I absolutely love monkey ball but I hate the first game for it's difficulty. The extra stages are unlocked by not dying once. This is do-able on Beginner and do-able on Advanced after some practice.. but on Expert? Really tough. If you make it through expert without using any extra continues, you'll unlock the Master stages. Now this is where things get EXTREMELY frustrating. My previous longplay was 80% real hardware and 20% emulation. Back then my real hardware recordings were done with composite cable so the emulation part of my old video looks A LOT better than the former part. This new longplay is all emulation, not gonna lie about it. I couldn't finish this game without it. If you can, I bow down DEEPLY to you. I know it's humanely possible as some speedrunners have done it, but for the other 99.9%... you're not going to. Anyway, it's an extremely enjoyable game if you play it on emulator... but I think Super Monkey Ball 2 is better as it's not horrendously difficult and has a simple stage select. I've also included the bonus minigames. I love the Monkey Golf especially. Very simplistic and fun. Can be played multiplayer.

Yeah, then hey kiddo you want to try to play with me and your mom on Sonic or something. 😲 I thought my controller was broken I got schooled so hard. And she was maybe 4. Lots of fun over the years with video games lol

A tough choice indeed. Personally, I have a tremendous amount if nostalgia for Sonic Adventure 1 and 2 GCN ports as well, and Sonic Heroes is pretty good too, although I think that’s the last good 3D sonic game for a good while.

I loved this and 2 as a kid, never made it past advanced on either of them because I was dumb and stupid and 6 years old, but I still loved these and played the absolute hell out of Monkey Billiards. Sucks that from what I've heard, every single Monkey Ball game after this (of which I'd heard of none of them growing up) are either awful or a mixed bag. Can't believe this series of all things had an open world rpg at some point.
I remember there was a racing mode and a mode where you jumped off a ramp and flew over the ocean until you made it to a target and tried to land on it as well
My older brother and I played that mode religiously. He would always tease that the shadow of the Dole blimp in the water was a shark. The mysterious super monkey ball shark became a running joke. Never could land that tiny target island!
And we love it! Or hate it. Always depends upon if the wife or kids were in the mood to assist or sabotage any effort to advance past one another or succeed at knocking each other off the leaderboard constantly and giggling at watching the struggle with figuring out the trick you discovered. 🤗😂 Ready!? GO!!!
The Super Monkey Ball games are really fun. There was also a SpongeBob game that was online in the Nickelodeon Arcade that was like this called SpongeBob Obstacle Odyssey.
I love this game so much. 😊 I just wish this exact version of the game made it to Banana Mania, with all the voices and stylistic choices intact (but the reduced difficulty of later versions is welcome). I also really miss the way the music cuts out right as it starts for some levels. I know it’s not supposed to do that, and they fixed it in later iterations of the game, but still.
