Yep exactly see you guys just proved that you don't have to blow mass smoke to have a fast and badass deisel. It's the people that do blow smoke everywhere they go that are going to make it hard to own a deisel .. So highest prasies go out to duramax tuner.com ... But next build let's see a powerstroke lmao!
Well done gentlemen! I've always been puzzled by 8000 lb diesel trucks that are so laggy and have to camp out at the drag strip starting line to get their turbo(s) spooled up. I know high hp turbo cars can be very laggy too... it just seems a contradiction to have a heavy high torque truck that can't get to it's power easily. So again well done to make a responsive build without spewing clouds of unburnt fuel out the back.
@@robertsample42 owned alot of other manufacturers trucks my non egr and cat from Texas federal emission standard that's why I keep it lb7 banks big boss bundle 6gun. Is the shit I'm in CA. Also smog legal
This is kind of the direction I'd like to go...Driveability is my number one priority, followed very closely by reliability... 600-700 RWHP is my goal, more than enough for a lifted 7000lb truck...
This is what I have been looking into doing on my lbz I have 562 rwhp and am getting ready to do some work on the truck again this winter(building trans and thinking of beefing up the engine and fuel system while I'm already tearing the truck apart) hopefully if everything works out. Kinda depends on if I make enough in the next 2 months or so to make it till spring and work again I already bought a 3rd vehicle for me and the partner in case theirs breaks down or for when mine is torn apart. I was planning on doing 2 stages of build just to decrease costs slightly next jump is at least going to be 750-800 but if funds are available it would be nice to hit the 1k+ while having it drivable because that thing looks super fun.
Im looking for about 850 hp for my lb7. Its my tow rig so I wanted to use the stealth 64 with an s480. would that hit my goal and still be a good tow rig with low egts?
Anytime you can use a compound set-up for towing you will benefit with lower EGTs, for sure. We tend not to buy-in to the idea that a specific horsepower translates into the best experience. You may find it tows great at 650 or 700 horsepower. A specific number - in other words - isn't what's important. And if you add more fuel to get to that number, you may end up with higher EGT's - balance is what you want. That said - give us a call Monday morning and talk about your goals and help you get where you need: 815-568-7920.
+Duramaxtuner im from sycamore, live in genoa. looking to get my lb7 tuned in 2016. unfortunately not as cool as this bad mother! i def want to get in contact with you guys.
I’d be happy with a reliable 600hp! Have a 2006 GMC Sierra 3500 LBZ. That I use to tow. Would love a parts list for reliability. Please message me. Thanks in advance
So I was wondering. If someone buys your tunes would they be able to change it say if they did upgrades down the road and they know how to tune or would they have to buy more tunes from you guys?
700-800 is all you need for a daily driver.. 68mm turbo. 60 over stock injectors. 10mm CP3 and a suncoast gmax1000. You're still gonna smoke anything on the road. 15k compared too 25k
Maybe you only need that much power. This customer strongly disagrees with you. Also, a single 68mm is never going to to drive the same as a twin kit. But to each their own.
We have customers who use their truck the way you describe in your question. Basic maintenance and common sense will serve you well. Along with changing the fluids at regular intervals, we would recommend regular boost testing to make sure you haven't knocked loose something when "played with a bit on the street". If you would like to talk to someone who could give you more information, give us a call at 815-568-7920.
I'm in the process of building my duramax lly, I want to hit 1000hp eventually. I'm in no rush and I want to do it right. What internals NEED to be replaced to handle 1000hp?
Lb7 doesnt have any emissions besides doc dry catalyst in the exhaust. Remove that, it's a no emissions duramax. Realistically, the lb7 had crankshaft problems around 500-550 hp. If you twist it under load itll crack the crank and bend rods. So, with just an exhaust and rail plug, I'd first get a lift pump, you can get near 500hp without issues, and have a fun truck.
Now if you went rotating assembly, rebuild, heads, manifolds, full intake and exhaust, larger turbo, 40 over injectors and a solid camshaft, head stud it, and run a solid tune, you could make 650-700 all day. But be prepared to build your transmission for another few thousand as well. I mean we are talking 20grand for that. And it's fun for sure, but people will skip some steps and ruin an engine or trans. It's a full system upgrade. If you dont have the money, be safe and keep it at a nice 450 horse lb7 with a solid tune
We have no opinion for the off-label use of two stroke oil like that. We're a data driven company - so any consideration would require some serious research on our part. We do not have any plans to do that research at this time.
hey guys can I get some help. I have a 2002 lb7 that I'm working on, I've done head gaskets with ARP studs. its consuming coolant, getting into cylinder #6. I replace the injector cup and orings, re oringed injector. truck is still consuming coolant, I haven't had a chance to see if its still cyl #6. any ideas, I'm thinking if #6 injector cup was leaking the other probably are too.
This video is a few years old, but in general a truck like this gets high teens if street driven by an adult. To be honest though, people with trucks running 1,000 HP don't usually worry too much about the cost of fuel.
I hate stacks, better to just have a down pipe off the turbie and nothing else. BUT alot of the boys don't use their trucks for anything worthwhile so the bed doesn't matter to them. He didn't mention the trans, SO, it won't be long till that Allison 1000 pukes it's guts out, won't take long if it really is pumping out 2k torque.
I'd guess more like 30-35k for the engine build, fuel and charger setup I'd guess there's close to 5k just in fuel add another 7k for chargers and piping. Transmission another 5-7k engine work rods ,pistons ,alternate firing order cam (just a guess) valve-train cylinder head work and labor to boot 12-15k
This LB7 is just insane! and plain badass in every way Fit, finish, drivability, reliability and efficiency just WOW
well built diesel I like how it doesn't blow mass black smoke!
+Keegan Rose Thanks Keegan - we're very proud of our clean tunes. If you see smoke, you're wasting money - and affecting other people, not cool.

Why do I want a diesel that does not shoot black smoke? Black smoke is the soul of an diesel engine
@@luiscandurin4478 no it isn't. Its wasted power and poor fuel/air mixture

After the cost what's your gas mileage like staying out of the throttle
How Streetable would a s366 to s480 compound turbo set up be with 100% over injectors
what piston rods and crank set up are you running on that truck to hold that hp and torque
Please excuse my ignorance. Did you guys change injectors as part of this build or are they still stock.
Stock injectors are only good to about 600 RWHP. This build had 100% over Exergy Injectors.

how hard is it to get a 1000hp + out of a 12 valve?
Couldn't tell you exactly but from my knowledge you can probably only get 700-800 out of a 12 valve
Cruiserdude it gets too hot because you need so much boost to push through the heads/valves. you need to do a 24v head swap or a very expensive head.
