradman was so much better it's not even worth comparison so we'll leave that one but names like Gavaskar, Sobers and Greg Chappell immediately spring to mind. Also Viv faced Lillee and Thompson in their prime and destroyed them on many occasions so the whole Aktar, Lee debate is mute. His actual technique may not be text book but that is simply irrelevant. If you don't believe me just google "wisden top 10 batsmen" and read what you find.

      Vivian Richards is the king of cricket by far.I Love Lara but Richard was fearless, naturally talented and just loved the game. Also remember Vivian Richards,Marshall,Holding,Garner and others didn't have the luxury of practicing in fancy stadiums like these modern cricketers rather they learned to play cricket on the roads and beaches of the Carribean.

    Viv Richards, Greg Chappell, Alan Border, David Gower, Clive Lloyd etc. - how different their batting averages would look if they'd had the enormous bats they have now. And how different the batting averages of today's legends would look if they had to face Marshall/Ambrose/Holding/Garner/Roberts/Walsh/Croft/Bishop etc.

      Arun Kumar no one in todays game can match him. First he scored against proper bowlers, this was time on imran, kapil, botham, hadlee, bedi, sarfaraz, wasim, lilee, thompson. Not todays chickens, second the rules were different, no free hits, unlimited bouncers, third the pitches were not tailored for batting, fourth the boundaries were atleast double of what they are today, fifth they did not have modern bats. It was all skill and power. Most of sixes today would have been easy catches those days. Kohli would not have made it in the west indian team that richards dominated.
