Since playing each note will also trigger other notes to make a sound, a chromatic handpan wouldn't sound good. Because a all the half steps are in there you would get unwanted activation with each note you strike and thus a lot of dissonance. If you want to be chromatic you can get a handpan next to you on a stand with the missing notes.
