    • @Trainlover-pk9hn
      @Trainlover-pk9hn 2 года назад +3

      A trombone has 7 slide positions (including 7 trigger positions) the notes shes playing are b flat to a higher b flat. This doesn't require positions to move. It's just an octave jump in the harmonic series. The only reason that she moved the slide is because normies don't understand that we can play more than one note per position. If I actually moved the slide I would play a completely different note.

If a person sits in front of a piano and presses some keys with fingers, it will look like they plays piano. For example if a woodwind player is doing a scale run very quickly, they may choose easier fingerings with worse intonation for some of the notes depending on the scale.

    I hate to be a know it all, but it is not entirely uncommon for alternative positions to be used. I have been with multiple teachers who have recommended using alternates like c in 6th as opposed to trigger 1st extended. For me, that was on Fancy Free by Clay Smith (arr. Blair Bollinger). The reason for this is more ease when getting to positions near by like c sharp in 5th. It's easier to go from 6 to 5 instead of 1 to 5. But I understand why we all have different takes and methods. I just wanted to throw that out there.

    I feel like trombone has been portrayed incorrectly so much and its probably because the instrument is very visual (the slide moving) and easier for actors to fake, which is ideal for film and television. As opposed to string instruments and sometimes even piano. Of course people who do play trombone will tell in an instant. But even fake violin playing can look so awkward to a non-musician

    Good catch. Even people who are familiar with seeing it played may not have noticed this. I don't play trombone, but have several dear friends who do, so I was quite used to seeing it, but not knowledgeable enough to notice what's wrong here, just to get the impression it might be a little off.

    So is the trombone just like a big kazoo? Meaning all the different notes are actually "sung" by the player?

    there was a drug commercial that had a young marching trombonist that obviously did not play trombone (as well as a drummer that didn't look like a real drummer).

    Wait till you find that one bad Eastern drama series where the violinist didn't play anything right. TwoSet Violin covered that already tho.

    People blaming her but really it's the director who probably told her to slide around a bunch cause otherwise it "doesn't look like she's playing"

    Unless I'm greatly mistaken (which I'm pretty sure I'm not) the farther down the slide position is the lower it is, in my class right now my lowest not is low f which is far down the slide
