Another example of Doug swinging a sword he's not familiar with like a knife and messing up his edge alignment, to the detriment of the tested blade. Maybe it's time for Forged in Fire to admit that being a skilled and experienced knife fighter doesn't qualify him to swing claymores and sabers around
While I can agree with what your saying I must add the point of the test is to show off how well the blade can withstand force even in the hands of amateurs who won't exactly know how to properly wield them. Example some dude comes across the sword and buys it with no knowledge of it and immediatly breaks it depending on the price that wouldn't be a happy customer

Like do you think most weaponsmiths actually know the proper forms for the swords they make, "some do" if you look at most videos on the internet of blacksmiths testing the swords they make for the most part they aren't using proper forms

No, it's primarily the smith's failure to make the grip properly. Too smooth and too blocky leads to bad ergonomics and a bad surface to hold onto. The grip is just as important as the blade when it comes down to using a weapon. An uncomfortable or improperly made grip will make using it more difficult and less comfortable, possibly even dangerous to the user. If it's too smooth, your hand can slip. Too blocky and it'll dig into your palm and fingers. Too round and you can't keep the edge aligned well. You get the picture.
The reason why these swords break is cause they throw any kind of steel into fire call it day these guys dont take the time to fold it and pound the impurities out of the metal so crack and breaks are less likely to happen
Danm I always feel bad for the guy that didn't win!... And yeah I am not calling them losers they didn't lost anything, they won all of my respect because I wanna grow up to become a blacksmith and I can't even imagen to be able to make those kind of blades.
