Breaking Linore Flax 2023 pt.1

Finally breaking the Linore Flax I grew in 2023. It was pretty short and I was quite disappointed in how poorly it grew. I did plant dense and I harvested early because the flax started flowering after 60 days of growing. Normally the flax is ready after 90 to 100 days. Grew short and bolted way too early. The fiber is fine but it feels a bit brittle. Not sure I will plant densely next time and not sure I'll harvest so early. The brittleness could be because the fibers have not fully matured to strong fibers. It is a test. If I can't get good spin able fiber from this I can get enough for making paper. Paper is something I wanted to do anyway. I could have also over retted the stalks. I let it rett for 7 days then pulled it out for drying then breaking. The next video in this series is hackling the fiber which includes a bundle of Nathalie flax I grew two years ago for comparison. I am disappointed for sure but hopefully I can make a boat load of paper.
