+TheDkjolle MTG is not that expensive. This video is showing the cost that some of these old out of print cards go for. Basically hardcore collectors will buy them, and playing with them is out of the question as they will keep them in a protective display. All of these cards are still playable, but only in the Vintage format. Constructed formats is where most legal competitive play occurs, in particular Standard, which only allows the most recent so and so sets that rotate out as new sets come in. So all this video tells you is how expensive the game can be for hardcore Magic collectors, not how expensive it is to play. Hardly no one would play if they had to pay thousands of dollars for single cards.
Literally every single card on this list is from alpha which is pretty boring. I would have gone with the most expensive cards by their cheapest printing (ie. Unlimited for all the alpha cards) so your list could include some stuff like Tabernacle, Bazaar of Bagdad, or Mishra's Workshop.

PleasantKenobi Alpha Lotus BGS9-9.5 sells at 20k-30k generally, if you can find a buyer. The 100k Lotus is Beta, since BGS10 Alpha doesn't exist, afaik. No one has actually bought it in the first place.
Volcanic Island wasn't printed in Alpha. And the reason Extra turns weren't seen as such a big deal in alpha was that the most dangerous cards in the game at that point were Serra Angel, Sengir Vampire and Shivan Dragon. The emergence of combos is what has made it so dangerous.
It's because Richard Garfield knows how to real magic and he looked into his crystal ball and he saw splinter twin and UR delver dominating modern and modern/legacy/vintage respectively and he's all "oh hell naw" and so he tried to erase v island from alpha and all subsequent sets but he didn't count on Robo-MaRo coming from the future to battle the evil archmage Richard Garfield and undo his changes so as to complete the cycle. This had the indirect effect of making a full set of original dual lands that much more expensive but restored balance to the color pie and saved the game of magic as we know it. Or at least that's how it should have been.
well the reason is that there was a bird on the art and because this bird was so prominent they printed it as bird of paradise and made the volcanic island in beta. also they did not have much money back then so they could not recomision the art.

Prices are way off... Mana vault is like $15 Shivan dragon is like $2 Time twister is about $1000-2000 Mox's is about $2000-3000 Ancestral Recall is about $2,500-3000 Black lotus.... It always changes. It's about $20,000-50,000.
+Fraiture If you're smart you'll put those in a protective cover and look into getting them sold. That Beta Ancestral Recall is worth around $3000 depending on condition.

Pretty much nailed it, just a few things to point out.. Some of your Alpha/Beta picks were using Unlimited/Revised pictures. Also, other than the obvious P9 at the top of the list, I feel things like Tabernacle and Workshop were missed somewhere in the middle. As for the P9, I just want to point out the lotus price is pretty subjective since that $100k price is for the only known 10 GEM MINT lotus in existence, and it has been on ebay at that price for a few years now... Your standard price for A/B Lotus is still outrageous but not that high. Somewhere around $20k last I checked. Oh, and I doubt misprints were going to make this list, but the infamous 'blue hurricane' is definitely up there too.. Otherwise, good stuff!

This is obviously a year after the video came out, but Summer Magic Volcs are $17k-$20k and Shichifukujin Dragon is priceless, since there is only one copy in the world.
Tabernacle comes in at the same price as Alpha Mana Vault, so should get an honorable mention, the list should also give a shout out to the edgar/summer magic which has multiple cards worth $1000+

As far as i recall, there are two magic cards, that go for far more than Black Lotus. Can't remember their names, but one of them was a crappy dragon, which only has one copy in the entire world - given to a mtg champion in the very early days of magic. The other one is a blue card, but can't remember what is was - it might be in the same catagory as the goyfgate card, since there is only one of each copy, so i don't know if it fits.

I cant believe when I first started playing magic, I had most of these cards, most were given to me by my friend because they were almost worthless. I played them without any protectors on it. Sold my collection in highschool. I had so many copies of nearly all of these. I could have easily bought a car or downpayment on a house with all of these. Oh well.

HEY YOU SCROLLING THROUGH THE COMMENTS! The value of the card depends on WHEN it was printed, so for example, your shiver dragon that you got in your starter is not worth what the one printed 20 years ago is, same for Black Lotus, some versions are worth more than others.
This list misses a few things like Summer Magic duals and Blue Hurricane, I think. Blue Hurricane always was $6000 ish and more, Summer Underground Sea was on for 15000 Euros or such last time I checked
You would want your opponent to draw 3 if you are using a discard deck and they have less than 3 cards in the library, forcing an end to the game and a win for you.
Everything from Alpha is expensive, wished there were some more newer cards on this list. Granted, nothing can come close to Black Lotus's price, well except an imported sports car.
Did a little research and an Alpha black lotus even with a 9.5 grading might go for 30-40k. while still a lot of money its no where near 100k, at least not yet.

$100,000 for an Alpha Black Lotus? Not quite sure where that price is coming from... We sold a BGS graded 9.5 copy for about a third of that.

Why don't you consider summer magic cards on this list?Summer magic duals should be be more expensive than black lotus.Also the magic world champion 1996 card should be considered.

Not as much as the other p9 signed by their respective artists, but still a fair bit of cash. Alas: timetwister, while still very powerful,is the worst of the power and the price reflects this.
I think I'll hold on to it for the time being. It's Unlimited edition so I'm not expecting bigtime bucks, but it's power nine like you said so it can only increase with time.
