- Apple's latest push with iMessage support over satellite with the iPhone 14, iPhone 15, and upcoming iPhone 16 phones is really cool and it will be free at first, but eventually Apple will start charging for it, of course. This video is an explanation and how-to on how iPhone satellite imessaging works and what phones it will work for!

I have to drive for about 8 miles from my house to get a cell phone signal. I depend on Wi-Fi calling at home
I wish Android would get this feature. It is such a lifesaving feature and it has saved so many lives.
Even if I had to pay $5 or $10 a month for the feature I would certainly pay it especially if I was camping or going someplace that had no service or even hiking. This is definitely a life-saving feature.
It's in android 15
@@DDOSin66 so far I haven't seen it
Chinese android has the Beidou SanNav chip for 2 way satellite communication and messaging.
@@forevercod.younggun6352It's in emergency settings
Well Adam, I’ve gone and done it. Loaded up the beta on my 15PM. Made my home page to my liking. It’s cool I guess. Something new to play with. Everything works as advertised. No over heating, I don’t know about battery drain as I’ve only had it running for a few hours. Gotta give it a week or so. Liking the refurbished settings menu.
Interesting video, thanks for sharing. Hope you'll be okay with that storm
Sure thing. Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for watching! And thank you. Hoping it's not too bad.
Huawei can also do this as well
Correct. Starting with the P50 Pro I believe. I had it.
Hopefully some of that rain comes to us in San Antonio. It's too damn hot over here!
You were talking about the storm. I live in the Beaumont area. I hope we don't get a lot of rain.
Hopefully it’s not too bad. I lived in Port Arthur for a bit when I was growing up. I’m very familiar with Beaumont
Did you android find my tags to test?@@TechOdyssey
Interesting!
I think so too!
About 2 1/2 weeks ago I joined the pixel beta program and shortly after, I noticed I had satellite enhancement feature under networks. Week later got another updated software and it disappeared. They must be still working on it.
Intersting...
Former radio troop in the Air Force, satellite access is not cheap, so for Apple to absorb the costs for a while is pretty dope of them. After the introductory period I’m sure that there would be a cost but either people can probably nix it or carry on for a cost.
What I can see happening is, once Apple gets texts, calls and data on satellite, they’ll make their own phone plan and probably push phone carriers out. Of course, other manufacturers will follow suit, causing a whole new chip race to develop better data speeds and battery efficiency (satcom takes up a lot of power).
We’ve already had the emergency satellite feature for two years now. The text is the new thing. I think it may get to a point where they charge as you use it.
Apple is teamed with Globalstar, T-Mobile is teamed with Starlink. Not sure about ATT. I read that Verizon isn't joining anytime soon, as they haven't seen a great consumer demand for space-based connectivity. Will be interesting moving forward. 🤙🏼
Will be US only like when it first launched for emergency messaging
U.S. and I believe a handful of other countries.
I would imagine the emergency services being free but in terms of just casually, texting and calling people that will be a price
Google just rolled out gemini app in Indian playstore can anyone tell how to get it in Google messeges app
Pixel 8 pro user india
Do I need to download the playstore version of gemini app or will it work natively via the assistant settings
Can anyone tell
This should be implemented all across the board when it comes to iPhone users. I have an iPhone 14 but everyone is not fortunate to buy the latest and greatest so, if your iPhone is older than the 14 and you’re stuck in the middle of nowhere i guess you’re fudged!

Android users get so much wrong about iMessage. It was never about “Android” and green vs blue. Apple created iMessage as a workaround the carrier system for iPhone users. Where we were paying the carriers PER CHARACTER for each text, Apple users could use iMessage completely free because it was not designed to work through carriers like SMS. Apple also created “free calls over WIFI” but carriers were able to block it. iMessage was a reason and benefit to buying an iPhone. I can’t see Apple ever changing that dynamic and charging for iMessage features.
Wifi calling has been on Android since 2007
@@jordanjackson8873 that’s AMAZING…considering Android didn’t come for a couple of years after the iPhone release, like 2008.
@@sharonb.9128 you do realize android phones were around before 2008, correct? 2008 was the release of the first touch screen phone with android. Android was around before it even reached major markets.
You’re both wrong. Android was first commercially available in September 2008. WiFi calling was first called that used 802.11 and that started in 2007. It wasn’t Android but phones that would become Android. Apple didn’t come out with WiFi calling until iOS 8.
@@brandonw1604 well I had the right spirit 😂😂
So basically you don’t know if they are going to charge for it or how much it will be if they do. Hmm.
I said they will charge for it but nobody knows how much. It was pretty clear.
