Arrived today. With my Mystery Hometown Hero and Jones Freecarver 600s..I think I am done spending money on boards for a few years! Love the fact (and consistency) that the MD & Mystery HTH are almost identical weight wise!
@mark I Have a Burton Hometown hero Mystery 160cm that I’ve not ridden yet. Own’ed a standard HTH 156cm in the past- which ai really liked. I’m 170-175 lbs/6ft/size 10 boot. I think often should I have got the Megadeath 159cm instead, as my freeride/powder/ piste cruiser : ) If I may ask what sizes dod you get in Mystery HTH and MD? What are your specs. I will be very interested to hear your thoughts on both board on and off piste- if you dont mind sharing once you get them on snow.
@@stivabeltman2900 I have the 156 Mystery HTH & the 156 MD. I wear a size 8 UK (9 US) boot and weight 185lbs (happier at 175lbs). I wish I had bought the 157 wide MD as the extra width and slight increase in size would have probably been a better size for me. With your foot size and weight I would probably go for the 157 wide as well over the 159. I don’t think the length would be a noticable difference but the extra width in powder and carving might be a better fit. I am heading to Morzine/Avoriaz in December..looking forward to getting on all the new boards! The Mystery Hometown Hero with the new EST bindings are an amazing combination weight wise. Can’t wait to try it out. I just wish the Burton channel system was across the board with snowboard companies as the EST bindings just feel so much better to me.

This board is good for the first part of the day. If you get tired after your lodge poutine and a couple of beers, this board will be hard to control if your feeling tired and sloppy! Or perhaps I'm just getting old at 42 and I ain't what I used to be?! 🍻
I just started snowboarding and going on my first ski/snowboard vacation in January in Austria. Gonna rent my board, but if I enjoy it a lot, I'm definitely getting my own board. Probably not this one yet though😅

I just noticed you have 3 orginal Ultimate Ride in the back ground. Got the 17 from a thrift shop when traveling in Japan back in 2022. Instantly fell in love with it. It's so light, verstile and has almost the same spec as og HK pro with the same construction, camber/side cut profile but longer nose. I ended up buying all 4 years from used market. So sad they stop making it anymore.
Always rose my BSOD..................UNTIL I got my hands on the Megadeath. Un-real. Super light and incredibly stable under foot. Floats so much better in powder compared to my BSOD! A MUST BUY for those who ride and love their BSOD
Are you going to be doing a comparison for the Capita lineup? I would love to learn more about where each of the different boards excel based on their design-style. Really struggling between the Megga-Death, BSOD, Megga-Merc, and Aeronaut and that would really help me make a final decision. Looking for a resort board charge hard with focusing on speed and air (mostly cliffs and side-hits).
Hi Shane . You are doing a good job - I appreciate your input ! After watching your video I found that it is time to change my board to Capite mega death . I am confused with the size . Height 180 cm , weight 70-71 kg ( 157lbs) plan to gain 3 kg to 162 lbs . Shoes are ride lasso pro 43,5 (28 cm- 10 US) bindings Flux XF - M . Take 156 or 157wide or 159? At my weight I am in the middle of 156 and don't know which one to buy I'm looking for something to go faster and I saw that it flexes quite a bit . But I am in the middle of the scale. Previously I had an effective edge of 117.5 so the extra edge should give more stability, but I don't want to overdo it. Thank you and appreciate your input !

Great review! Did you get the chance to ride the 2025 Kazu kokubo? Im debating if i should get the kazu or the mega death. I am looking to upgrade from my 2020 warpig to something more stable , fast but fun. I usually ride the whole mtn , i dont go into the park. Intermediate to advance rider.
I own the Mega Merc, which I love as it's a high-tech all mtn ripper on the stiffer side that I still can butter with. How would you compare the two boards?
Probably need a whole video for that comparison haha. The Mega Death has more energy in a different way and seems to ride powder better. I still love both rides though
Kazu or Mega Death, do you have an opinion on the main difference on the use. I looking for a All-montain / Resort board. I also have the Burton Custom X in mind... to many boards :P
I think the Mega Death over both of those. Mega Death has more fun of a shape imo that makes turning and carving better than the Kazu, although I have yet to ride that board And the Custom X is not that fun of a ride for most people.

Hows the dampness at speed and over crud and less than ideal conditions? Full carbon and being light weight makes me hesitant, especially with that price tag. I currently ride amplid boards which are quite damp. But the pop isn't that great. Thanks!

No, it's too directional of a board for me to want to ride in the park. Plus no matter what board you're riding the park, and especially rails, is so much abuse on your board, I could never with this nice of a board haha
I'm size 12us boot, 229lbs. Tossing up between the 161W, 162 and 165W. I prefer slightly shorter boards. What would your thoughts be? also recommended binding?
@SearchofSnowboarding ahh ok. That's probably a requirement for this board. Had it professionally tuned with one of those wintersteiger machines in SLC early on. Yea base material is paper thin and a whole section got peeled back to the core.

Depending on how much you've progressed, I'd imagine it's possible you could. That said, it's likely that for your second season, it's more board at a higher price point than you need. There's many boards out there that are at a lower price and probably more appropriate for your day to day needs. I'm partial to the Jones Frontier, but there are plenty others to check out!
Mega carbon? They finally released the mega carbon rods weave...no wonder I struggled n the mega dew parks at Aspen. I am still using 2 year old xtreme carbon. Huge upgrade over the old ultra carbon and the Xfactor carbon from last year. Back then the park line was xtreme not yet mega. You only needed xtreme carbon built into the ultramag "hyper camber" to get that pop. 100x better than the burton mystery Xs tho. Only wish it had the same thermo poly MAX. Not paying twice the price for the 2025 burton skibidy x or the rizzlers Sometimes I wonder if it's the board that makes the man? Or is it the man that makes the board? Would shaving .1g in weight off my board help? Surely there is some independent review sites out there that give a true objective opinion on the boards. Some well respected snowboard company. Like Forbes, or Newsweek reviews of the new decks. Is some company or big fat corporation selling me something I don't need possibly? Every single review thing on the internet is a huge referral link circle jerk. TBF, it probably always was though. So is the new Mega Death the greatest snowboard?
Got my hands on a Mercury 158W with the 2023 topsheet graphics for 400 bucks. Since the 2025 still uses the same construction, it was a no-brainer to grab it. Already invested in a Specialized Carbon Stumpjumper, carbon wheelset, etc., and other hobbies like my sled dogs.😅 But, would really like to try it out.😊 Cheers from Switzerland

That wasn't my experience, turned into somewhat of a daily for me last year. Scraped it on enough trees, stumps, hard landings and it held up as strongly as all my other rides

They do, Brandon Cocard's been liking it a lot. I think there's not much footage of them riding it because footage you see will most likely be on more freestyle focused boards like the Mercury, Mega Mercury, DOA etc.

If you want to be doing freestyle and craving, maybe the Korua Otto 157 for you

I think you’d be better off with the 157W, especially because you can carve this board way high on the edge

did you get your base tuned? it got tuned once and in 15 days the board's base started stripping off.

162 would be good for you. You could go 161W if you want an extra 5mm of width since you'll be carving this puppy hard

They do, Brandon Cocard's been liking it a lot. I think there's not much footage of them riding it because footage you see will most likely be on more freestyle focused boards like the Mercury, Mega Mercury, DOA etc.
