    I also have this watch. A little bit of Brasso and a microfibre cloth = looks almost brand new after about 2 minutes. VERY easy. And that said - I quite like it once it’s built up some patina too - never gets too bad and gives it a “lived in” look. This is a fabulous watch - people really shouldn’t worry about the patina “issue” (that isn’t an issue 😁)

      I have a bronze IWC watch. Was thinking of using Brasso. It didn't end up polishing the brushed portions of your watch? Was the only concern I had of using Brasso.

    Thank you Alexander for this update on the bronze. As a tudor collector, this video has come in very useful so the changing patina has prevented me in purchasing one. Now seeing how easy it is to restore it back to the original condition, I have the initiative to go and find one for sale now. Many thanks

      I am very happy to read this Richard. You can even improve the cleaning by just letting the watch longer in that “bath” … I wanted to show the immediate effect in the video, so I limited the process to “only” one hour… let me know if you have any questions…

    i just received my black bay 58 bronze today and what a fantastic looking watch. Ok what i have done to try and prevent any patina and try to keep it looking as good as new is use renaissance micro crysatalline wax polish on the bracelet and watch head, clear wax and very easy to apply with a micro fibre cloth. I removed the bracelet and thoroughly applied a good coat of wax to the inside and outside of the bracelet , polished it off and it buffs up as good as the original tudor finish so don`t be scared to do it. i then used a cotton bud to get to the niggly bits around the bezel and lugs and applied a good amount over the case and sides. again polishes off very easily. i did this twice and then re assembled the watch. looks great and hopefully has some protection. will do this probably once a month and see how the watch looks and adjust waxing accordingly. the wax is available on amazon and is very well tried and tested . hope this helps...

    Hi Alexander, another great video thank you. A couple of things I would add is if you use a tooth brush it will take off more of the patina, and I would recommend also trying a different method using the juice of a full lemon and a can of soda, I believe gives you a better result, I did the first video on cleaning the patina from a Black Bay over a year ago, you can see my results, but please disregard the polishing part of the video, I know some of you will scold me on that, but it's my watch i have no plans of selling it or care about what value you might think it went down to, i like the way it looks and bonus it keeps the patina from coming back.😉

    • @WatchAdvisor
      @WatchAdvisor  3 года назад

      I have tried with another bronze watch lemon juice and was not satisfied at all… these Kukident tabs are cleaning softly and effective… the watch was only one hour in that “bath” and I did not use any additional tools to clean it and it already looked really good… so one should keep it just a bit longer in that “bath” an the results will be perfect… my intention was to show how easy it is to clean a bronze watch even in only one hour time…

I visited my local Rolex authorised dealer today trying on a two tone submariner and and coral red oyster, beautiful watches, the ad had never handled a bb58 bronze and was very impressed . Many thanks Alexander for showing us the patina on your watch worn over the past months. In new condition it looks great but over time it adds character to the watch and bracelet. If I pulled the trigger on this piece I'd not 'clean' it as it's condition would reflect my journey with the watch. It would be interesting how well over time the anodized aluminium bezel stands up to the chemical cleaning so as I say if I purchased one it would be worn and enjoyed as the watch and I age.

    • @WatchAdvisor

    Firstly you sold me on the Rado Bronze when it first came out. May I suggest anyone interested in a bronze Diver to give it a look. It's considerably less expensive and looks great and has a better depth rating. It also has quick change straps.
    That all said I wonder if after the first 30 minute soak you might use a soft tooth brush to finish off those last stubborn sports and shorten the cleaning process.
    As for me I have had my Rado about 17 months it looks great and I don't plan on cleaning it. The patina makes it look like it's been on a diving rig or around the docks and 🚢 s. Just the look this desktop diver was going for, oh and the Rado uses a aluminum Bronze alloy also with with a titanium back.

    In the videos, the watch looks great. I love my Navy Blue Black Bay 58. I managed to order this version from a boutique. When it arrived, I could not warm up to it (I tried). You need to wear mostly earth-tone clothing. It was never going to work with my blue shirts (in the videos, it's hard to understand this). Many photos make it look dark, like it would go with a wider variety of clothing. In person (in most daylight), the bezel looks like a beautiful copper, and the chocolate brown on the dial dominates it. I even tried my shirts that are camouflage green. The combination did not pop for me. I dumped this watch quickly within a day (at a significant loss). DO NOT ORDER IT ONLINE WITHOUT TRYING IT ON FIRST. It's not the bronze metal that is the problem. This doesn’t look like the original color. It’s much lighter and pinker. Not sure if do that. Maybe it’s just the video but def doesn’t look like the original color …

      I don’t know 🤷🏼‍♂️ either! Many questions appear: Is your screen color calibrated? Was our camera color calibrated? Even when you try hard and everything is optimized it’s not sure you reproduce exactly the correct colors… it’s mostly almost and not admost…

      @@WatchAdvisor from your perspective did it go back to the original color? Or was it different? Cameras and screens aside. How do you feel it looked after the patina reversal compared to when new? 100% or less than 100%

      @@tariqqureshi6695 I got a watch from Tudor and I don’t know how often it was cleaned before. As far as I remember it looked like „new“ after my gentle cleaning…

      @@WatchAdvisor just picked this up! After a bit of a wait. It’s stunning in person. Videos or pics don’t do this one justice. I love it. Beyond my expectations in person. Will wear it and clean it as you did and report back in a few months!

    Do you think it could be mistaken for a gold watch? I like it but I'm worried about the attention it might attract.

    • @WatchAdvisor
      @WatchAdvisor  3 года назад

      Yes, absolutely! I was questioned a lot about this BB58 since it looks like a gold watch and my friends know that I don’t wear any gold watches normally…

      @@WatchAdvisor damn, that's what I was afraid off. Although it seems like that wouldn't be an issue once it develops a patina.

      Patina for sure helps… but only when someone gets close to the watch… from a distance you can still think it is gold …

    Pure bronze doesnt exist. Bronze is an alloy by definition. Usually bronze is made by alloying Copper with Tin or with Aluminum.
